Dr. Herron and his staff are by far the best!!!!!
This surgeon was very honest about the pros and cons. He didn't sugar coat the work that is involved, the new way of looking at food, of eating food, of chewing food, of digesting food. NO QUESTION was a dumb question. His nutritionist was great and very helpful. Do your research and you will find Dr. Herron has much recognition of his skills and his pleasant bedside manner is matchless. He really cared about me, my health and even the feelings of my loved ones.

I first meet Dr Herron back in 09 when i finally made up my mind to have WLS,However because of fear i back out.I went back to him in august of 2011 and told him that i was finally ready. When he saw me again the first thing out of his mouth was nice to see you again. He asked me what happen and i told him i was not ready and he said he understood. From the first meeting with him i fell in love,When he first walks into the room he has the biggest smile on his face making you feel warm and welcome. He took his time with me and i didn't feel rushed,We talked about the surgery that i wanted and he drew me a a diagram and explain the risk and complication and what he expected.Although Dr Herron doesn't take my INS anymore i was very worried about that,He told me don't worry about it we will take care of it.Dr Herron made me feel cared about and i didn't just feel like another $$$ to him.He generally cares about his patients and wants to see them succeed.I was in hospital from 3-13-12/3-15-12 and he came to see me both days and we talked and joked,He is a totally awesome surgeon. The one draw back is that his office is extremely busy especially on Monday's so expect a little bit of a wait.
His office staff was amazing as well,Especially Nadia his Medical assistant,She pretty much took care of everything paper wise and if i needed anything all i had to do was call her and she took care of it.She did everything with a smile and that makes such of a world of a difference.Even when i called her sometimes with the most annoying things she always laugh and told me don't worry about it.
Over all i would rate Dr Herron 5 stars no questions asked,He knowledge about the WLS made me feel at ease and the fact that he had wonderful bedside manner was just the icing on the cake.If you live in the NYC tri-state area and thinking about WLS i would say check Dr Herron out.
While I get that no one is perfect, Dr. Herron is as close as can be. After meeting several surgeons in the NYC area, He was the best. He answered all of my questions (I am sure he answered the same ones a hundred times a day) with a smile and a diagram (i love diagrams) He was kind and most important patient. He was awesome with my parents who had serious concerns about going through the procedure. When we walked out of the consult, my parents looked at me and I at them and said, he is the one. rnrnHis assistant Nadia is the sweetest, kindest woman I have met. She answers all of my questions in a timely manner. The most important thing about her is that if she doesn't know the answer, she says so, then finds out the answer and then calls me back. That is so important that she doesn't talk her way through an answer. rnrnThe downside to their office is that they are very, very busy so you can't expect instantaneous service, but they try very hard to get back to you within a timely manner. rnrnMt. Sinai's hospital is awesome. The nurses are great and very attentive. rnrnThe whole team was fab. I reccomend them to anyone who is serious about this procedure.
Dr. Herron is a kind and caring physician who takes time with his patients, answers all questions, and is a genuinely nice guy. I received the very best of care from him and his staff. Although I consider myself extremely well informed, and I know that he appreciated having someone for whom he didn't have to draw pictures, I get the impression that he is the type of doctor any patient would be lucky to have and who would be willing to explain everything at length with caring and concern. I know that when I first applied to me in the ROSE study that Dr. Herron was conducting with his colleague, gastroenterologist Kenneth Miller, I had to have some tests at Dr. Miller's office. After the endoscopy and the discussion about the revision I would need, Dr. Miller looked at me and said, \"You know you have the best, don't you?\" I said, \"Yes, I gather that.\" I would give Dr. Herron a 10 out of 10.
I had BPD sugery in 2001 and have lost approximately 150 pounds. I did a lot of research before I had this surgery and went for consultations with other weight loss surgeons. I was not the least bit nervous going into this surgery because I knew I was in excellent hands. I highly recommend Dr. Herron to anyone contemplating gastric bypass surgery. I think he's the BEST!
My surgeon is wonderful! I am an extremely diligent person and Dr. Herron answered all of my MANY questions fully and warmly. I asked questions that I knew the answer to so I could question his knowledge. I asked him really off the wall questions like \"would my port go off in airport metal detectors.\" And I also asked him questions like if he ever lost a patient, how many of his patients experienced lap band difficulties. rnrnI am so excited to begin this process with someone that knows their job and has the accredation to back it!
