Dr. Keidar is with out a doubt the finest bariatric surgeon in Israel, and the only one to offer the technically more difficult duodenal switch laparoscopically. At the time I had surgery he was practicing at Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem, so my review pertains to my experience there. As of early 2011 he is practicing at Beilinson Hospital in Petach Tikva.

I research a few different surgeons before picking Dr. Keidar, and I could not be happier with my results. I had no surgical complications and an eventless recovery. He even came to see me in the hospital on Saturday.

Surgical risk and long term risk was discussed in detail during my one-on-one appointment with him. We discussed the risks of vitamin deficiencies, committing to long term follow up care and other potential problems that occur with the DS, such as excess gas and diarrhea. I felt well prepared for surgery. He went over the risks right before surgery as well.

What really impressed me though is his dedication to his patients. He is available by email (very important to me) and by phone. He also pro-actively emailed me to remind me to come in for a follow up appointment, which is not something most (if any) surgeons would do. This is particularly impressive when in the public health system it would be easy to pawn off followups on someone else or ignore them all together. He has quite the fan club and it is easy to see why.

Overall - very competent, excellent surgeon and caring.
