Dr.Oliak preformed the Lap-Band procedure on me October,20,2003.Both his skill as a surgeon and his focus on aftercare were major factors in my decision to travel to Southern California to have this surgery. The Staff at Coastal Center were helpfull with all aspects of the procedure from insurance to aftercare.I can recommend both Dr. Oliak and his Staff without reservation.

What can I say? I absolutely love Dr. Oliak.
He was very warm, gentle and made me feel so comfortable.
And I'm sure somewhere he bares the nickname of "golden hands" :o) He performs magic with his hands.

My surgery had gone so well, it didn't feel like recovering from a surgery at all after the 1st day. I could have had indigestion and it'd have hurt more. :o))

I highly recommend Dr.Oliak and Coastal center for obesity to anyone who's thinking about having surgery.

I just love Dr. Oliak! He is the nicest doctor I have had! He never makes you feel rushed when he is in the appointment with you. I had one appointment that he was in the room with me for like 45 minutes and he had a room full in the waiting room. He only cares about "me" at the time. I think that is awesome! His bedside manner is great and would recommend him to everyone! The only negative thing about him is that he is usually late calling you in for the appointment but that is only because he takes his time with each patient.

Dr. Oliak is a wonderful surgeon. I would recomend him to anyone. He takes his time with you and explains everything to you in detail. He also makes time for questions and he is just great overall. He is young but don't let that fool you. He is extremely knowledgeable. I had complete trust in him and I still do.

Great!!!! Never been in the hospital before and felt perfectly at ease. Always answered my questions and took the time with me. I would definitely recommend Dr. Oliak. Aftercare is emphasized and the risks of the surgery are very well defined.

He has alot of experience with LAP RNY. He is very personable and sensitive to the problems of obisity. Like him very much. Most of the office staff and some of their spouses have been his paitents, so they are very empathetic. Aftercare is very important as well as a structured food plan to make sure the body stays healthy.

Dr. David Oliak seems like a very skilled surgeon. I trust that he will do a wonderful job with my surgery. The seminar I went to for Costal Center For Obesity was wonderful! All 3 doctors were there and had a lot to say. Very informative! Very experienced! Very nice doctors! I have nothing but good things to say about them. Their office staff is awesome as well!

I just wanted to comment on Dr. Oliak now that I have had my surgery done. He is a wonderful surgeon. He is very kind and really impressed me. My surgery went better than I would have ever thought and I feel so good (it has only been 5 days. I would have thought I would have felt so much worse. I had LAP done and the incision areas are so tiny and I am sure they will not be very visibale in 6 months or so. He is a great surgeon with a wonderful bedside manner. I recommend him highly!

Dr. Owens if a very nice man. I met him approx 9 mos ago when I thought I was ready to do the surgery. I first met him at an informational seminar that he conducted for people thinking about having the surgery. Then I saw him again at my pre-op appt. He was very informative. Went over everything in detail. He allows time for questions. He has a great aftercare program which included support group meetings. It is also mandatory that you attend a support group meeting before surgery. He wants you to really know what you're getting into. Two of his office staff also had the surgery done. One person had it done 11 years ago and the other 4 years ago. I think that says something great about him if patient's wanted to work for him after their surgery.

My first impression of him was that he was a young handsome surgeon. After the seminar with him I was impressed. His office staff is great. They all treated me like a part of their family. I loved it. There is nothing negative that I can say about him. He is a great surgeon and I felt very comfortable with him. He is a great guy down to earth. He emphasized aftercare greatly. He explained the risks of the surgery to me clearly. Overall I loved the guy. The main thing I remember about him when I was in the hospital was this clicking sound that he made with his tongue and on the roof of his mouth when he was in deep thought(very entertaining :). but I would not have changed my surgeon for the world I felt so comfortable with him. My whole experience with the surgery was great. I personally have no complaints.

I attended coastal obesity's seminar yesterday. I was quite impressed that all three docs were there. It shows to me that they truly do care. Dr. Oliak lead the presentation. Dr. Owens was in the back of the room during the presentation. (I think he was working at the hospital that day) He joined the conversation and answered questions. The docs all seem very knowledgable and very confident. (I like that in a person who is going to be adjusting my inards LOL)
