Christine Chu Bariatric Surgeon M.D.
Dr. Chu is one of the most compassionate MD's I've ever met. She held my hand in the OR while they were putting me under! Never had that happen before. She is also extremely thorough and knowledgeable. One of the best in her field. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking to have bariatric surgery.
Dr Chu has been great and professional start to finish. She allowed me time to question procedures, walk me through things that were going to happen, and was compassionate and caring during anxiety times (especially just before surgery). I can only write my review for the pre-op and operation itself... as I won't have my post op follow up for another week, but would highly recommend her
Dr. Chu is a very friendly person. She is a mom and a surgeon that really cares about her patients. I have no complaints about her other than her calendar seems really packed and she is often running behind. That is because she really spends time with her patients and answers all questions put to her.
She told me that "I was not wasting one second of her time if I changed my mind and decided to not have the surgery."
She even asked me the day OF the surgery if I still wanted to do it and wanted to give me an out if I wanted one. I highly recommend Dr. Chu, she is awesome! The preop nurses ROCKED, postop nurses were a little less highly rated but overall I cannot complain about the care I got.

My fist impression of Dr.Chu was she is very straight foward, caring, and knows what shes talking about! She is great, everyone in her office is so nice and seem to really care about patients. After my surgery she came to visit my several times to make sure I was okay and had everything I needed even thought my surgery was perfect she said. She made sure I had everything I needed to go home and then some and made sure I didnt have any unanswered questions. I would recommend her to anyone I know for any surgery!
Dr. Chu has been a wonderful doctor through out the entire process. She answers emails directly and timely. She has been very responsive to my questions and when I have had issues relating to surgery. I had to return to the hospital and she called me in my room as soon as she found out and arrived to discuss what we could do. Her recommendations did the job. rnShe does speak quickly which some may take as rushed. I didn't go into the process expecting my hand to be held by my surgeon so I never felt I was being pushed through. They do run a tight schedule but I was given plenty of time and opportunity to pose any concerns or questions. I am very happy with Dr Chu. rnI would rate her a 10 out of 10.
Kaiser Fremont, Surgeon is Dr. Chu. She was a very pleasant person. She sounds confident and knowledgeable.rnrnSurgery date. OCTOBER 1ST 2008rnrnAfter all was said and done, I did have an issue with her listening to my concerns, she just talked over me and blew me off. She ignored my complaints then I later found out I had gastritis that could have been settled with my first complaint that lasted for a month. Then another episode of discomfort, no weight loss then finally, weight gain. When I finally spoke to me she suggested I must be eating too much............... Not the case. Dunno what it was but thank God I'm better now.
My first impression of Dr. Chu was that she is extremely professional and knowledable. I felt comfortable. Overtime, I began to see her, not just as my surgeon, but as a person. She's a wife, a mom and a very caring person. rnrnKaiser Fremont is an extremely busy office. The are short staffed and over whelmed. The wait times can be frustrating. Getting an actual person on the phone can be frustrating. I have also felt at times the front desk staff was slightly unproffesional.rnrnOverall, I would give Dr. Chu a 10 out of 10. I loved having her as my surgeon.
