Dr Watkins is a wonderful compassionate surgeon with an excellent staff.
He is very busy and has a nurse practitioner do most of the follow up and fills.
As I had no complications, there were only 4 times that I have driven over to Kirkland to have adjustments to my band.
They have monthly support meetings but because I live too far away, I was never able to take advantage of that. I understand they are very good.
Anyone that lives remotely close to the Seattle, Washington area should consider the benefits of having surgery and after care done locally and to consider Dr Watkins.
I rate him and his office a 10 and highly recommend him to everyone.
My first impression of Dr. Watkins was that he is a very caring and genuinely nice person. He hasn't changed since I have met him. The office staff at NWWLS is wonderful. Everyone is very helpful and nice, and they are all very supportive. It's like being with a group of friends. There isn't anything that I didn't like about Dr. Watkins or the staff. Both Dr. Watkins and Dr. Montgomery are very understanding and they try to make everyone feel as comfortable as possible while discussing as touchy of a subject that obesity is. The program is very structured and so is the aftercare. The only way to be unsuccessful is if you absolutely ignore the directions that are given to you by the doctors and the staff. I would rate Dr. Watkins at a 9.5 out of ten. His and Dr. Montgomery's surgical competence and bedside manner are both great.
Dr Watkins and his staff were all very helpful through the entire process,,from the first questions to the continued post op follow up and fills.. I wouldn't think twice about putting my life in his hands in any operating room.... the aftercare help is always available when ever i choose to use it... i'm afraid i can't balance this critic with negative info,,,i was completely satisfied with everything about these people...i guess i could say i'm not too crazy about the monthly support groups..but mostly because it a 2 hour drive and most of the people are women who i have little in common with and none of whom i want to discuss some of the issues with weight and weight loss
Dr watkins and his office staff and surgical staff were outstanding in any way you could ask. everyone in the office was extremely helpful, gave me advise and answered my questions honestly, i feel. the doc was willing to spend as much time with me as i needed to feel comfortable and spent time with me a several occassions before my surgery. his surgical staff made me comfortable and secure... the expirence has been a very good one so far and i expect them to be as attentive during my the follow up as well.I hold Dr Watkins and all his staff in the highest regard and recommend him to anyone without hesitation.
I STARTED LOOKING INTO THE LAP BAND ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO, I WAS IMPRESSED BY THE OVERALL HEALTHIER WAY THE LAP BAND IS.
I LIKED THE IDEA OF LOSING WEIGHT SLOWER AND MY STOMACH WOULD STILL BE INTACT.
AFTER LOTS OF RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET AND PATIENT TESTIMONIALS I DECIDED TO TAKE MY INTREST ONE STEP FUTHUR AND FIND A SURGEON.
I CHOSE DR. MONTGOMERY AND DR. WATKINS IN KIRKLAND, WASH.AND CALLED THEIR OFFICE WITH A FEW QUESTIONS, AFTER TALKING TO SARAH THEIR RECEPTIONIST I WAS HOOKED.SHE WAS SO HELPFUL AND INFORMATIVE I DECIDED TO MAKE A APPOINTMENT FOR A CONSULTATION.
I HAD MY CONSULTATION ON AUGUST 7TH.I WAS VERY IMPRESSED.I MET WITH JESSIE THE NURSE PRACTIONER, SHE SPENT OVER A HOUR WITH ME GOING OVER EVERYTHING FROM PRE-OP, POST-OP, NUTRTION, TO SUPPORT GROUPS, WHICH THEY STRONGLY RECOMEND,AFTERCARE IS A VERY IMPORTANT PART OF THIS SURGERY AND THEY STAY VERY MUCH INVOLVED IN THE AFTERCARE OF THE PATIENT.
I THEN MET WITH TRISH THEIR CLINICAL COORDINATOR AND GOT MY PRE-OP AND SURGERY SCHEDULED,I AM SCEDULED FOR SURGERY SEPT. 15, AS A OUTPATIENT.
THEN IT WAS TIME TO MEET DR. WATKINS, HE WAS GREAT.I SPENT OVER A HOUR WITH HIM AS WELL, GOING OVER SURGERY ,RISKS ,STATISTICS, AND RECOVERY.
HE VERY FULLY AND PROFESSIONALLY AWNSERED ALL MY QUESTIONS AND EASED ANY DOUBT THAT I MAY HAVE HAD.
SOME OF THE GIRLS IN THE OFFICE HAVE ALSO BEEN BANDED ,SO IT WAS GREAT TO BE ABLE TO TALK TO EACH OF THEM AND GET SO MUCH FEEDBACK.I WALKED OUT OF THERE FEELING GREAT, EVERYBODY TRULY CARED AND WERE PROFESSIONAL, AND CONFIDENT.
Drs. Watkins and Montgomery are great! Very good bedside manner, extremely prompt in replying to any questions, either by phone or e-mail.
Office staff is very supportive of insurance details and appointments.
I haven't attended a support group yet, but look forward to in the future. Jessie, the support coordinator has a lot of education and experience in obesity health issues.
A great place to have your surgery. The hospital and staff are very good, some are banded themselves.
No problems at all with my surgery and I was back to work the day after discharge.
As of today, my surgey date is for March 28th 2003. I have met with Dr. Watkins once so far. I'm scheduled to see him March 21st for questions and answers(risks). The office staff are very very helpfull. I couldn't have done any of this without the help from Trish. What a god send. She is on the ball with you and your pre-ops all the way. The only problem I have experienced is coming up with the physicians fee up front(7,500.00).Luckily they take credit cards. I will post more once I have had my appointment.
