Dr. Glass is absolutely amazing! He makes sure you know exactly what you're getting yourself into before surgery. He thoroughly explains the risks and the expected outcomes - there are no surprises! He has high expectations and makes sure you know what you need to do in order to meet your goals. I didn't have a single complication with my surgery. I was out of bed and walking the halls only a few hours out of recovery, and the whole next day he made sure I was up and moving around. His staff is just as great. Kristin (the nutritionist) is always available for questions. I can send an email to her at 3am with a question about something and I'll generally have a response back by 7 or 8am that morning. It's such a good feeling knowing you're working with such a friendly and all around competent team of people. The *only* thing I would change would be the time it takes in the waiting room for appointments. Although it may be average, sometimes it seems to be a little long. But hey, good quality service is worth the extra wait!
On my 1st visit to meet Dr. Glass, he was sick, with a terrible cold, so he did not want to get real close to me, which was fine with me. He went over many with me, and decided that I would have to have an open RNY because of my previous nissan's. I figured that would be the case, althought it scares me. I thought he was fine, hard to form an opinion on someone after 10 minites, will update more when I meet with him again. His nurse Gerry was very friendly and nice to me.
He is a great guy he makes sure you understand everything and he takes the time to answer any questions you have. I love his staff Kristin (the Nut) is awesome she goes above and beyond for the patients!! The nurses are great too. Aftercare is as important and the pre op stuff if not more!! They have support groups and a strict plan to follow and they are always available for questions and assistance!! He is very upfront about the risk but he also gives you the percentages and lets you know what that means!! I would have to say Dr. Glass is top notch first class doctor!! Both are great but if i had to chose i would rather have surgical competence!!!
****Dr.Glass (or Papa G as some of his patients call him) is AWESOME!!! he has geat bed side manners and treats you like you are his only concern (even if you aren't)!!!
My first impression of Dr. Glass was that he was going to be my ticket to a new lifestyle. I would say that every staff member in his office is extremely sensetive to the journey we are going through. Dr. Glass is really strict about you taking this journey seriously and following his suggestions to ensure that you are successful. I really think that he cares about all his patients like they were his family. We are all one big family.
My first impression of Dr Glass was that he was very forward and to the point, Very knowledgeable and I really liked that about him. I went in wanting the lap band and came out going for the gusto because I was that comfortable with him about the whole procedure. The office staff was wonderful especially the dietician. I have recommended Dr Glass to several people and they have gone to him and have agreed with me about his personality and his beside manner. He came to see me everyday during my stay. He explained everything in depth and just made me feel very safe about having the surgery. His whole attitude was what I was looking for after going to several other doctors that did this procedure.
So far so good. I have only met him in person 2 times for about 15 min. each. He seems very thorough and direct. I can update more as time goes by.rnNow that I've had my surgery...all went fine, he stopped in to see me prior to just going into surgery, thought that was comforting. Saw him the next day, he was actually come to see me in my room but I was up for a walk and ran into him in the hall way...he was happy I was active!! Told me all went great and he expected no problems. I felt at ease with his assurance and confidence. rn12/13.................I had a slight complication, just an irritated esophagus and pouch I guess....Dr. Glass ran all the tests to make sure nothing major was going on, did everything he could to re-assure me and make things good for me. He had seen me 3 times in just a few days and still set another appt. to just check up on me next week to make sure things are healing up. His after care has really made me feel in good hands.
I really think I have made a great decision in choosing Dr. Glass. He was straightforward and no nonsense which is what I was looking for. I do not want to know about the good thing that happen with this surgery, obviously most people know about that part. I wanted to know about what happens afterwards, what he expects from this surgery for me, and he was able to answer all of those questions, as well as making sure that I am really ready for this surgery, not just letting me have it because I want to, and in turn, making sure that this is going to be a sucessful outcome. I really appreciated that from him. Following surgery I had complications and he and I both were kept awake for the night after surgery. But he really seemed to care, and even came in to check on me on his day off since I was still in the hospital. THE SECOND SURGERY: He came in and SAVED MY LIFE!! I had a leak, and he came in from his vacation to literally save my life. He then came and checked on me every single day of my 10 day stay, even though he was on vacation. He really seemed to care about me. He is amazing. I would recommend him to anyone.
Dr. Darren Glass is a fabulous surgeon. He in a no nonsense type. He knows what he's doing and he does it very well. At First I wasn't sure how to read him and it seemed like he always asked overly open ended questions, but as soon as I got more comfortable with him, I understood that he was just trying to feel me out and see if I truly wanted this for myself. His program is set up very well, if I ever had a question there was always someone there to answer and his program is very cut and dried. He is very upfront with everything, including the risks, and things that you will have to give up. But he is also very realistic and knows that people aren't perfect and will make mistakes on their diet. He is very much into educating the patient, but I do wish I could have known a little more about what my anatomy will look like in the future after my surgery. My best advice for the time you are in the hospital is to always be doing something, for him it is very important that his patients be up and moving, he doesn't like seeing you in bed so at least be in the chair.
