Aslam Ilahi Bariatric Surgeon M.D., F.A.C.S.

My first impression of Dr. Ilahi was not that good. I had actually decided not to go through with my surgey. I had a freind use Dr. Ilahi and was satisfied with him so I decided to go ahead and use him for my procedure. The office staff is very helpful and friendly. The hospital thst I was in I will ot say anything good about at all. I felt like test monkey being cared for by a bunch of student nurses. I will never have another procedure at San Jacito Methodist Hospital in Baytown, Texas. The surgery from Dr. Ilahi went great but the nurses are in-experienced I have nerve damage to both of my ars because of them. Dr. Ilahi is a good doc and checked up on me very well.

Dr. Ilahi was very respectful and caring when I met him. He answered all my questions thoroughly. His staff was very kind and encouraging throughout the procedure and follow-up.
He was very honest regarding my eating habits and the changes I would have to make and stressed to me that in most cases, the only patients who were not successful after bariatric surgery were ones who continued to drink regular sweetened soft drinks and eat ice cream. I would have to change this if I wanted to lose weight and get my blood pressure down out of stroke level.
Dr. Ilahi and his staff discussed all the risks of surgery with me, and my nutritional and exercise needs following surgery. They called me at home several times following surgery to check up on me and see if I had any problems or concerns. I was most impressed by this level of care.
I would rate Dr. Ilahi with the highest marks possible, and consider both his surgical competence and his bedside manner to be exceptional. I have referred countless friends and family to him.

I had my first visit with Dr. Ilahi in Dec 02. I felt kinda rushed with my appointment. I was scheduled for my egd 1-10 and I told his office staff I felt a little rushed with my cons and still had some questions. They scheduled me to come back for another cons and bring a list of my questions. I fell alot better now. He answered all my questions I asked. His office staff Ruby and Shannon are wonderful. They are really helping me get through this. After 1-10 it will be a waiting game with ins.

I WAS VERY IMPRESSED WITH DR. ILAHI HE ANSWERED EVERY QUESTION AS IF I WERE HIS ONLY PATIENT. HIS OFFICE STAFF HAS BEEN WONDERFUL AND VERY PATIENT WITH ME BECAUSE I HAVE HAD A TOM OF QUESTIONS. HE TELLS EVERYTHING THAT WILL OR COULD HAPPEN DURING AND AFTER SURGERY AND HE DID NOT HIDE ANYTHING. I WOULD SAY HE IS AN EXCELLENT DR.I WOULD SAY HIS SURGICAL COMPETENCE IS THE BEST AND HIS BEDSIDE MANNER IS OK.

He was very nice and pleasurable to talk with. He came to me very highly recommended, so I knew I would like him from the start. He doesn't have the "attitude" of a typical doctor. He is very layed back. My only concerned was with one of the hospitals he is afflicated with, but he eased my concerns right off. His office staff was GREAT!!! They scheduled my endoscopy while I waited. I was able to get the test done on the day I requested, which is on Friday. They told me not to worry about the insurance paperwork. They would handle it all!! Dr. Ilahi has a wonderful bed side manner. I feel greatful that I found him and his staff.

I felt very comfortable with Dr. Ilahi after meeting with him him.
I still feel very comfortable with Dr. Ilahi. The more I get to know him, the more comfortable he is with me. He does not just tell me what I want to hear. He is very straightforward about things. I find this helpful. Others may find it somewhat abrasive.
Dr. Ilahi's office is very small and very intimate. He currently has two staff people working for him and they are both very kind and helpful.
I noticed that Dr. Ilahi can be very impatient and borderline rude to hospital and nursing staff.
I would like for everyone to know that Dr. Ilahi is extremely dedicated to his patients. He is the first doctor that I have ever had that either came to my room or called my room every day that I was in the hospital.
Personally, I don't believe that aftercare was emphasized at all. But, each person is different and has different needs. I personally don't think I needed any structured aftercare program. I did have a few problems and Dr. Ilahi took care of them in a most professional and expedious manner.
Dr. Ilahi addressed the risks of surgery just like every other surgeon does. The only difference though is that Dr. Ilahi also addressed what would happen if I did not listen to what he said regarding the effects of this particular type of surgery.
Personally, I would rate Dr. Ilahi as a highly qualified and competent surgeon.
I want someone that I can trust and to answer my questions without making me feel like an idiot.
