I met Dr. Kim in August, 2010 after reaching my breaking point with regards to my weight. His office got me in that same day and I began my journey. Every step of the way, Dr. Kim and his staff have been supportive, encouraging and helpful. When I had my surgery this past Thursday, he put all of my fears to rest (this was the first time I'd ever had surgery) and was encouraging to my husband as well. I know that I made the right decision going to his office instead of the two that were closer to my home. Dr. Kim is worth the drive.
I cannot recommend Dr. Kim enough. He's the best! Thanks Dr. Kim!

Dr. Kim did my VSG on 11/22 and my recovery has been awesomely smooth. My first impression of him was that he really cared about my problems related to obesity. I continued to feel that way throughout the process. His office staff is great! They are a very upbeat and helpful bunch. They each have specific tasks and they perform them well. You don't see too much of the doctor, but I know that if I had a problem (which I don't), he would be available. He has a great aftercare program. His self-pay price includes one year of aftercare and his office holds monthly support meetings for pre-op and post-op patients. I attended one pre-op and found it to be helpful. I plan to continue to attend these. I would rate his practice a 10 out of 10 as all the patients needs are met in a caring and comfortable environment. I would definitely recommend this surgeon. I believe him to have extensive experience and when someone is whittling on you - that's the most important thing...

Dr. Kim is excellent. I have NOTHING negative to say about him. NOTHING. I was able to consult with him on my first visit. He explained the detrimental consequences of obesity in a way that did not make me feel like the villain. He explained the different surgical procedures and gave me an opportunity to choose what I thought was best for me. He talked...then he listened. His office staff is PHENOMENAL. They are attentive, helpful and they are always smiling. I always feel welcome there.
Dr. Kim's staff provides comprehensive information before and after the surgical procedure. The risks and benefits are explained thoroughly and in a balanced way. The day of surgery, Dr. Kim stopped in after the procedure to check in and to tell me that all went well and that was very reassuring. The hospital, (Forest Park Medical Center in Dallas, Texas) provides a book with relevant aftercare information to see you through every stage of the recovery from surgery. Plus...the nurses are a phone call away if I need them. I was also given lots of information about aftercare and support groups.
I can see why Dr. Kim is considered among the best in bariatric surgery. I am happy to refer him to anyone in the Dallas area (or beyond) who is considering bariatric surgery. He and his staff are wonderful.
He was excellent through the whole ordeal. His bedside manner is perfect. He is so gentle and sympathetic. He understands. I love Dr. Kim. His office staff are exceptional. He along with his staff deeply care about you as a patient. He knows what he is doing and does it well. I would highly recommend him to everyone who is serious about WLS. His pre-op care and post-op care is exceptional. He is the best.

My first impression was that the office was very crowded for a single physician practice. I was concerned that the waiting time would be horrible. I was pleasantly surprised that we were called back within about 20 minutes. After we were in the room, they had a procession of staff who attended to their various areas of expertise. Since I was an out-of-towner trying to get everything taken care of in a single visit, they were especially accomodating to me. As soon as one was out, the next was in. That office runs as a well-oiled machine but not to the point that they lose the personal touch required when you're facing major surgery. The insurance specialist who had heard me whine over the phone countless times came into to greet me personally. Everyone was so welcoming. When Dr. Kim came in, he immediately set about answering any remaining questions I had and totally put me at ease with both his professionalism, his expertise, and his compassion for those in my position. While seeming incredibly knowledgeable, he was also unassuming and very patient. I felt like I was \"heard\", not patronized. While I am still in the pre-op stage, I have to say that I believe I am trusting my life to the best of the best in all respects.
On /28/09 Dr. Kim preformed a VSG on me. I have always felt comfortable in Dr. Kim's hands, and my family has a had a long history with him as a surgeon. Dr. Kim is among the best in his field, his office/staff offers excellent care, and they have really good support group/network. Finding a Dr. who is really good can be tough, finding a Dr. with friendly attentive staff can be difficult, finding a good support structure can seem impossible, finding all of these together is like mission impossible, but in Dr. Kim's team I feel we have found all of these.
I was so nervous when I went to my initial consultation, I didn't want to be and tried not to be, but I was. Every time I spoke with someone different in the office, I was more and more at ease. I thought at one point to myself, If they check my blood pressure they will say no to the surgery...lol. They didn't check it and by no means was I told no. The two hour drive home was pretty stress free. Now I have to try and quit smoking. I have been a smoker for 30 years and thought I was doing real well today until I was made to be stressed. What does a smoker do when stressed, they smoke. This will take more work.
