Alexander R. Aurora Bariatric Surgeon MD

Dr. Aurora, is a general surgeon with expertise in bariatric surgery and advanced laparoscopic procedures. He joins the Upper Chesapeake Surgical Associates practice and is a vital addition to the University of Maryland Harford Memorial Hospital Bariatric Surgery team. Dr. Aurora completed his undergraduate education in physiology at the University of Ottawa in Canada and his medical degree from the University of Lausanne, Switzerland in 2000. Dr. Aurora completed his general surgery training at Johns Hopkins Hospital and Sinai Hospital in Baltimore. In 2011, Dr. Aurora completed a fellowship in advanced minimally invasive surgery at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio. Dr. Aurora performs the laparoscopic Roux en Y gastric bypass, the vertical sleeve gastrectomy and the adjustable gastric banding.
