I can confirm what the other reviewers state as Dr. Hawasli's technique of deflecting blame. He absolutely is a doctor who is only there to perform the surgery, take your money and kick you out the door.
When there was a leak and hospitalization, he totally denied there was a leak as soon as I was well. The official record states otherwise. And when it was obvious the procedure was not helping me, I got the same blame other reviewers mentioned. It can only be my fault; I must have cheated.
I followed the rules and it didn't work. They have no plan to help you out in any way if it isn't working for you. Don't believe their hype about 'we will never leave you alone'. They totally left me alone.

Dr. Is okay. I agree pompous. But if you want a Drs. Staff to play games with your health!, this is the place to go. Lots of shanaganans going on with his staff that Dr. Is unaware of!!! Be Careful! Was going to let the Dr. Know himself and was told by staff my appt was canceled and not to come on property.

Pompus and cares nothing about obese patients. Views all obese people as cheaters who eat ice cream all day. When explaining the pre-surgical diet that you are required to lose 10lbs on, he said avg wt loss was 8-25lbs. And that those that only lost 8 were obviously cheating. There are dozens of reasons for that variation that absolutely do not involve cheating and it was insulting and demeaning for him to say that to me. When I expressed my reservations about the gastric sleeve proceedure and stated that a friend of mine had the proceedure at his office and didn't even lose half the weight she wanted... he flat out said to me she must have been cheating and eating ice cream. Again, there can be a lot of variation in weight loss with any surgery that isn't the result of cheating. It was clear to me that he only saw me as another surgery to check off his list. He was only going to do the one thing that he does and not look at me as an individual and what my individual needs were. I would not expect any kind of support or kindness from this surgeon. He is only there to perform the proceedure, he cares nothing about the issue of obesity as a whole.

From the first time that I met with Dr. Hawasli I approached him and asked him to please help me because at the time I was in and out of the hospital with Congestive Heart Failure and he looked at me and smiled and I felt a sense of sincerity, and so much kindness and he told me he would do all that he could and he did! His office and my doctor fought to get my approval. and with Dr. Hawasli there is no rich person or no poor person you are a person whom he wants to help. My niece who recommended Dr. Hawasli to me is more on the rich side and myself well God helps take care of my needs and Dr. Hawasli treated me no different than he did my niece and I received the same type of surgery as well as compassion from his staff as my niece did there is no favoritism with Dr. Hawasli a true caring and sincere person. I think he is an excellent surgeon, doctor and just all the down to earth man! May God continue to Bless is success and his hands which he works from.

I've heard nothing but great things regarding Dr. Hawasli. My GP (Dr. Nancy Ajemian) says he is great. Seems gentle, caring and very experienced.
I wanted the Sleeve, but wasn't approved through insurance -- not a recognized procedure yet.
Getting the Lap Band. Dr. Hawasli doesn't believe in the full WLS, believes it is treating discease with discease.

When I first met Dr. Hawasli, my first impression of him was; I knew he was the one. I looked in to his eyes and saw peace, assurance and safety. And even to this day, I still feel the same. After speaking with him during one of the seminars, I knew he was the doctor for me. The office staff has been so pleasant and informative. Dr. Hawasli stressed the importance of changing my lifestyle to get healthier. I will be his patient for the next three years for after care. He informed me of the risks for having Lap Band surgery and I was also given written materials to read and study. I think that Dr. Hawasli is a very fine doctor. I would rate him high.

I chose Dr. Hawasli because of his credentials. I am acquainted with his skills having worked with him during his general surgery residency in the early 1980s. I'd moved from the area in 1989 and only recently learned that he'd become a pioneer and recognized leader in the field of laporoscopic bariatric and general surgery. I live nearly two hours from the location of his practice, but I wasn't dissuaded by the distance to place my welfare in his capable hands. Besides, despite his apparent fame, he's the same humble, kind and dedicated man I worked with more than 20 years ago.

My first impression of Dr. Hawasli, very attractive man. He is the best in his field and has been the Doctor to many members of my family. I am the only one to do weight loss surgery though. He is a very caring Doctor & is doing everything he can to help obese people lose weight. He has monthly seminars to explain all options to people & has created a support group for people who have had surgery or if people want to come get information from people who have already had weight loss surgery. I rate him has the Best in Everything....
