I have met with Dr. McDaniel twice now and I find him to be very reassuring. He is very patient and took his time to address all my concerns. I am very confident that I have chosen the right surgeon. He has a great staff his PA Ron is wonderful very considerate and explains the procedure in detail and answers all your questions in fact he doesn't leave the room until he is sure he has answered all your questions. He took extra time on my second visit to explain this procedure to my 15 yr old son. Veronica his scheduling coordinator was great even with me probably driving her crazy with phone calls nearly every day. I met 3 patients of Dr. McDaniels a few days ago at support group who have had surgery in the last 3 weeks everyone is doing great some felt so great they went back to work after only a week. I feel like he and his PA were careful to cover all the risk and benefits I never felt pressured to have the surgery it has always been my decision and mine alone. I find that he has a aftercare program that seems to be superior than that offered by other surgeons.
All the staff in Dr. McDaniel's office seem to be nice and friendly and very helpful. The Doctor is very young and seems to really care about his patients. My parents know a retired doctor in Victoria. My mother called to ask his wife (a retired nurse) if they knew Dr. McDaniel. She told mom, she knew he and his wife and family very well and he was doing excellent work and really helping a lot of people make wonderful changes in their lives and she highly recommended him. It certainly helps to know someone who thinks so highly of the doctor you are placing so much trust in. After meeting him in the office and then later at a pouch pals meeting in Corpus Christi, I agree with her assessment. He really seems to care about his patient's health and well being for the long haul, not just the short term.
First impression, wow, he looks so young! He still looks young, however; after speaking with him regarding the surgery he is very intelligent and specializes in laparoscopic surgery. The staff is very friendly. Can't think of anything negative about anyone there. Dr. McDaniel answered all of my questions truthfully and quickly. I feel much better about having the surgery now. I believe his competence is great and bedside manner, well that's yet to come.
Dr. McDaniel has a pefectly wonderful bedside manner. He spends time with you answering all your questions and making sure your comfortable. I am completely satisfied with my care at the hospital and Crossroads Surgical Associates.
This Dr. is heaven sent. He really cares for his patients. He makes sure that his office staff is there to help in anyway. He has commited his time to having a support group that meets once a month. He brings in anyone
that can help the needs of the support group.
He emphasizes before and aftercare. He is very good at what he does. I can asure you that you are in the best of care. His surgical competence and bedside matter are the best.
Dr. Dean is the best. He is so kind and caring. I feel that he cares about his patients as individuals not as cases. From the time I walked into his office, his staff was wonderful. They are the most positive people. I have never been comfortable in a doctor's office because of my weight. I actually look forward to going.
I had my surgery on May 5th, 2003. All went so well. I am doing great and have boundless energy. I go once a month for shots and vitamins.
I, personally, think Dr. McDaniel was the answer to many, many hours of prayer. I thank God for him and his wonderful staff.
His pre-op counseling and advice was great. At the time, I thought it was over-kill, but now I see the importance of working on the inside as well as the outside. Since surgery he has emphasized exercise and counseling.
His skill as a surgeon is great. I only missed 1 week of work and felt great when I went back.
I hope this helps someone. I really did have the most positive experience. I don't have anything negative to say. He is the best!
I had met Dr. McDaniel before I decided to have WLS. I have always felt he was compassionate and caring. He took the time to answer all my questions in depth. He was very helpful and informative. His office staff were very helpful and knowledgeable. Dr. McDaniel briefly emphasized the importance of aftercare. He was up front about the risks of having WLS. Dr. McDaniel is a highly competent surgeon and has a good bedside manner.
I have an appt. with Dr. McDaniel now in Victoria for March. I have seen my family doctor and he feels it would of great benefit to have the surgery. He says he will give me a referral and anything else he can do to help. Dr. McDaniel office seemed so very nice and friendly on the phone. I look forward to meeting them.

Well, I visited my surgeon yesterday. I am very pleased with Dr. McDaniel. He is very nice, pleasant, and informative. His staff was helpful and I have no complaints. He emphasize after care that this is a tool. It isn't a miracle, but it is the closest thing to it in my opinion. I would definitely recommend him at this point.
