I did extensive research in selecting my surgeon. Dr Villares is a very rare find . . . young, bright and incredibly talented with extremely impressive educational credentials and experience. Dr Villares is a surgeon's, surgeon -- one of the rare ones who can rightfully claim \"great hands\" for laproscopic surgery. Of the small number of surgeons meeting my requirements, Dr Villares topped my list. Frankly, I would have traveled a great distance to have him handle my case but as good fortune would have it, he was right here in Phoenix.

Dr. Villares and staff are very professional. I received a quick appointment and surgery date. He went over all the different options with me. He ended up performing a vertical sleeve gastrectomy on 2-8-07. He was excellent prior to surgery in the hospital. He was at my room right after recovery and helped me to take my first steps. My recovery has been painless. Without any complications what so ever. His attention to detail was amazing. He drew pictures, explained the surgery, post and pre op. I could not be happier. I was very sceptical about weight loss surgery. But, Dr. Villares assured me of the outcome to be positive. And was he ever right. I have lost 34 lbs in 3 1/2 weeks. I feel great, and can excercise now. I look forward to my new life.rnThanks Dr. Villares!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He is quite and very professional. He addressed all my questions and concerns. I was very happy with my surgeon and the overall outcome. rnrnHis staff was excellent. I had trouble getting a referral because of my primary doctors personal beliefs about the surgery, and Pat, an office staff member helped me get over that hurdle. The other staff members were so nice and supportive. I don't think I could have found a better team.

Dr. A. Villares' group introduction about the procedure and the Q and A session that followed made me feel confident in his skills and the decision to have the RY surgery in Phoenix. It is a six-seven hour drive from my home but was well worth it to have the best surgeon available.rnrnI had to stay in Phoenix at least until my two week check up. I went to the support group at Banner Good Samaritan, which is EXCELLENT, especially the nutrition and psychological discussion groups. Wish I could attend every week.rnrnDr. Villares' follow up and personal attention to detail before, during and after the surgery were excellent. He is also available for \"plastic\" work when I reach and maintain my goal weight. So I plan on coming back.rnrnOffice staff is caring and professional. They are very busy so you have to keep up with them. I am so happy with my results my sister also had her surgery with him.rnrnHis surgical competence is remarkable. Only 45 minutes under anesthesia is typical for the laproscopic procedure done by him. This was very important to me. His bedside manner is great and quickly returns \"I have a problem\" phone calls personally.rnrnHe says most of his patients loose 75% to 80% of their excess weight (if they follow the rules and add in exercise) by one year. I am over 80% loss at 10 months and could not be happier. Did not vomit even once. Had my first and only \"plugged up\" stomach pain at 9 months post op from eating one tablespoon of peanutbutter without also having applesauce, yogurt or something slippery with it. DON'T do THAT! rnrnThe support group consists of various doctors' patients. Patients of Dr. Villares all have nothing but \"rave reviews\" also. I would and do recommend him to everyone. One family member is coming all the way from Chicago to check him out.rnrnrnrnrnrn

Dr. Villares is highly trained and has excellent outcomes. He is very confident in his technical expertise and refines his technique as evidence based practice changes. He answers questions in a very thorough manner with sensitivity toward the patient's level of knowledge. I have absolutely no doubt in my mind that we will do an exceptional job with my procedure.

I met Dr. Villares on 25 Jul 06 at his seminar at Banner Good Samaritain Medical Center. My 1st impression was, well I shouldn't say this but ok, I will be bold & say it... \"WOW, he's the doctor!\" *grin* Extremely easy on the eyes!rnrnThen during the seminar his personality came through as confident, caring, super sense of humor & really \"down to earth\"!! rnrnOver all, I found him to be the kind of doctor I could trust with my life. Even my husband found him to be an exceptional doctor.rnrnI have my first consultation with him in two days, so I'll update this when that is completed.rn

When I first heard Dr. Villares speak at the mandatory seminar on WLS, I found him both personable and extremely knowledgeable; my opinion has not changed, since meeting him face-to-face in his office.rnrnHis office staff is very friendly and professional and I enjoy talking to them because they know me by name every time I call or have an appointment.rnrnSo far, I have felt nothing but comfortable in his office, when talking to him or his staff.rnrnDr. Villares works hand-in-hand with the Bariatric Center at Banner Good Samaritan Hospital, in Phoenix. Good Sam has a complete staff of psychologists, exercise physiologists and nutritionists at the disposal of the WLS patient - not to mention the ongoing support groups, which meet every week.rnrnI am very confident in my success with such a great support team and surgeon.rnrnI will be sure to update my thoughts and feelings after my surgery - to give a more well-rounded opinion of my experience.rn

Dr. Villares is very personable and very knowledgable. I had only met him once in his office and he was very nice and spoke very quietly. Which was a change for me from previous surgeons I have had to meet with, they always had strong and overpowering voices I shyed away. Not wanting to ask anything because I felt like I was being reprimanded. I did go to one of his seminars and he was very well spoken and understood that we were all there to learn from him. My impression of him was that he was kind and could see if you were uncomfortable, he made me feel at ease never rushed. He was always open to answering any question I had no matter how insignificant it may seem to me.rnThe morning of my surgery he showed up with a smile on his face and asked if I had any last minute questions and if I was ready, I did not have any questions and yes I was ready, saying that made me feel less nervous about the surgery. Dr. Dahl the anestheziologist was there as well and he walked me through the process and the next thing I knew I was waking up in my room. Do not remember a thing. rnAfter the surgery Dr. Villares came in to look in on me and he spoke softly yet encouragingly and stated that everything had gone well. No problems during surgery. He asked if I had any questions and I did not at that moment. My friends who waited during my surgery in the waiting room were impressed with him and said that he had a very professional yet comforting way about him when he came out to update them on the surgery. They liked him very much and that means alot when it comes from my friends because they did not like the surgeon that performed my hysterectomy. They even commented on how young he looks, he may seem young but he sure knows what he is doing. Give me a doctor/surgeon with both bedside manner and surgical competency and you cannot go wrong, which he does. He is definitely a 10 in my book. I will refer him to anyone who asks, his office staff is also great.
