Wow! Very pleasant guy! Very personable and accomodating. Well spoken and friendly. He seems very professional and passionate about what he does. I cannot wait to get to know him better.

Dr. Hall is very knowledgeable and skillfull in weight loss surgery. He spends approximately five hours going over EVERYTHING with you pre-op. He does not sugar coat anything as he wants you to be aware of all the benefits and risks. He is a wonderful surgeon and is serious about your healthcare and your being successful after surgery. He is adamant that he follow you after surgery and offers a monthly support group run by himself. He believes his patients will be successful if they follow his aftercare and genuinely seems to want each of his patients to succeed.
His office staff is wonderful and always seem to be available for questions, problems, concerns.
I would give Dr. Hall and his staff an A+++.

i have not met dr hall face to face, but have corresponded with his office for months now. they are very helpful and prompt when answering phone calls or emails. i did my research and dr hall has been doing weight-loss surgery successfully for many years and as an added plus he does surgery in a hospital that is affiliated with the one i work for (cheaper!!) i have a consultation with him the day before surgery. from what i have read, he is very thorough in his explanations and allows you to choose based on the facts which surgery you want. i will try to update when i know more.

I haven't met Dr.Hall. I was planning and have had an appointment for surgery with Dr.Scott since March 2nd. I called the office today after hearing rumors of his move and was told next Friday (May 16) would be his last day in Lubbock. He is moving to Branson, Missouri.
My friend and I got on line and found another doctor in Wichita Falls and then Dr.Hall. We called him this afternoon(May5) and things are already in motion.
On May 19th I met Dr. Hall. He was great. I am really excited about him doing my surgery. I knew there had to be a reason why God allowed me to go through the turmoil with Dr. Scott. Now I know it was because Dr. Hall was a better choice for me. He is VERY informative and honest about the surgeries. It is great. We spent a good four hours in consult with him. He does group consults with one on one time too. We were there from 10:30-4:00. It was a long day, but it was really worth it.

The first time I met Dr. Hall, he sat and talked to a group of us for FOUR HOURS! I didn't know a doctor would ever do this. I work at a hospital and know a lot of them.. this is not the norm!
He is brutally honest. Appreciated it very much. this is not a surgery for a whimp.
His staff is so great. Act like they have known you for years. Love Ms. Jessie.
They helped me with my insurance problems. It has been a difficult road but now it is settled and my surgery has been scheduled. I have not met with the nutritionist or pysch. yet.

Will update after my next meeting with him.

He and the whole staff, especially Carol have been wonderful to me. They got my insurance approval almost immediately when it had taken a local surgeon's office several months.

He is a wonderful and experienced and dedicated surgeon. Some of the unique things about him are:

1. He has a staff that is ALWAYS available and some who work solely and diligently on approvals from insurance. I was going to have my surgery 4 years ago and chickened out, but they had me approved in 2 weeks whereas a local surgeon had poked along at 4 months with no approval. Then when I decided to do it, he had me approved with a different insurer/job in 3 DAYS!

2. Once approved, he PAYS for the patient and 1 support person to FLY to see him for an very intense mini "seminar" which can last all day, but is in his comfortable office and you may be the only patient in there. If you decide to have the surgery, he can have ALL pre-ops done the next day and have you in surgery in 2 DAYS! OF course, he does NOT pressure you to have the surgery, in fact he almost comes across like he is talking you out of it.

3. He has a very very low mortalilty rate. He has dedicated himself to this surgery alone for a number of years. I believe he has lost a total of 2 patients in many years and neither were during or right after surgery. I believe one was a blood clot that happened weeks later and another was something else not directly related to the surgery.

4. He performs the VBG, the RNY and lap. He seems to prefer the VBG, as he says it has less complications, but did the RNY on me, open, and did not try to talk me out of it.

5. I have had some lingering vomiting and nausea problems at a year post op. He recently flew me AGAIN at his cost to Lubbock and had me in the hospital for nearly a week looking after me.

