Vanderbilt Center for Surgical Weight Loss Bariatric Center
I called his office and spoke with Becky. She was very pleasant and said that she will send me an information package. I've also been dealing with Debbie, his program coordinator and Aryssia, the surgical coordinator. His office staff is very helpful.
I went to an information seminar conducted by Dr. Carlos Carrasquilla on May 15, 2002. He is extremely knowledgable. He answered everyone's questions. Some of his post-op patients showed up at the meeting and talked to us, which all of us really appreciated. He's very easy to talk to and is concerned about the patient's welfare. I talked to him after the meeting and he listened to my concerns and answered my questions. He didn't rush me or try to brush me off in any way.
I have my first office visit scheduled for June 13, 2002.
I met with Dr. English and he is also extremely knowledgable. He is very thorough and explains everything. He also makes sure that you are in the best possible health before surgery. He is truly concerned about the patient's welfare.
Dr. English is the best doctor I have ever had he is so gentle and caring he will take his time to answer any questions. The office staff is wonderful i call when I have questions and they are happy to answer all questions. The doctors and the office are very clear about all the things you will need to do in the future and after the surgery. I give Dr. English and his staff an 11 on the scale they are the best.
My first impression of Dr. English was what a warm (not to mention handsome) man he was. I met him for the first time outside of the office on the night I was supposed to be going to the pre-op group. My surgery had already been scheduled for 6/4/01 and going to the group was a formality. Apparently, unbeknownst to me, the group had been cancelled so I, and another woman, walked over to the office and there was Dr. English (at 7 pm, mind you) just walking out of the office. He stood there for at least 20 minutes answering our questions. My impression has only gotten better, he is truly the most kind, compassionate doctor I've ever been treated by. I had every confidence in his abilities. I can't say there's a thing I don't like about Dr. English, Dr. Carrisquilla or the office staff. Everyone is kind, patient and helpful. Aftercare is a high priority for these surgeons. You must come to the office every six weeks for the first 6 months of surgery, once a month after 6 months to one year where you come in one time per year. You have blood work and meet with the doctor every visit to make sure everything is the way it should be. I would give Dr. English a 12 on a scale of 1-10!!! I think that surgical competence is more important than bedside manner, HOWEVER, this surgeon excels in both areas, which made this process amazingly easy to get through. I would recommend Dr. English with the highest confidence! I wish I could find something to say negative about my experience with WLS, but aside from my weight loss slowing down, everything has exceeded my expectations. I had lap on 6/4/01, was home by 6/6/01. I had no pain medication by the next day and I still haven't opened the pain meds I got from the drugstore. My wounds have healed without infection and the scarring seems to be minimal. I have never had a hard time getting through to my surgeons office nor have I had a problem getting an appointment with my surgeon.
My first impression was that he was very kind and understanding of what his patients go through both pre-op and post-op. I was one of his challenging surgeries due to complications caused by previous surgeries. However once I had a second surgery to fix an obstruction caused by adhesions I have been doing great. I felt that I was in good hands and was made to feel like I was his top priority. I would rate both Dr English and his office staff very highly.
My first impression of this Dr was an excellent one, he is top notch in his field, I was quite impressed not only with his credentials but with everything all his post-op patients had to say about him. His office staff is great! The ladies/girls in the office are helpful and ready to help in any way they can.
I would tell future patients that they are in good hands.
he addressed all of the risks of surgery which was a plus in my book, he doesn't hide anything. I would rate Dr.English on a scale of 1-10 1 being the best a number 1.....
I did not meet Dr.English until my pre-op surgical clearance. At that time he was rather rushed due to a family matter and so I did not feel that he took sufficient time to answer my questions.
Over time, I came to appreciate his caring manner. He was very forthright with me regarding the risks of this surgery due to my weight and was very sure to get additional pulmonary clearance so that the pulmonoligist would be familiar with my case in the event he needed to be called in post op. He even prepared me in the event he would need to leave me on a respirator and place me in ICU after surgery.
I found Dr. English to be very supportive and caring and willing to answer my questions. His office staff is terrific, from the insurance approval staff to the nurses. Whenever I had a problem or question I was either able to speak to Dr. English's nurse right then or if they were in surgery. The office always returned the call before the end of the same day.
One of the things I appreciated most about Dr. English and Dr. Carrasquilla's office was the aftercare program. Florida Medical Center has a terrific support program for post ops. We have regular monthly meetings where the surgeons come and answer any and all questions we may have about being a post op.
One of the reasons I chose Dr. English was for both his surgical competence which was exceptional, as well as his bedside manner. For me, it was important to have a surgeon who was both experienced and also able to relate well to his patients. I was very pleased to find these qualities in Dr. Wayne English. I can speak from experience that having a doctor who you cannot relate to and who cannot relate to you can be extremely frustrating. I learned how important "bedside manner" was to me when one of the other surgeons in Dr. English's office, who ended up following my case while Dr. English was away, seemed to be, in my opinion, totally inept at understanding what it was like to be post op as a morbid obese person. It drove me crazy for the brief couple days that I had to deal with this other surgeon. It also made me appreciate all the more Dr. English for his "bedside manner".
he was dr paul esposito same office as dr englsih, he was soft spoken and answered all my inital questions. which were many.our relationship has even gotten better after surgery. very accomodating when calling in.
office staff good.they have an after care program that meets once a month and you can call anytime and they have staff to call you back when busy.his competence was v ery important to me,as a nurse, but his bedside manner won me over. the hospital fla. med.center wasn't the greatest of experiences as you do need help those first two days getting up and down.i wish they would address the mangement that elective surgery pt.s need care too. having a speciaty bed and being in the room with another post op pt. and the room so small you couldn't get up and down without problems and help.
My first impression of Dr.Wayne English was that he was a very busy man. I found out, through out my time with him, that he IS a very busy man, because he takes the time to get to know his patients and really care about them. He has the best bed side manner I have ever seen in a Dr. I had a few complications, but he was there to comfort me and take care of my problems. If you put a call in to him, for whatever reason, he calls back immediately, regardless of the time of day or night. If I had to do this over again, I would go with Dr. Wayne English. His staff is excellent. Friendly, knowledgeable and caring. I have absolutely nothing negative to say about my surgeon or his staff. They have gone above and beyond the call of duty.
He has a quite disposition, is intelligent and has a good sense of humor.
He is professional and was able to answer all our questions.
The office staff was efficient and effective in securing insurance approval.
Aftercare is very important and the risks are clearly explained.
His office staff indicated that he is very healthy...
On a scale of 1-10, Dr. English is a 7 pre-operatively and I hope will be a 10 post-operatively.
