I really liked dr baggs and according to him I was and still would be considered the success haha I am getting a revision after five years of vomiting and being miserable. Do not get a lap band they kaiser. They told me I could always be seen and not to worry as soon as I lost my insurance I lost all support from my surgeon dr baggs and his staff. I have a slipped band and now I get to meet a new surgeon. If u plan on staying with kaiser forever good luck if not don't do it. Kaiser also doesn't do revisions, my friends who he also banded need a revision and can't get it!
So far I love my doctor. First of all I went if wanting one thing but after he gave all there pros and cons for each surgery I choose the VSG.
My surgery is schedule for june 20, 2011. My experience with his office staff was great. They all worked together to help me get all my apt done on one day so as to safe me the long drive back. They were patient, kind and understanding.
My only problem so far is reaching them by phone. It seem close to imposible; however, Dr. Baggs is exellent on returning my emails, that I really don't even bother calling any more. So far 2 thumbs up for my Dr.

I have a phobia about surgery in general. I was so scared! In fact, I told myself that if I got a bad feeling during the pre-surgery process I would just not have surgery. When I met Dr. Baggs for my pre-op I knew I could trust him and that I WOULD go ahead with the surgey.
Like others have said Dr. Baggs is professional but also funny. He is patient and kind but also very focused. He put me at ease -- not an easy thing to do!
Dr. Baggs takes his work very seriously. He seems to love what he does and does everything he can to be the best at his profession. If only all doctors were like Dr. Baggs!
The staff as a whole is good at what they do. The department runs like a well-oiled machine.
I received good care at the hospital too, even when I had some complications -- the complications had NOTHING to do with Dr. Baggs and he helped me through them with ease.
I feel lucky that he is/was my surgeon.

Due to a suggestion from a friend, I requested to be see Dr. Baggs at Kaiser in Richmond, CA. I had just met my surgeon in early May 2010 for the first time. Dr. Baggs is a very respectful, compassionate, supportive MD who completely put me at ease. He answered all questions and I felt very comfortable with him.
As I proceed through the preparation for surgery, I will add additional information.

I cannot say enough good about Dr. Baggs! My surgery (sleeve gastrectomy) was December 21, 2009. Originally, I was going to have the Roux-en-Y, but Dr. Baggs was concerned about my abdominal adhesions from prior surgeries. After discussion with him, we opted for the sleeve as a "Plan B."
Dr. Baggs is professional, caring, supportive, intelligent and seems very up-to-date about bariatric procedures. He encourages questions and patient participation. He addressed all questions about risks and all concerns my husband and I had. He has made excellent suggestions.
So far, I am finding the aftercare to be excellent. Again, all questions answered, and caring, yet highly professional AND an excellent sense of humour!
I have found I rather like the Kaiser Richmond Bariatric office and support staff, too. All are warm and supportive and very courteous to deal with.
The only possible complaint I had was when I was in the hospital at Richmond; my first roommate tended to have numerous visitors who were extremely loud. Fortunately, I did not have her for more than a day. Nursing and housekeeping staff were great, and very helpful. Noisy roomies cannot be helped.
