As a medical professional I am very selective with my care. Dr. Buchin and his staff have saved my life physically, mentally and emotionally- Being a patient over 7 years, Dr. Buchin and his staff continue to give me the Newest, Best and Compassionate care on LI. I would recommend him to anyone who wants the best and brightest in Bariatric and continued surgical care! I owe my life and continued success to him and his staff. Support groups, nutrition to continued care no matter how long post op you are they really are leaders in continued care and success. Losing over 250 lb and keeping it off over six years and through skin removal surgery with their medical care and support.
Dr. Buchin and his practice are, and were, amazing! Throughout the entire process, from information session just to learn about bariatric surgery, through follow up care after surgery, they are accessible, knowledgeable, sensitive, and caring. I felt comfortable and relaxed from the first time I stepped into his office. The monthly support groups, and Facebook patient support group foster a real sense of camaraderie among his patients, and probably increases overall compliance and long term success. Dr. Buchin even joined a group of patients for a "Color Run" 5K! Best bariatric doctor I've ever met!
In April I had a laparoscopic procedure called Nissen Fundoplication done by Dr Buchin. This procedure is done to repair the valve between the esophagus & stomache to prevent GERD. I had been suffering badly with this for many years, also I had a lot of difficulty in eating due to food getting stuck in this area when eating, almost every meal. I was in the hospital only one night post op surgery, and one week later I was fine to return to work.
I no longer have GERD, problems with eating, and I no longer take proton pump inhibitors that I had been on for a long time ( they were barely helping at this point ). This surgery resulted in an unbelievable improvement in my quality of life
Dr Buchin performed an incredible surgery for me, the results are AMAZING, and I can’t thank him enough !!!
I don't know what to say except that I feel extremely lucky to have stumbled across Dr. David Buchin's name by looking up participating providers on the HIP website. From the first conversation I had with Karla at the front desk to my surgery, I could not have asked for a better experience. I am a health care professional and have a great deal of praise for the way I was treated from the first phone call to the post-op experience with Dr. Buchin. He has a very professional, caring bedside manner. During the initial consultation, I knew I had found the right surgeon as a result of his no nonsense explanation of my situation and the level of respect with which I was treated. I have nothing but good things to report about Dr. Buchin and his staff.

Dr. Buchin and his staff are EXTREMELY professional and super helpful!! He is an amazing surgeon and I was completely prepared for what was to come pre and post surgery. He and his very knowledgeable PA ,Sophia, answered all of my medical questions ANYTIME I had them. I was not blown off by them nor their caring receptionists. The front desk staff kept on top of the insurance company and all of my doctors to get my referral letters in in a timely manner and I was called AS SOON AS the insurance approved me!!! 2 weeks post op...I felt as though nothing happened to me and they all helped me have an easy transition into my new life. I'm now almost 6 weeks post op and have never felt better in my life. They all are literally my life savers....10 years from now I would have probably had diabetes, start of heart disease, sleep apnea, high cholesterol etc. Now? My future is much brighter and will hopefully never contain any of those problems due to the decision of getting the VSG surgery 11/9/11<3

Dr. Buchin is the most talented laparoscopic surgeon I have ever encountered in my personal life and professional career as a registered nurse. He is personable, caring, and spent over 45 minutes with me in the exam room explaining all surgical options, outcomes, plan of treatment, etc. during my initial consultation. Dr. Buchin emphasizes that the surgery is not the "magic solution" and that successful weight loss from bariatric surgery is also comprised of changing bad eating habits and reguar exercise. I had previous open gastric bypass surgery in Manhattan and went to Dr. Buchin for a revision since my original surgeon had retired. My experience during the 6 month prep for surgery and the surgery/recovery itself was excellent. His office staff and Physician's Assistant, Sophie Mcleod, in addition to Lisa Becker, RN (bariatric specialist at Huntington Hospital) are outstanding as well. The education, pre and post-op, that I received was far superior to what I had received during my first surgical experience. I was thourougly prepared for the surgery, knew what to expect, and feel I have received the best possibe tools to be successful with my weight loss long-term. Post-op support groups and nutrition workshops are also available. I highly recommend Dr. Buchin!
