Tony Maalouf, M.D. Bariatrics Bariatric Center

I love Dr Maalouf. He did my rny in 1998. I was going thru a divorce at that time and he was so caring he was concerned that my weight loss was a cause of the divorce. It was't, but it did give me courage. I moved away from PA in 2002 so I have not seen him since.
As I said, he is a great Dr and a wonderful man Would highly reccomend him.
I love Dr Maalouf. I had my rny in 1998. 1 of his firsts.

Dr Maalouf is not only a great surgeon he is a great guy! I could not have asked for someone better. He was very kind and compassionate. He lifeted my spirits with each visit to my room.

Dr Maalouf is an excellent surgeon. His office staff is very knowledgeable and helpful when ever you have a question. I would recommend him to anyone that wants a smaller hospital than one in the bigger cities. The only thing that I didn't like about my experience was when I was readmitted back to the hospital for dehydration and the hospital had no clue what I was allowed to eat and what the different phases of diet were. That should have been known before I was placed on the surgical floor.

Dr. Tony Maalouf is very soft spoken and informative. My impression of him post op has not changed if nothing else has gotten better. The office staff at Dr. Maalouf office is professional and very helpful. I have nothing about Dr. Maalouf that I haven't liked. If he wants a test done before surgery have it ready or you will wait. He is very thorough. I am going to my first aftercare appointment tomorrow. I assume I will find out his aftercare program at my appointment. Like I said before, Dr. Maalouf is very thorough and he went over all the risks their are in having gastric bypass surgery. He is and excellent surgeon and his bedside manner is great.

I was working with another doctor at first (Who was extremely busy and took way to long to get me through). I was having a heart catherization when the nurses asked me if Dr. Maalouf was my doctor. When I left the hospital that day, I checked into Dr. Maalouf and made an appt. with him. I had already had all my testing done so it did not take long to get things rolling. When I first met him, he was a little hard to understand but I really liked him. He was sure to address the risks of this surgery. He also made sure that I understood what all I was getting into. As time has gone on, I understand him completely now and am soooo glad I switched to him. Dr. Maalouf and his office staff are wonderful. He found an umbilical hernia and repaired it. I was not expecting this and ended up calling at least once a week for the first 3-4 weeks. They never once acted like I was being a pest. Every time I called, Dr. Maalouf had me come in, looked at my belly button and assured me that it was o.k. He is very willing to answer any questions before and after surgery. He refers you to the nutritionist as to when you can move to the next phase in eating. (Before you leave the hospital she meets with you and gives you instructions for each phase and a number where you can reach her.) Dr. Maalouf and Carol Landis (nutritionist) have a support group once a month. They welcome anyone. I have a friend who had the surgery in Pittsburgh and she is welcome to come also. Dr. Maalouf's surgical competence and bedside manner are both wonderful. I would rate Dr. Maalouf as an A1 doctor. I would highly reccommend him.

Dr.Maalouf has a very good bedside manner. He is so comfortable to talk with. My husband had a few questions as did I, and he explained everything so well.My husband feels so much better now after have met him and spoke with him.He is excited as I am now. We were with him quite a while and I never felt as though he was rushing us to get out of there. He spent a very long time explaining the risks, the procedure, the aftercare....everyhting. I am just so grateful to him. I feel he is giving me my life back.
I think the main thing is that I am really comfortable around him. I am glad he is my surgeon.

Dr. Maalouf was great at explaining about the surgery and all pre-op tests. It was great to be well informed about every thing that is required. His office has been great at answering all my questions. I feel very comfortable with Dr Maalouf preforming my surgery. I have not had surgery yet(April 9, 2003), but have already refered a freind to his office since I was impressed with his care.

The first thing I noticed about Dr. Maalouf was his calm comfortable way he carries himself and related to me. He was serious about his requirements yet would give a smile of encouragement now and again. The only change in my impression of the doctor over this time is that I have gained more respect for him and realize he is an expert in his field. The staff is great and knows everything and takes care of everything for me. What angels. You might be interested to know that he is starting to do laps at the end of this month is what I would let others know new about Dr. Maalouf. He really emphasized the aftercare with the diet, nutrition, and exercise, but also with keeping up with the medical aspects such as colonoscopy and mammograms. I can't answer about the aftercare program yet, be he has told me what to expect as far as follow-ups and now they are forming a support group in the area. He went over the risks of the surgery at the first visit and then again when we set the date. Well, so far I would rate him very high and I am sure that after I will keep that standard as he holds himself to his professional standard. This doctor is not at all condescending, he gives you the facts that you can clearly understand and invites questions.

I have my first appointment with Dr. Maalouf on Feb. 15th. I am so anxious I can't wait to get things started.
I have seen Doctor Maalouf various times since my first posting and I must say that he is everything I have been told. He is very nice, friendly, informative, attentive, and makes things easy to understand. The staff has been very nice as well. Sherri took care of everything for me and explained step by step what to do through out my testing. I never had to deal with the insurance company, they took care of it for me. It only took 2 weeks for my approval and my surgery is in one week.
