Adam Skidmore Bariatric Surgeon MB BS FRACS
I had my surgery on 12 Dec 2016 afterwards I was very lethargic n for a very long time but just put it down to the surgery n the fact u can't eat properly but at the end of Feb 2017 I was no better and was sick with what I thought was a bug as I was vomiting a lot, over the next 3 days I got that weak I couldn't even shower myself in the end I was taken via ambulance to hospital where I was told I had sepsis from having my sleeve done which Dr skidmore was my surgeon he had apparently knicked my spleen during the surgery n whether he knew or not I don't know but I was given a 5% chance of survival and flown by air ambulance to St George private in Sydney where l spent 6 days in intensive care and a total of 34 days in hospital away from all my family n friends I'm very lucky to be alive I had an amazing surgeon in Sydney by the name of Michael Talbot who I can't recommend highly enough whereas Adam skidmore not so much. It ended up costing more than $100,000 thank God for private health
I have only lost 18kg with my lap band which was done in Sydney. I recently moved to Melbourne and saw Dr Adam Skidmore who told me that I needed a sleeve gastrectomy. I was going to have surgery but got scared and cancelled when I found out that he had been banned from operating because of his high rate of complications! -

Adam was fantastic. He explained the procedure well, and he sent me to see his assistant surgeon too who explained it all again with showing me all the instruments they would use. He was relaxed and didn't treat me like I'd copped out of all the hard work in losing weight, by having surgery. He validated my decision and supported it as an intelligent, well-informed option for me, given my genetics history and weight-loss history.