6. He has a full-time nutritionist at his side whenever she is needed (she is Chinese and talks as fast as a freight train and is a hysterical HOOT!). She is strict, but his people lose the weight.

7. He did not require pre-op weight loss or even that I stop smoking, though he HUGELY encouraged the smoking cessation.

8. He has an outstanding after-care program and local support group. While I cannot go to the local support group as I live in Oklahoma, he has talked to me any and every time I have ever called and asked for help and so has his office staff.

9. He has a dry and witty sense of humor and a good bedside manner. At first he comes across as kind of serious, but you can get him to laugh. I think he's just a bit shy, not at ALL stuck up.

10. He, all associated doctors and the Highland Hospital in Lubbock, worked generously with me to pay my part of the bill that insurance did not. I only had to pay $100 up front out of pocket for the psych exam--and he provides the guy who comes to see you while you are in Lubbock to do it.

I could go on and on, but the above 10 items are a good start. He is different and a real option for people who (a) want to have their surgeries much faster than they can locally (b) don't have a local surgeon, or don't like or trust a local guy and (c) all flights, hotel and even a couple of meals are paid for by him while investigating whether you have the surgery or not and finally (d) he provides for a support person while you are in surgery. You always get a private room and they put a bed in for your support person and bring them all meals while you are hospitalized so they never have to leave your side if they don't want.

By the way, I had my surgery alone. YUP, went down alone and flew home 6 days post-op and did just great. He and his staff made sure that I was never lonely and visited me every day and whenever I wanted. Also Highland is a small hospital with the 3rd floor pretty much geared for WLS patients with a special lounge and all. Then patients can help and support each other too.

My whole experience with Dr Hall and his staff were totally awesome. I honestly have to say I don't have one complaint. Sherra helped me tremendously in dealing with my insurance (i was already on 2nd appeal process before i even contacted Dr Hall's office for a consultation) Even the hospital staff was unbelievable..never have I been taken care of by so many people at once that carried sooo much personality, It certainly made the painful days breeze by easier. Dr Hall's presentation of the surgery covered just about anything you ever wanted to know about this procedure ..the good, bad and da ugly (hee hee) The aftercare has been great, i have made a couple of calls in to ask questions ..they put me thru to someone right away. Chantelle (Dr Hall's med asst) makes you feel very comfortable in calling in with any doubts, questions, fears. etc. The week I had my surgery, i was so impressed just by how far some of the other patients had traveled to have Dr Hall perform this surgery..(California, Louisianna, San Antonio and Austin area) And even better..sharing the stories and comments that others had to say about him. I would definitely recommend Dr Hall to anyone even considering surgery, even if its just to take the trip there to hear his presentation. I had been to many consultations, so glad I held out and made this last one!

Dr. Hall is the BEST! He is a very caring man and seems only to have the patients best interest in mind when he talks to you. He is an excellent surgeon. I have had no problems at all since having surgery in September 2002.

My first impression of him was that he's very nice and patient and seems to take all the time necessary to explain things.

My impression of him hasn't changed at all! I still think he's extremely nice and patient.

The staff is friendly and very competent. They work hard to put you at ease, and go out of their way to calm you down (when you need it most).

They are all there for you before, during and after surgery.

Both surgical competence and bedside manner are great!

01-27-03-As of today, I have yet to meet him, but his office staff has been very helpful. Carol has answered all my questions and if I have a concern they are all right on top of it. I had to go through the hospitals "hoops" and the emails coming back have been my biggest problem. They have been confusing, but Carol was always there to straighten them out. I am now crossing my fingers hoping to get my surgery date soon! I will keep you posted on my meeting with Dr. Hall

My first impression of Dr. Hall is that he is reserved and quiet. I found him to be extreamly through and competent. He staff is very caring. If thee is anything at all I didn't like about him is that he is very strict. He almost tries to talk you out of the surgery he covers any and all possible things that could forseably go wrong. Over all I would say Dr. Hall walks on water and I could not imagine finding a better surgeon to have helped me...
