When I first met Dr. Warden he was very nice had all the answer for what ever question that I had. I still feel the same about him. When I went back into the hospital he was very concerned. His office staff was very pleasant.I think that people should know that he is a good doctor and that I trust him to take care of me and make the best decision for me. I like that fact that he gives you a booklet letting you know what to exept after the surgery letting you know how thing will go, and your stages of what you can eat. He was very open about some of the things that can happen during and after surgery. I would rate him a 10.
Dr. Lavin and his associates are very knowledgeable and personable. They present a seminar twice a month that presents the problems of overcoming obesity and describes the procedures they do, including the risks and life changes that must occur. The office staff were helpful in describing what was important in obtaining insurance approval. The thing I liked least was how busy everybody seemed. When I was in the hospital, I was only visited once by the surgeon. I felt they needed to coordiante the discharge instructions better with the nospital staff. Aftercare is strongly emphasized, and the aftercare is fairly structured. Dr. Lavin and his team are very competent, and have had and continue to get lots of practice.
Doctor Levin has a very structured program. You can't even make your first appointment till you go to a seminar where you learn all about the surgery. The seminar was great. He really stressed after care and went over all of the risks. I got to meet Dr. Levin and ask questions as well as talk to others who have been through surgery. I made an appointment for later that week and Maria (the nurse who handles the prescreening process) answered any additional questions I had. The staff was very nice and friendly. The girl who will be working with my ins. came in the room to meet me and answer questions which made me feel like she really cared. So overall, my first impression was really good.
Now that I've had surgery, I recommend him highly. He is a great doctor who gives people like me hope for a better life. He has helped change my life.
Liked Dr. Warden. Kinda quiet, but seems to be very intelligent. I am much less interested in bedside manner than surgical skills. His care has been excellent. Misdiagnosed stricture by radiologist, Dr. Warden caught it immediately.
havent met dr booth yet hoping to real soon.should have my first appointment in late may 2002.
met dr warden on yesterday .hes very nice ery polite he explained everything in detail looking forward to surgery.i would give him a 10. met dr. clark on may 20,2002 his very nice he explained the procedure and all the complications.had surgery on may 22 i had some complications with my heart and blood preesure but it was taken care surgery went great
7/20/02 - My post-op visit went well. I got to see Liane (who had surgery the day after I did, and meet Mary who was going in the next day) and I got to weigh in!! Dr Warden was more personable it seemed. . . or maybe I was feeling better about ME, so I was more personable and hence, HE was more personable!! Know what I mean?? You will as you get more and more "post-op!!" LOL!! His nurse, Lisa, is GREAT!!!!!!!!
6/20/01 - My first consult with Dr Clark Warden was just 5 days before my surgery. I have to say that his personality is a little "cool" - kinda "matter of fact" but his skill as a laproscopic surgeon is far more important to me. He's been doing the lap DS about a year, but he is a highly skilled LAP surgeon, doing lap surgeries for almost 12 years, so in that respect, I was in the best of hands! He was definately friendlier when he came to check in on me post-op! =) We'll see what he's like at my 6 wk post op!
5/5/01 - Well, It took a little work (some phone calls and faxes on the part of my new surgeon's staff, but overall, once I interceded, things went fast and well. I have a date!! 5/29/01!! It looks like I would be into Oct or Nov now too if I had stayed with Dr Smith. . .=( I have great things to say about Dr Booth's staff - check out my profile page, I don't wanna repost it all here! =) Haven't met the Docs yet - probably won't until pre-op day! Will let u know then.
4/21/01 - I have decided to go out of network and have the LAP DS performed by Dr Clark Warden. It will cost a little more out of pocket but 3 months head start on my new life is worth it to me!! His staff all seems very friendly and bubbly. I like them already. They will call my insurance on Monday and see about getting their name put on my approval letter and then I can be switched by next MONTH!! Yes, MAY!!! Wow, I have a lot less time to prepare now! LOL! When I meet him, I will update here again.
He was wonderful. Loved him and still do. The office staff is great. I would rate him as a 12 on a scale of 1-10. :-) He has a great bedside manner and is the best surgeon in the world.
I can't say enough good things about Dr. Lavin and his fine staff. Interestingly, a number of hospital personnel have hade the surgery so everywhere you went in the hospital, there was a cheerlead from a post-op or post-op friend! What a vote of confidendence in Dr. Lavin and the hospital to have your own nurses seek out the procedure there.
Dr. Lavin and his partners at Surgical Specialists of La have a structured monthly support group. Dr. Lavin's surgical competence and bedside manner are both good. The nurses spoke with great praise for his laparascopic surgurical skills. So I belive them!
I couldn't be more pleased with my choice. His office was extremely accommodating in helping get my surgery scheduled around my schedule and to deal with insurance problems. (Through no fault of theirs, I ended up not having coverage. My employer changed insurers Jan. 1, and we simply couldn't get it approved and done before year end, particularly with the holiday schedules).
My first impression was that he was a nice man, genuinely concerned for the well-being of obese individuals. After meeting him, I felt very comfortable, and I was ready to sign up for surgery. His office staff is wonderful. Even though I felt that I bugged them, they never acted put out or irritated. I have not had my pre-op office visit yet, so I cannot say much about aftercare, risks, etc. I will add to this sight at a later date.
