I would give Dr. White and his team more stars if they were available. Two years ago Dr. White did the surgery that saved my life after a failed and eroded lap band, bowel obstruction, and resulting massive infection. I'm not sure that I would be alive today had it been another surgeon. Two weeks ago he performed a very complicated surgery removing adhesions and completing a Roux-en-Y. After two days I was out of the hospital and feeling great! He is a fabulous surgeon and we're luckey to have him in Toledo. His whole staff, Kathy, Shannon, Kristi, and the rest, are beyond caring and competent. Thank you all for giving me the chance to get my health back!

After undergoing a year of tests, counseloring, nutritionist meetings to prepare for surgery this doctor and his associate Dr. Parodi refused to do surgery because I had not quit smoking and because I had had a gastroplasty in 1983 that had failed. I was prepared to quit smoking for the time period set forth in their manual but the doctor refused to even see me. I was totally upfront about my previous surgeries and the doctor even performed tests to see what had happened to my staple line. He gave me a misdiagnosis by telling me that I had a hole in my stomach and prescribed a very expensive regiment of medication only to call a few days later and say oops it was only your staple line has failed. You don't have to take the medication anymore. So I proceeded through the process, got approval from my insurance company, only to have both of these doctors refuse to do the surgery because I had not quit smoking yet. No options were given. I was not given the opportunity to quit and come back after I was smoke free for x number of months, they simply refused. My advise to anyone reading this, run do not walk to another bariatric surgeon. These guys are unreasonable and do not follow their own manual. I wonder how many other people they have done this to. They could be scamming the insurance companies but getting paid for all the prep work and then refuse to actually do the surgery.
Very Disappointed

Hello Dr. White, Hope all is going well for you. Love the new T.V. commercial. Just reading about what I should put in my reveiw. I really don't have anything negative to say about Dr. White and his staff. When I went through the surgery , the process to have it done, and the after care was kind of a learning experiance for all of us. I know a few more people that have used him for thier surgeries and have only heard good things about the information given and about the care him and his staff provide. I can't say enough good things without sounding and getting mushy. IF there is one thing that I would say negative about him is that he needs to speak louder so you can hear him when he makes funny comments.
by the way I had surgery on January 21, 2001 I weighed 420lbs (I'm 5'6). I'm still 5'6 but weigh 155lbs. Thank you!!

Dr. White is very quiet yes. He answered all my questions, he told me all about the surgery, and more. He was polite, and respectful. He was very kind and reassuring that He could help me with this and we would schedule a date. The office is not too busy, big chairs in the waiting room for larger clients. Easy to access office, and everyone I have delt with is very polite. I got my wt taken, vitals, picture take on first visit. I got to speak with the nurse EXTENSIVELY about any question concern, after care we talked about vitamins. We went over papers of what to do before surgery and after. I liked the office I got a great feeling and I felt that from the moment I walked in that they knew what they were doing in THIS office and I never have doubted it. Great office So glad I found Dr. White!

My first impression of Dr. Patrick White was that he was a serious yet caring doctor. Every meeting I had with Dr. White before, during, and after surgery just cemented my initial impression of him. Dr. White's staff is very friendly and willing to help. Cathie, Dr. White's assistant, is extremely helpful. She made me feel like she was a "friend" who I could call about any issues or complications I was having. She basically is there to hold your hand through every step of the process.

With any surgery, there are risks. Dr. White addressed the possible risks with a completely caring demeanor. I felt like he was honest with me, and he even gave a chuckle about a good "side effect" of surgery -- the fact that I would be "very fertile" according to him.

On my day of surgery, I was quite nervous. I felt at peace about my decision to have gastric bypass, but the time I had to wait before surgery made me feel uneasy. The patient before me had complications that were beyond Dr. White's control, which caused my surgery time to be pushed back. As soon as I saw Dr. White, I once again felt at peace, and I instantly knew this was all meant to be. That should say something about his demeanor. He makes you feel completely comfortable.

The aftercare program that Dr. White follows is very structured. The program requires blood work to be drawn and appointments after one week, four weeks, eight weeks, then three, six, nine, and twelve months. These appointments are crucial and critical to the health and weight loss process of the individual. Also, the support meetings are helpful to the emotional well being of anyone who has had gastric bypass or is dealing with someone who has had the surgery.

Overall, I would recommend Dr. Patrick White 100% to any individual in the Toledo area looking to have gastric bypass. I cannot express into words how amazing this entire process has been, and I could have never had such a pleasant experience with any other doctor than Dr. White!

I think Dr White is really cool, he really does care about his patients first and foremost. The nurses were shocked that he shared a personal story with me! (thats because Im so special )!! I would rate him an A!

I was pleased with Dr White. I felt comfortable talking to him. He seems like a man of few words but what he says is important. He is a great surgeon. I am 4 days post-op and I feel like a million dollars. I asked him the day after surgery if he actually did the surgery because I felt so good. I've had a different experience with his staff because his bariatric nurse was on a medical leave so it is hard to evaluate this portion. He has a support group once a month for post-op patients. He does follow-up with you frequently after the surgery. He was upfront about all the risks. In my opinion, Dr White is a top notch surgeon. He is honest and caring. I would not hesitate for him to operate on me again if the need ever arises.

i will update this as time goes along since i'm just now starting to work with dr. white. but so far, he's been the most realistic surgeon i've dealt with and the most down-to-earth. he has a very calm, seemingly unflappable demeanor with a very dry sense of humor...that cracks me up! both the calm demeanor and the sense of humor are important to me. his staff, so far, have been EXCELLENT and incredibly helpful and friendly. in addition, he comes highly recommended by some people i know and whose input i would consider trustworthy.

My first impression of Dr. White was definitely that he was very quiet. He is not one, in my experience, to make this journey his idea. I felt that it had to be my idea and my desire completely. He in no way pressured me into surgery and he allowed me to ask a zillion and one questions, even personal questions about his plans to retire and what I would do if he were no longer able to follow me. He is a great listener.rnrnI see Dr. White's nurse, Cathy, more often than I see Dr. White himself. Cathy has to be one of the most caring nurses I have ever met. She is completely down to earth and easy to talk to. I have established a comfortable relationship with her in that I can call and ask questions at any time and not feel like I am putting her out or wasting her time. She is a great nurse and is very knowledgeable about bariatric surgery. I am very thankful for her!rnrnI cannot think of anything that I least like about my physician. At least not at this point. He came to the hospital after surgery and I was surprised at how little time he spent with me, but other than that I cannot think of anything!
