I have Lap Band and am approximately a year past surgery. I am very pleased with Dr. Weiss and his staff. I have made great progress, despite other medical obstacles slowing down my exercise. I feel very confident that if I continue to follow the recommendations from the doctor and dietitian, I will successfully reach my goal.
I have felt very comfortable with the team every step of the way....there was one time where I was a little nervous, but the nerves were gone after Dr. Weiss said he'd take good care of me....I truly believed him and thus far everything is good!
I would recommend Dr. Weiss to anyone considering weightless surgery!
Oh, and the support groups held at the hospital are great....I need to get back to it! The people in support group are nice and will give it to you straight!

I had Dr. Weiss while he was at Upstate Medical Center. He was very warm and friendly. Answered all my questions. When I had some problems after surgery he was their to handle the problem. He left university after I had my surgery so that was a disapointment. I would rather had been able to talk to him when I had a problem. I felt like when he left I was no longer University paitient. He had very good bed side manners and his surgical competence was up to speed. If you go to him you will love him. He will be honest and upfront with you.

My first impression of The Doctor were complete comfort!!! He is great, absolutely great. His office staff is the best. I had been through the ringer,I had done the whole program in Syracuse and had my surgery scheduled when I recieved a phone call telling me university would not be participating with my insurance any longer and If I had surgery I would have to pay!! Well long story short after freaking out I called auburn, spoke to Jean who told me what I needed to do. Went to the info meeting met the doc and Christie, quickly got my appt. scheduled. Got my testing scheduled and they got me in for surgery the day BEFORE I was originally scheduled. Dr. Weiss called me personally the day after my endoscopy and the day after I got home from surgery. I have felt really cared for there, everyone from the office visited the hospital, I cannot imagine how great they are when you have done the whole program with them. I have felt amazing since my sugery and walked a mile 5 days out. No dumping, no yuckies, I feel so great!!! Hats off to doc Wiess and his staff!! Thank you so much!!

He is a quiet man. He tells you what you need to know and that's good. I liked his staff very much. Becky, his secretary at that time, was right there to answer any question I had. I called all the time, and she welcomed me to call back anytime. One thing I think he should brush up on, is patients on anti-depressants. I was not in good shape for a week after the surgery because I was taken off of them. It took a few days before they started to take effect again. Besides that, I am six months out and have lost 67 pounds. I know I'm not at 100, but I love how things are going. Slow is a good thing too. There is a support group every Wednesday at the hospital. I think Dr. Weiss has a good bedside manner and a wonderful surgeon!

Dr Weiss was an orginal DR to say the least. He was warm and listened to my thoughts and concerns. When He did my Scope to see my anatomy of my old vbg He called me to see if I was ok.. I was hooked then... With the help of his staff I kicked a smoking habit of over 25 years he did my surgery 8 days ago . He was in my room every day twice a day. DR. CARL WEISS IS ONE OF THE LAST DOCTORS IN THIS WORLD WHO ACTUALLY CARES ABOUT HIS PATIENTS!!! I LOVE YOU DOC... THANKS FOR EVERYTHING!!!!

I started looking into this last July (2006). I started with Dr.Oh. To make a long story short I was approved within 2 weeks and then Dr.Oh told me that he wasnt going to be able to do the surgery. I was refered to Dr. Weiss. I met him yesterday and couldnt be happier. He's very nice and I am so glad that I had to switch to him. He told me that he would take very good care of me and I believe him. He answered my questions and made me feel good about the surgery. His staff is very nice. He went over everything that I need to know and was very helpful.

My first impression was at the informational meeting and I thought he was very intelligent, informative and personable. His office staff is very helpful and have been much on the ball, when ever I have called or left a message the return call has been very prompt, we are moving right along with all of the pre surgical appointments.rn He emphasized the importance of presurgical support group meetings and post surgical meetings, rnand how the surgery isn't an easy fix, it is a total life changing process. He also was very into the risks of major surgery, and overall a 9.75 out of 10. I feel as a patient, I do not have to \"like\" my surgeon........he only has to be excellant at his job......Dr. Weiss has both competence and compassion, and he thinks I am good crazy!

4/4/2006 Dr. Weiss has agreed to take me on as a patient, after my first surgeon Dr. Oh refused to participate with insurance any longer and requested 6000.00 down. Dr Weiss is new to the Auburn NY area, spoke with him on the phone today, was very nice. They are even able to get me in for my first appointment with him tomorrow! I feel very positive about this change.
4/5/2006 Met with Dr. Weiss and couldn't be happier. He is a kind soft spoken gentleman who I felt listtened to my concerns and questions and addressed them both. His staff is wonderful, efficient and friendly. Would highly recommend to anyone.
