INSURANCE APPROVAL -
TAKE MATTERS INTO YOUR OWN HANDS ... IT CAN BE A LONG JOURNEY ... In my case, the 7 months delay in having the insurance approval was because of the lack of follow up from the surgeon's office. THEY ARE VERY BUSY!! It seems to me that if the approval process or the insurance company is different than what the surgeon's office are used to do every day, they simply leave the file aside.
DR.ENGLISH-
THE BEST! WHAT ELSE TO SAY?

I can not say enough good things about this program. The first person I talked to in the office was Becky, and well I have not looked back since. Becky answered ALL questions, stayed on the phone, and has guided me through THE entire process. I have enjoyed getting to know the steps of which it takes to have the surgery. I would highly recommend talking to Becky even if you do not live in the area, she has a fountain of knowledge that seems endless.

Dr. English was well... calm. That was the best feeling. I meet with him, and he stood and talked with no rush in his voice. Barbara the surgical nurse answered my HUGE list of questions with no rush and the exact same calmness.

The office staff seems to sail smoothly through everything. There has not been ONE glitch in this office so far. I see everyone has respect for eachother, and realizes that their respect and calmness with eachother plays out very well to patients. I also know a doctor is only as stong as his/her support staff, and I feel like this staff could carry the world on their shoulders. I would tell anyone and everyone to make sure that you can talk and enjoy being in the presence of the staff, because you will not be successfull otherwise.

I know you are all thinking your experience could not have been that perfect, but it really was. I do have to say you need to be on top of the hospital itself, when I went for pre op testing instead of the 3 hours it was supposed to takes I was there for 6. Just make sure, they finished and ordered all the right tests.

Dr. English is a wonderful, caring, compassionate man. All of my dealings with him were enjoyable and he explained, in depth, all of the risks and after care.

I will say that the office staff are at times difficult to work with. I had several delays due to an ulcer, and the staff appeared confused at the cancelled and rescheduled surgeries.

The hospital that I stayed at is fully equipped for the surgery and have half a floor dedicated to recovery. The chairs, beds, etc are designed for the larger patient. How nice to walk down the hallway after surgery (i was up in five hours) and have your gown fit!!!!!

I know Dr English, we've worked in the same hospital for many years. So I specifically picked him. He is very pleasant, caring, great surgeon. My impression hasn't changed. His office staff is very helpful, nice people. There are no complaints about them. What future pts. should know is that they are in great hands. Both the Dr. and the staff emphasizes aftercare a whole lot and they do have an aftercare program. We have discuss the risks and benefits at length. From 1-10, I rate him a 10.
Both surgical competence and bedside manners are great. Dr. English is a great surgeon, and he is very humble, just the sweetish guy. I haven't had the surgery yet, but I work in the er at the hospital where he works and I have never heard a complaint about him, everybody raves about him, pts. and staff alike.

Dr. English was very kind and knowledgeable.
Most of the office staff is nice/caring. It is difficult to reach the staff because you cannot leave messages after hours or on weekends. During business hours you usually dont reach a person and have to leave a message. (Of course the doctors can be called by their service any time!) He strongly believes in aftercare. I would rate him a 10 out of 10. He addressed the risks adequately. Excellent surgical competence and very caring bedside manner. I trust him with my life and always will.

Dr. English was extremely nice and his staff is excellent. I only heard great comments about Dr. English and they were all true in my case. I had no complications and I attribute this to this great surgeon.

I had my surgery performed by Dr. Wayne English in Florida and have had a very positive outcome. There wasn't a lot of "forced" follow up care, I admit, but I didn't seek it out either. I didn't throw up once, so I didn't go back for a lot of follow up. I feel very lucky to have had Dr. English perform the surgery and am sure I couldn't have had a better outcome. I have since experienced some gastritis, but got back on daily Prevacid and have been free of that for 6 months. The gastritis is probably stress and diet related anyway, but is a small price to pay to lose the weight I couldn't drop any other way. I'd highly recommend this doctor.

4/21/01 I originally was going through my journey with Dr. Marema in Ft. Lauderdale. I have since changed my mind and will be starting my journey all over. I do not feel that Dr. Marema is NOT capable - I know he is a very capable and skilled surgeon. I have chosen to change for a few reasons. 1. I want my surgery done laproscopically and Dr. Carrasquilla is the tops in that field in South Florida. (He is in the top 3 of surgeons in the country who perform Lap WLS) 2. The Hospital that he works out of is much closer to my home. And 3. he doesn't charge the $2,000 cash extra(after insurance pays) for the laproscopic proceedure OR the extra $600 for support groups, etc. 4. My PCP knew more about Dr. Carrasquilla since she had a friend who used him. 5. It turns out that Dr. C is on the list of network md's for my insurance. In addition I was not getting simple answers to simple questions that I asked via email - which Dr. Carrasquilla's office provided very quickly(within 1 day of writing to them). Well, let the games begin - all over again! I did attened Dr. Marema's educational seminar & that was awesome - it totally gave the full picture of all the risks, complications, pros and cons to gastric bypass surgery. I am glad that I did that. Primarily because sometimes we just choose 1 doctor and never investigate another. 7/20/01 I just got my surgery date and it will be with Dr. Carisquilla's partner Dr. Wayne English on September 7. I will meet him soon...I know I will be in very capable hands! I can't wait!

8/23/01 Dr. English is AMAZING!

5/18/2004 Thoughout my journey the entire office has been amazing. Dr. Carisquilla, Dr. English & Dr. Esposito have been their patients' biggest cheerleaders. They have been supportive throughtout the journey. The office staff is amazing. If it wasn't for Becky and Jennifer it just wouldn't be complete. They have become more than just the staff, they have become friends.
