Update to my Jan 19 2012 review of Dr Lauter.
I have another Bariatric Surgeon and Clinic, What a difference from Northstar and Dr Lauter. The staff is very helpful and very professional no surprises, I have gone thru all the things that are required even the psych evaluation that gave me the thumbs up. I wont give the name of the Dr or establishment that I am going to. All I say is really check out the provider that is going to do your surgery, I really learned a lesson, just because they are Drs doesn't mean they arn't shaddy.

I went to Dr Lauter at Northstar in Bellingham Wa I went to the seminar, made an appointment @ Northstar Met with Dr Burden @ Northstar meet with him for an hour, had an ekg and asked some questions. He told me the whole process, arrange a psych evaluation, go see a Cardiologist because I am over 50, and Northstar billed me for a procedure that wasn't performed. I got my psych evaluation 10/5/11 went to Cardiologist 10/11/11 Cardiologist said I needed to go on the treadmill, made appt 10/17/11 I couldn't get my heart rate high enough to get a accurate reading. Met with Dr Lauter 10/18/11 he scheduled surgery for 11/25/11 I got a call from Northstar telling me that Dr Lauter needed me to get a Nuclear Test another type of stress test scheduled it for 117/11 I called Overlake Weight Loss to get info on my surgery left several messages didn't get call backs, finally I did get thru to Dr Lauters Bellevue office and tI was immediately put me thru to Dr Lauter this was 11/15/11 he informed me that I am not a candidate per psych evaluation. Had Dr Lauter left messages, I would of returned his call, I would have canceled the nuclear stress test. He received the psych evaluation on 10/21/11 14 days before my nuclear stress test witch is a 4000.00 test. Dr Lauter should have left me a message to call his office so I could have canceled the nuclear stress test, now I have this big bill from the Cardiologists office. I would not recommend Dr Lauter or Northstar to anyone.

Dr. Lauter never makes you feel rushed. He explained everything to my husband and I and answered all of our questions prior to surgery. During the pre-op appointment, my daughter came with me, and he answered all of her questions as well. He was wonderful and caring during the days after my surgery, and once home, his staff quickly responded to my questions or concerns by phone and followup e-mail. I would recommend Dr. Lauter to anyone who is looking for a caring, informed, participating surgeon with a great bedside manner.

My story is a little different than most - I had a lap band put in about 10 years ago in Mexico. In April of 2010 I was at a conference in Chicago and the band slipped. I had been experiencing many problems with the band from the time I got it - reflux was the worst. After 3 days in Chicago with my slipped band I came home and started looking for a doctor to help me. I could not keep anything down - not food or water. Long story short I was desperate. After 3 to 4 weeks of going thru the normal doctor channels and getting no where, I got on the internet and found Dr Lauter's web site. I made an appointment; the girls in the office are the best they got me in as soon as he was in the office. After being rejected by many doctors and feeling like I could die I was so happy when Dr. Lauter took my case. He sent me from his office directly to Overlake Hospital where I spent the next 10 days - the first 5 were spent getting me well enough to endure surgery to remove the band - IV food and drink did the trick. He came in every day to check on me and suggested we take out the band and convert me to gastric bypass so I didn't gain the weight back that I had lost. After surgery he came to see me 2 and 3 times per day - you have to realize I was very very sick and could have died. This surgeon saved my life and I have never felt better. I have gone from 312 lbs to 145 lbs - the last 50 lbs have been after the bypass. I would recommend Dr Lauter and his staff to anyone who desires weight loss surgery. Dr Lauter really cares and he is the best - he really did save my life!

David Lauter is the best. He is very reassuring, calm, relaxed and cute which is a bonus. My first impression was very professional. I was the only person to show up for a seminar but he did it anyway.
His staff are fine. I did not feel any undue emphasis on aftercare he went over his program a few times and the resources available to me such as the support group.
He gave me the statistics on the various types of surgery.
He made sure I was aware I could call him anytime if I needed to talk.
He has an excellent reputation in this area and has been doing this surgery for many years.
Overall I rate him a 10 and would recommend him to anyone considering this surgery.

Dr Lauter is clearly amazing! I had RNY on 12/02/09 at Overlake Hospital, he was caring thru the whole process but most important to me was that he knew what he was doing, he is one of the best around, I dont regret traveling from UT to WA for one minute, not one complication and he is awesome about answering any and all questions. Kelli in his office is awesome to work with and helped me out so much. I owe so much to Dr Lauter and his staff!
