Craig Chang Bariatric Surgeon

I really liked Dr. Chang. He looked younger than I expected, but was very professional and intelligent. Everyone in the office was great that I've spoken with so far. The only thing that I was confused about is that I went in wanting the band and Dr. Chang recommended the bypass. I asked him just based on the mortality rate, isn't the band a better choice? I just can't see myself being okay with being internally cut up and rearranged!!! I told him twice that if he recommended the bypass, I'd go with it, but he told me both times to think about it. I did the rest of the necessary appointments and was so confused. I just couldn't see myself being okay with agreeing to the bypass. I'd heard good things about Dr. Chang from another patient of his and I feel very comfortable with the thought of him performing my surgery. I like that he's very serious about making a lifestyle change and will NOT do your surgery if you come back after your initial appt and you've gained weight. Mine will be hard since it's over the holidays, so I'm going to start being more consistent and just wait to hear back from my insurance company!

I have met with Dr. Chang 2 times now and from all that we have talked about, I am very happy with my decision to use him as my surgeon. He seems to be very concerned that I not only loose some weight but that I use this tool along with proper diet and exercise to reach my goal weight and stay there. Everyone that I have talked to has nothing but good things to say about him. His office staff is also very, extremely helpful..they have scheduled all of my appts. for me, all I had to do was show up. They have also been very helpful in answering all of my questions. The hospital staff at Citizen's Hosp. was top notch. They were so caring and helpful. Never treated you like just another bed to take care of, they truely were concerned about you as an individual and your comfort. The hospital room was really nice, it is a private room with wooden floors. This wing at the hospital is devoted to WLS and everyone that is walking up and down the halls is another patient that has been through WLS just like you. Dr. Chang continued to impress me with his bedside manner. He came by to see me everyday and didn't leave without asking me if I had any questions. He also called in the middle of the night to check on me and to make sure that I was getting my liquids in so I could go home the next day. I am not sure if he sleeps or not!
