Daniel Lane Bariatric Surgeon M.D.
FIRST IMPRESSION WAS VERY GOOD~ THE IMPRESSION ONLY GOT BETTER EACH TIME I VISITED W/ DR LANE~~VERY GOOD BEDSIDE MANNER, CONCERNED FOR ME AS THE PATIENT (BEFORE, DURING AND AFTER) VERY INFORMATIVE~ AND WAS THE SAME WAY TOWARD MY HUSBAND WITH HIS QUESTIONS AND CONCERNS~~ OFFICE STAFF VERY NICE~~TO INCLUDE THE HOSPITAL & EVERYONE I CAME INTO CONTACT DURING MY VISITS AND STAY. HE WAS VERY INFORMATIVE AND HELPFUL WITH ANY QUESTIONS I HAD, SOMETIMES EVEN BEFORE I ASKED THEM! DR LANE IS AN OVER THE TOP 10 IN RATING!
My first impression of Dr. Lane was a good one. He was very personable and listened to me while I talked. We have met on two occassions, and I liked him more the second time I saw him. As for other patients in the future, be honest and ask questions. No question is a dumb question and he can't help you if you don't ask. He gave me details regarding the risks of surgery and makes sure you have a full understanding of them.
Dr. Lane was very honest with me about his views on the surgery. He told me how long he had been doing the surgery and talked extensively with me about the risks involved. I have really enjoyed him as a physician. I felt very comfortable with him and believe him to be very compantant in what he does. His staff was very friendly and prompt.
I had my consultation with Dr. Lane on 11/26/03. He was very personable and took his time answering all the questions I had. He explained the benefits and the risks associated with WLS as well as with any surgery. He felt confident that insurance approval would be no problem but as of today 12/29/03, I still haven't heard anything from BCBS. Dr. Lane comes highly recommended and I feel confident that I made the right choice in surgeons. He really emphasized the BEGIN program and support groups as part of an aftercare program.
I first met with Dr. Lane on September 10, 2003. My first impression of Dr. Lane was "this is an honest, straight-forward man." I asked him about the benefits I had discussed with PCP and the risks that I had heard about. He agreed with my doctor's prediction that there was a very good chance that I would be able to stop my high blood pressure and diabetic medication. He was also very frank about the risks that are involved in the surgery. The members of his staff have been both helpful and professional to date.
Future patients should be prepared for their visit; make a list of questions you want him to answer and research the surgery (this site has been an excellent resource for research and encouragement).
The medical leg of this journey has been "mapped out" by this group of doctors. The group has performed around 1,400 weight loss surgeries, and they have developed an excellent nutritional program for their patients. They are great about grouping pre-op appointments together to cut down on the out-of-town patient's trips to Mobile. This has been great for me personally because it is a 3.5-hour, one-way trip from my home to his office.
I had my first consultation with Dr. Lane
yesterday. I had already heard a little
bit about him from a friend I met via this
website, so I somewhat knew what to expect.
He is such a nice person. I was really scared
about the visit and he put me at ease
right away. He was very open to questions, so
if you are planning to see him, go ahead
and make a list. He was also very frank
about possible complications. He described
the procedure, diet, after aftercare in
detail. It was refreshing to talke with
a doctor that didn't talk down to you or
make you feel bad about yourself. He stressed
that this procedure should be something you
do, only after you have tried everything else.
He made it clear that this was something that
I needed to be committed to and that I should
not look at it as cure-all, but a tool to
help me along in my journey. He did a brief
exam (listened to my heart and lungs and
checked my belly). I never felt uncomfortable
during the entire visit with him. He is great.
I cannot imagine a better doctor for this
type of procedure or any other. He was
great!
I love Dr.Daniel Lane he was wonderful to me.
From the first time I met him and he talked to me I knew I had made the right decision to
use him as my Surgeon. He never made me feel fat or unconcern about me,I was scared to meet him because I was so big but from the moment I saw him all that went away. His staff was not real caring they had made me feel like just a number but after I had my surgery they have been real nice. When I go back for my check ups Dr.Lane is alway asking me if I have any questions and how do I feel.I feel if I had not had the surgery that I would still laying in bed 10 hours a day and never any energy and I would be taking insulin shots more so than before. He told me all the pros and cons before the surgery and told me that it was all up to me what I wanted to do.I was truly blessed with having such a fine surgeon and a good lord who guided his hands safely where need be.Thank you God and thank you Dr.lane
Dr. Lane was very informative and knowledgable about gastric bypass surgery. He had an easy job with me because I went to him well informed. He has a very good bed side manner. My impression of him has stayed the same from beginning to end. His office staff has been very good. They are helpful when I needed to call in with small problems. I have recommended him to other people that are considering having wls. I believe his only short coming is the lack of and emphasis on after care. Other doctors in this group recommend that you attend group counseling with other patients. He emphasized the risks, pros and cons of the surgery very well. I would rate him as an excellent surgeon.
This all my own personal impressions from my experiences with Dr. Lane. Your own impressions may be entirely different from my own.
