I first met Dr. Hargroder in his conference room with about 40 other people. He talked to all of us at the same time to explain the different types of weight loss surgery and the risks and advantages of each one. He was very patient and answered all our questions.rnrnSince that day, the only time I have seen him is the day of surgery and the day of release from the hospital. Otherwise, I have only seen his PA, Holly. She is very nice and knowledgeable but I PAID to see the Doctor.rnrnDr. Hargroder's staff are all very nice, but a bit scattered and unorganized. They recently had to move to a new building and hospital, but even before that, they were same way.rnrnThey didn't right my name down on the appointment register for my first post-op visit. The doctor was already gone and so was most of the staff. We had to contact Holly and ask her to come back to the office to see me since I had traveled 40 miles to go for my post-op visit.rnrnThere is a support group every week for Dr. Hargroder and Dr. Bellanger's patients. It is very informative and you get good support from others who have had weight loss surgery.rnrnThere really is not a structured aftercare program. If I did not follow up myself, I believe I would NOT be contacted by anyone in his office.rnrnI think Dr. Hargroder is an excellent surgeon, and he has a great bedside manner. However, he has his hands in too many endeavors to give good individualized attention to his patients and his staff is ultimately just as busy. I believe he needs to slow down and smell the roses so to speak. rnrnI will say that if you INSIST on seeing Dr. Hargroder rather than his PA, you will see him. rnrnOverall, mine has been a good experience, but I have had to follow up on things myself to make sure everything that needs to be done is done. rnrn

Excellent... I was very pleased with my outcome (so far) I didn't even need pain medication following surgery... I would have enjoyed it, but I was too afraid of getting nauseated... and as it turned out, I didn't even need them. My whole experience was pretty near perfect.

Dr. Hargroder is a personable, friendly man who seems to seriously empathize with the obese patient. He always treats me with the utmost respect and kindness, answering all my questions in a professional and caring manner.rnrnHis office staff, including Cindy, who is the person I know most at this point, shares the empathy and caring attitude which is displayed by Dr. Hargroder.rnrnThere is an active support group associated with Dr. H's practice. rnrnOver all I would rate Dr. H as a 10 out of 10 !!!

I really haven't had much time to develop an impression of him other than knowledgeable.

well surgery is over and I am home and all is well. I am grateful to have had a surgern like Dr. Hargroder. He was very good at letting my family know how things went and I do so very much appreciate that. I would recommend him to anyone in this area that is considering WLS.

My 1st impression of Dr. Hargroder was great. He is very confident and personable. He is not afraid to take on high risk patients and people with special requests. Not to mention really nice on the eyes. He don't look nothing like the picture in here. Anyway, I was very impressed but my DH was impressed too. That was a shock, it really takes a lot to impress him. My impression of him did not change it only got better. He was and is a great surgeon, with an excellent reputation. I absolutely love everyone in his office with one exception. I'm not to keen on his assistant. She didn't do anything wrong, just didn't impress me much at all and has no bedside manor at all. I guess that is what I liked least about him and his staff. I really think he can do much better. I didn't like the fact that in my post op visit he did not see me, his assistant did. I asked his Adm assistant (my girl - Christy, absolutely wonderful person) about that, she said all I have to do is request to see Dr. H and he has no problem seeing his post ops, he lets his assistant do it to speed up things while he is seeing new patients and since post ops usually have no problems, its quicker that way. I personally feel I paid for a Dr. not a PA. His practice offers excellent after care and wants to follow us for 3 - 5 years. This is included in his surgical costs, which are great!!! 11,900 total for everything!!! He offers a support group with classes every Wed. night in house, website support group and much more. I was informed of all risks of surgery beforehand, but I was very informed before I contacted him. He had no problem spending time with me answering any questions I had. On a scale of 1 - 10 with 10 being the best, I would rate him a 1000 or better. Everything about my experience was great as far as he is concerned. I highly recommend Dr. Hargroder and his office staff. I would tell anyone, He is the greatest!rnTammy Spitchley
