Dr. Frantzides is a competent surgeon. Evanston Hospital's bariatric coordinator, Karen Thomas, RN is AMAZING. She is always there when we need her not to mention that she understands the patient's physical and emotional issues very well as she had open RNY surgery herself over three years ago and has maintained a loss of over 230lbs. I always look forward to her support groups monthly.

Karen is an angel in disguise. Saying Karen Thomas, RN is a credit to her profession would truly be an understatement.

Dr. Frantzides is grreeaat! I was impressed with him and the staff from the first moment I encountered them. It felt very personable and genuine our first meeting. Karen Thomas his nurse is wonderful there is no substitute for her talents with the patients. I had surgery on sept. 20th 2004 and I look and feel great. I have had no sickness or complications. no vomiting, no nausea, no dumping, nothing at all and I thank God and I am so grateful to have had this experience with this particular group of people. I also want to thank Zeni and Gerri is very helpfull and kind. I have lost 50pds so far, in just under 8 weeks. I have no regrets and truly enjoy my follow-up visits with this team. God Bless.

In the past 3 and a half years, I have had four surgeries, including a spinal disc repair, gall bladder removal, and a double spinal fusion. The last thing I wanted was another surgery. My weight had skyrocketed to 350 pounds and after researching gastric bypass surgery, I knew that I had to take this next step in order to live my life. After much research I decided on Dr. Frantzides, eventhough it meant traveling from Cincinnati, Ohio to see him. Dr. Frantzides and his staff were everything I hoped for and more. They were kind, very knowledgeable and from my first appointment on I knew I had made the right decision. A decision that would ultimately save my life - literally.

Because of my previous surgeries, I had a lot of scar tissue in my abdomen. Dr. Frantzides informed me after my surgery that there was a lot more scar tissue in there than there should have been, and it presented him with a challenge. The scar tissue was so severe, that it had tangled itself around my small intestines. Although most doctors at this point would have opened up my abdomen, Dr. Frantzides spent the extra time, and had the skill to be able to continue my surgery laproscopicly, complete the bypass and clear out the scar tissue - heading off a possible bowel obstruction that the scar tissue could have caused. If I had not had the surgery, this is a problem that could have been very serious down the road. I know now, that if I'd had any other doctor, they would have had to change to an open procedure because it would have been the easier path to take.

I am now three weeks post-op, and I have had literally no complications. Karen Thomas in the doctor's office has played a large role in the success of this operation. She took the time out in the hospital the day after the surgery and to this day she helps me with numerous questions. She has superior knowledge on both pre and post-op questions and is an amazingly kind and generous person with her time and very pleasant to talk to. I know in the future, it will be because of Dr. Frantzides and his staff that I will live a happy, healthy life.

Dr. Frantzides had a great bedside manner, and struck me as a very competent surgeon. I grew more and more confident with him as a physician over time, and I was willing to put my life in his hands. His office staff is simply remarkable. I've never been treated so well by the staff of a doctor's office.

Future patients should know that he is one of the best doctors in the country. I traveled from Cincinnati, Ohio to have him do my surgery after considering other doctors closer to home. Overall I would rate him as one of the best physicians I have ever met in my life.

Dr. Frantzides and staff at ENH (Evanston, Illinois) are quite simply the best in the business from every aspect. I'm very new into post-op (lap ryn) so I can't really comment on too much more at the present time, but will as time goes on.

I liked Dr. Frantzides right away, he put me at ease, he came highly recomended. I'm so impressed with him he is the best. I was going to have my surgery done in New York and I became very unsure of the Doctor there and that is when I came to see Dr. Frantzides. I just love him he turned my life around. Dr. Frantzides follows up and he is very honest with you. The staff has been great. The support groups are wonderful. The risk of the surgerys were clear and worth it to me. I would give Dr. Frantzides an AAA+

A overall rating of Dr. Frantzides is a perfect 10**** because of his great skills, great personality, and still professional manner.

My first impression of Dr. Frantzides was the fact that he was a warm, compassionate person. This would be the key that enabled me to listen to him any further. He and his nurse are very professional and highly skilled at what they do. Since I am also in healthcare, this was a great plus!! These are the skills that I seek in medical professionals. Dr. Frantzides outlined the process for me. I had all of the pre-op consultations and procedures done that enabled my surgeon to make sound decisions. My surgery was done on a Monday morning. I was ambulating later that afternoon. Then, discharged from the hospital on Wednesday. After returning home to recooperate, I was able to go back to work with light duties within 3 weeks. Aftercare, which he really stressed, was important for the overall success. I was pleased with his surgical competence.

Dr. Frantzides totally did not meet my expectations; he surpassed them!! I have the best surgeon in the whole world! By no means did I expect to fall head over heels for Dr. F. I would definitely recommend him to anyone contemplating this surgery… Heck, I wish he were my surgeon when I had thyroid surgery last year! I feel very confident that he will do an awesome job.

Dr. Frantzides has an excellent bedside manner and is very reassuring (not to mention, he is extremely charming). I did not feel like I was speaking to a salesman nor did I feel like I was merely a number. His office has been very responsive (unlike other offices I have contacted) and accommodating. Seldomly do people find such a caring doctor and staff such as this.

His staff members (Karen and Jerri) are very nice, and knowledgeable. Since both Karen and Jerri have had this surgery, I feel I simply cannot go wrong this team. Everyone spent plenty of time with me, and made sure that all my questions were answered. Not once did I feel rushed. Dr. Frantzides, Karen and Jerri, made sure I knew that they would always be available if I need anything. Dr. F said that I could page him anytime… talk about a Doc who cares! Dr. Frantzides is the epitome of compassion!

I am also impressed by the number support group sessions available. In addition, I really appreciate their policy of everyone is welcomed (pre-ops, friends, and family members) to these sessions. Dr. Frantzides group must have the most support group sessions in all of Illinois.

I totally feel like I have made 3 new friends today. In addition, I truly feel blessed; I just wanted to hug all of them! I feel there are no words to best express what I am feeling right now! I am totally ecstatic!!!

On a scale of 1-10, I would rate Dr. Frantzides a 1000!


**Update**

My experience with Dr. Frantzides was awesome. I had no complications during and after surgery, and he visited me everyday while I was hospitalized. In addition, he made sure I was comfortable at all times. Dr. F. is a miricle worker and I choose him again in a heartbeat. I felt very safe in his hands, and I look forward to seeing him 11/05.

Dr. Frantzides is great. He has a wonderful staff. Each and everyone makes you feel comfortable and will answer any of your questions. He described everything that would happen and had ample time for me to ask question.

Dr. Frantzides is very experience. I found out about him from one of my friends who had surgery in March. I've been thinking about doing this for a long time and was scared. He and his staff were very reassuring. My girl friend has lost 90 lbs in 6 months and looks terrific. I figured if she could do it, I could do it.

He has both pre and after surgery programs. Unfortunately, I travel a lot for my job and can't participate like I would like to.

I had surgery only 4 days ago. I had the operation at 11:00 and was up and walking around by 5:00. Unbelievable! I assume you know I had RNY (laparoscopic surgery )

I would highly recommend Dr Frantzides to anyone consider bariatric surgery.

The hardest part of preparing for surgery was working with my primary care doctor. There are soooo many procedures that must be done before surgery and trying to coordinating all the procedures and getting all the doctors to send all the information to the right place was a major headache.
