i Believe the Surgeon is very informative and thorough and i trusted him with my surgery, his entire staff were very helpful through out the entire process. i am very glad i was referred to this surgeon by my PCP. i would refer him to anyone who asks.

From the evening of the first seminar I attended with my husband, I knew I wanted Dr. Bacal as my surgeon. After attending several different seminars at local hospitals, I felt that he and his staff present all the options and of course, all of the risks involved with each option, with an easy-to-understand approach. I was surprised not to find more recent reviews on Dr. Bacal on OH, because he does so many surgeries, but I'm more than thrilled with my experience. Before surgery, Terry, the Program Manager & RN, made it a point to come back into pre-op and make sure I was comfortable and at ease. After surgery, Dr. Bacal & his staff visited my hospital room several times to make sure things were going as they should. At one point, I was getting very down and almost regretting my decision to have VSG done at all.. That's when Terry came in the room and gave me a much needed pep-talk and really helped me to put things back into perspective. That was EXACTLY what I needed in the moment and am really grateful for her compassion. The hospital experience itself was great (for as great as it could be after getting 80% of my stomach removed! LOL) The nursing staff was AWESOME, caring, and always available when I needed them (can you say pain meds?) I was released two days later with an Rx for a pain medicine, an anti-nausea medicine, and a follow-up appointment w/ the good Doctor a few days later. Three weeks later, and I'm feeling GREAT! Just had my second follow-up appointment this afternoon and am just as happy with Dr. Bacal as I was when I met him. He answers all my questions, takes everything I have to say seriously, and has a really friendly bedside manner. I really couldn't be more thrilled with this Doctor and his team of experts..... I really can't say enough good things about them, just go to him, you WILL NOT REGRET IT!

Dr. Bacal and his staff are fantastic! They keep their word and are both supportive and encouraging. I had had numerous abdominal surgeries, including an unsuccessful Lap-Band (performed by a different surgeon) which had also been removed. Still, Dr. Bacal was able to successfully perform a gastric sleeve surgery!

I have nothing negative to say about Dr. Bacal. He is a very compassionate doctor and I truly believe that he is concerned with my well-being. I was a little upset that he kept me in the hospital 3 extra days but I realize that it was out of concern. While I was in the hospital Dr. Bacal and his staff came in and checked with me atleast 3 to 4 times a day (even of their off days). I truly appreciated it because after 2 days in a hospital room you tend to go a little stir-crazy and it was nice to have someone sit and chat with you.

Dr. Bacal was awesome! From the first meeting I found him both professional and kind. His assistant Terry is super. During surgery they not only took great care of me but were frequently updating my family. Very good experience thus far!

My first impression of Dr. Bacal and his bariatric nurse coordinator, Terry Marentette, were very good. They both seemed very knowledgible about the RNY bypass and the Lap Band. When I first went to the bariatric seminar at Oakwood Hospital in Dearborn I didn't have insurance that covered either surgery. Terry has been wonderful! She has guided me in the right direction to obtain the proper documentation for when my insurance did cover the surgery. She is a former RNY patient herself so she knows what she is talking about. Dr. Bacal is also very friendly and makes you feel at ease.rnrnI can provide better information after I actually have surgery!rnrnI'm eight months out after surgery and just want to say that Dr. Bacal and Terry are both great! I don't think you could ask for any better!

I have never known a doctor so intensely dedicated to his patients as Dr. Bacal. Right from the start I felt at ease and knew I couldn't be in better hands! rnrnTerry, his nurse and bariatric coordinator is always encouraging and with humor. If you leave the office without a smile on your face because of her, then something is terribly wrong! She had RNY about 11 years ago and knows first hand what patients experience.rnrnTo round out the team, Lindsey, Dr. Bacal's nutritionist explains everything! And she will answer any question, by email, phone, or in person no matter how insignificant it may seem. I always see her after every appointment with Dr. Bacal. rnrnTerry and Lindsey run the monthly support group and constantly ask if there are questions, in fact, they tell you to interrupt if you have a question. Even Dr. Bacal stopped by the last support group and answered questions. rnrnI honestly can find nothing negative to say about my experience with Dr. Bacal and his staff. These are my opinions and pertain to me only. rnrn

I just love Dr. Bacal!! Only met him once but am very comfortable with him.rnTerry is awesome....I cant say enough about her. Dr. Bacal had checked in on me at least three or four times a day while I was there. Making sure my pain level was taken care of and if there were any questions he answer for me.rnMy post op visit went well....rnrnDr. Bacal is very concerned and very sincere with his patients. Ive not had a doctor like this ever.rnrnTerry come to see me a couple times a day also to make sure my liquid diet was right and that I was doing well.rnrnI love them both..cant say enough good things about them and would recommend Dr. Bacal to everyone....he is the best!!

The first time I went to a presentation on the surgery I met Dr. Bacal and Terry and I was very impressed with their camraderie. Terry knew right away what needed to be done to get my surgery covered by the insurance and she walked through every step with me. I was approved and had my surgery on 8/29/07. Both Terry and Dr. Bacal were there and I knew I was in good hands. They both came to my room to check on me numerous times during the day. If I have any questions, all I have to do is to e-mail Terry and she will answer me quickly. You can tell they both care about helping people becoming healthier and leading a healthier life. I recommend Dr. Bacal 100%. He is a true, genuine, caring doctor, and sometimes those doctors are hard to find!

Dr. Bacal is everything you could ONLY hope for in a surgeon!!!! From my first meeting with Dr. Bacal to my 6 week check up he has been wonderful. He has one of the BEST bed side manors I have ever seen for a Doctor. You never doudt for one Sec. that he doesn't have your best interest at heart. Terry is Dr. Bacal nurse. Terry is wonderful. Caring and only wanting you to do the very best. rnOakwood Hospital was just GREAT!!! The nursing care was unbelievable. Gentle, caring and making sure you feel very special. rnrnIf you are thinking about this surgrey, Please for the LOVE OF GOD... Go see Dr. Bacal.. I promise you...
