Dr. Rosemurgy was a highly skilled technical surgeon. He did a great job with the actual
surgery but his "bedside manor" leaves something to be desired. In his defense however, he is very busy and probably doesn’t have the time for idle chit chat. His pre-op program was poor and his post op follow up was as well from a non medical perspective. Recently Tampa General has added a support group with physiologists and dietitians as well which I have been attending and they are very helpful. I also understand that at this time one of Dr. Rosemurgy's associates is doing the operation and he is no loner doing them. I believe his name is Dr. Moore but his office would be able to confirm or deny that information. He did a good job of informing me on the risks of the surgery but I was very prepared when I first arrived at his
office. I had researched the procedure for over a year and knew most of what he told me.

I have left what I originally wrote because it was an accurate assessment of how I felt at the time. Four years later I have come to be quite good friends with Dr. Rosemurgy. His personality and bedside manner are fine and his skills are exceptional. Perhaps my success has had some influence on how he views me but regardless I am completely satisfied with him as a surgeon and a person. Unfortunately he no longer does WLS surgery. He regrets giving it up because as he said it was one of the few surgeries that patients were happy afterwards. Most surgeries are for cancer or other problems and they usually involve bad news were as WLS left patients in better shape than they were before. His practice just had gotten too big and he had to drop something. Bariatric surgery was the only type that was small enough to drop completely so he chose it.

my first impression was great.he was direst ant listened to me at alltimes. he listed to how i failed every diet ive tried , asked me about my relationships, family ,ect. my impression of him overtime was evengreated because he was so kind and did not make me feel like i was alone because i did not have any family support going thru this difficult
desicion. the staff is always pleasent ,as busy as they are, always nice.future patients
can be assured by my reccomendation that he is a fine surgeon, tampa general is a wonderful hospital, he will give excellent before and aftercare. schedules follow up appts and if you need to talk to anyone ,problems ect...there was always a quick response afterhours. he addressedtherisks of surg and told me what he expected of me also after surg.my overall
rating is after talking to only one other
surgeon prior to finding out that dr rosemurgy did this surg so close to my home
when i met him i knew he was the one ,dont look any further. both surgical competence
andhis bedside manner , made me feel..well
loved in a way.

I immediately liked Dr. Rosemurgy! I felt that I would be treated well by him and his staff. Because of my other conditions I felt he had my best interest at heart. I felt the staff at Tampa General are the ones who didn't do him or his work justice. I always stop to say hello to him when I go for my checkups even though my Dr. of follow up is Dr. Murr. He too is very sensitive to the plight of all of the patients who are to have or have had this surgery. Although the procedure I had was the Vertical Banding, I feel it was the right surgery for me. I am happy with the results. I do not have any knowledge on the new procedure they are performing. At the time of my surgery there was not a support system in place. I attended one of the meetings of late and could not really relate as much to it as my eating habits are completely different because of the different procedure. The new procedure allows meat, I am a vegetarian. You cannot eat sugar or fats,I eat sugar without the fear of getting a reaction etc. I commend science for discovering new ways to have this surgical procedure for what ever the outcome. Dr. Rosemurgy was the best for me and I can't extend enough gratitude to him and my treatment from him and his office staff! The hospital... thats another story, Until they can be educated on the treatment of patients of morbid obesity I am afraid with the already low self esteem it will have to be tolerated until someone puts the right nursing staff on the floor to administer to these type of patients.
