I chose Harper Hospital in Detroit, Mi to have bariatric surgery because it is a teaching hospital, it is less expensive than any others I found and it came highly recommended to me from a friend who had surgery there a year ago. (She traveled to Harper all the way from San Diego, Ca!)rn So, just recently I had a Realize Band put in by Dr. Elhorr at Harper Hospital. When I met Dr. Elhorr I immediately felt at ease and reassured. He makes excellent eye contact and has a gentle manner. He saw me again the morning after surgery in the hospital, examined my incisions, asked if i had any questions and made sure I was walking and doing my breathing exercises. After arriving home in Kansas I received a call from Dr. Elhorr to check on me. I am very impressed with him and my experience at Harper.rn

The surgeon that was originally scheduled to do my gastric band surgery had a serious emergency and I was already prepared and waiting on the surgery gurney. So his partner, Dr. Ali Elhorr, introduced himself and after a brief conversation, I gave the go ahead to proceed with surgery. His staff is very competent with medical file transfers, scheduling and what ever else was needed. Since I was 120+ miles away from Detroit, I did not visit with either Doctor prior to surgery for any counceling but had plenty of literature emailed to me by various services connected with the Doctors. Harper Hospital is part of Wayne State University which is a teaching hospital. Dr. Elhorr visited by himself once and then with interns the day after surgery. I was called by his partner a couple of days after I came home to see how I was doing. I am one week out from surgery and doing well. I think he is a competent surgeon and his bedside manner is great too. I will be going to their office for fills.

My first impression of Dr. G. was that he was a very nice man who truly wanted the best for each and every one of his patients. He still does. He even asks patients to be of one on one support to those who may need extra support. He offers a free monthly support group and he is banded himself.rnrnMy impression has changed for the better.rnrnFor the most part wonderful although there is one who tapdances on my last nerve but we all know that there is always one in the bunch so I do not let it bother me because I don't live with the person.rnrnThere is nothing that I do not like about Dr. G.rnrnFuture patients should know that they are in good hands, his bedside manner is great, and that you cannot find a better surgeon.rnrnHe strongly emphasizes aftercare and has a program in place for his patients free of charge.rnrnHe addressed the risks as minimal although possible and he gave his statistics of surgical complications which were very few and non-serious.rnrnOn a scale of 1-10 I would give Dr. G. a 10.rnrnBoth are great with Dr. G.

Dr. Gazayerli was the kindest most caring surgeon i have met! he answered all my questions (even the stupid one's) showed me photo's, gave me (and all his pt's) his personal cell phone number if you need him for anything! he is always available for his patients. his office staff is wonderful! he has started an after care program, nutritional counseling, support group meetings (required) and addresses any needs for his pt's. i highly recommend Dr g to anyone looking to have a highly skilled surgeon who cares for his pt's.

My first impression of Dr. Gazayerli was awesome he actually had the Lap Band done on himself. I do feel he should of been more informative. His office staff is nice. There really isn't many things about him that I don't like except there should of been more said about the lap band before you actually had it done to find out. I would rate him a great surgeon of this procedure overall. I feel his is both great in the bedside manner and surgical competence.
