Well I've only meet him (surgeon) during the seminar back in Oct. The staff at the weight mananagement center is ok. I say that b-cuz I'm an hospital employee and the center fee has changed for us (employees) from $500 to $50. I would probably never have known if a co-worker didn't talk with me after she went to a more recent seminar. So I called them to inquire about the difference and I'm still getting the run around.....But Mama say patience is a virtue......So I'll fill you in more once I meet with him (maybe in the next 2 weeks)........Well just got a call and will meet with surgeon on 8/15......SUPER SCARED!!! I've offically meet Dr. Prickett. He is WONDERFUL and before I left the office he shared the fatalaties with me and his faith in Jesus and how he knows that NObody is perfect and he prays with all patients b-4 surgery. He also looked over all my chart and told some of what I already knew. For some reason he ask me about the Lap-band eventhough I told him I wanted the bypass. He than told me he was going to just record us for his diactation and to stop him if he omitted anything......he basically told it like it TI is. Than the nurse told me they would be getting in contact with a date......Guess I'll wait it out..............
My first impression of Dr. Prickett is that he was a soft spoken man. Well, he is but not when it comes to telling you what to do. He is direct. I love about him is that he wants to meet your support people. He spent extra time listening to my husband's concerns. He could see immediately that my DH needed additional assurances. I love the staff but you need to make sure you follow up on things. They have a lot of patients and sometimes appts and whatnot get delayed if you don't keep on top. He has a very structured aftercare program. So far I have been so happy with him. I would rate him as excellent. Both his bedside manner and his surgical competence are great. He spent a lot of time taking a very diseased gallbladder out laproscopically. He is just the greatest. I would say for myself, I should have picked a better surgery date, so that I was in the hospital over the week rather than the weekend. I just would have felt more comfortable with care from Dr. Prickett than the on call physician at the hospital.
My first impression of Dr. Prickett was good. He came across competent but also compassionate. I got the general feeling that the he and his staff were excited about giving people this oportunity to change their lives. My impression has stayed the same.
I am a very laid back easy going person. So I usually go with my gut instinct. Dr. Prickett noticed my necklace I had on at my first appointment with me. I told him it was a prayer box. He then told me that he prays for all his patients. I felt so much better.
The Weight Management Program really emphasize the risk of the surgery and the aftercare. From the first minute until now they are concerned about me knowing the risk and my responsibilities. I would rate him ***** (5 stars). It is a first class operation. I have been fortunate so far. No problems with my recovery.
There was a mixup at the time of my surgery.
I was given an early time to show up but my surgery was scheduled much later. My nerves got the better of me. Once I saw Dr.Prickett he made me feel better, him and the good drugs. (smile).
Overall I am very pleased with the medical care I have recieved and am recieving.
When I first meet Dr.Prickett, He gave me such a warm feeling about him and his staff, that they really care about there patient. The staff was great!!!!!! I asked so many questions, I know that they where tired of me. But they never showed any different feelings. At this time I really dont have any bad to say about my doctor or his staff and I hope I never would. He is a very nice man and I would tell anyone to go see for yourself. When it came to letting me know that I could Die.... He said it over, over, over again to make sure that I was aware of the side effects. And I thank God for my doctor.
Dr. Prickett was very informative and seems very detailed. The office staff was extremely helpful and compassionate. The staff handed out information on the surgery, that let me know exactly what to expect before and after my surgery. The doctor and staff went over every aspect of the information with me. So far, I would highly recommend them.
Wonderful human being- he actually picked up the phone and called me in response to an e-mail...I was having difficulty in even getting receptionist to call me back when I was making inquiries to find a surgeon. My husband and I were so impressed with this that we decided to go meet with him even though he was 100 miles away and there were surgeons who do this proceedure in the city we live.
He and his staff are very people oriented and really care about your total well-being not just the mechanics of the operation.
The initial surgery went well but I encountered some complications and required gall bladder surgery about 9 months after the by-pass. I chose to return to him for this surgery in spite of the distance and I am here today because I did. The major complications I had following the gall bladder surgery nearly killed me ( 2 additional surgeries,6 days in ICU and nearly a month in the hospital) but he and his staff were always there looking out for my interest and for my husband when I was not able to be my own activist.
I follow up with Dr. Prickett several times a year and he and his staff always welcome me to support group meetings when I choose to travel to them and the diatician, support group facilitator and his nurse practicioner always return my calls and always ask about my support network since I am not close enough for them to be my primary source.
I feel I was so fortunate to have found Dr. Prickett and his clinic because I found competence, caring, compassion and a guide for my own journey. No one( including doctors) is perfect, but I'll take a skilled, straight forward and caring doctor and staff anyday.
Over 186 lbs weight loss in the last year and a half,I am not quite at my goal yet and still have nutritional and other health issues. However, the journey has been so much more than I ever anticipated and because of the bad bumps in the road, I have greater appreciation for the sweetness of the victories I have found so far and the ones to come.
