Nicholson Clinic for Weight Loss Surgery Bariatric Center
When I first met Dr. Nicholson, I was very nervous and he set me at ease right away. He has a very calm and positive nature about him and is also comedic at times. He was also very honest in his siminar, explaining the good the bad and sometimes uglies of WLS. I would have to say that the only thing some may find \"offensive\" about him is his blunt honesty, which I tend to appriciate. Every time I saw him I became more aware of the obvious way he treats all of his patients. I never felt like he was belittling me, or degrading me because of my weight I only felt that not only he but his entire staff were there to encourage and support me. He has support groups and the offer an excercise program at their WLSC guided by Physical Therapists so you can learn how to work out the safe way. I would highly recommend Dr.Nicholson he also preformed a hernia repair for me. He is very competent in both surgical skill and fantastic bedside manner.

'Just to let everybody know Dr. Nicholson is no longer downtown. He now practices out of Baylor in Plano. His phone number is 972-494-3100.rnrnOh my gosh! This guy is great. I had to go to his seminar and I was dreading it as this would be my third one in as many months and I figured I could not learn anything new. I can't say that I learned anything that I did not already know from doing the research that I had done but I could tell there were others in the room that were not quite as prepared and that they learned a lot. The hospital is brand new maybe open 6 months now and he has been doing this for 5 years since he finished his residency. I have only spoken to his office staff by phone but they have been great. He is there for all of your aftercare and he really listens. I took in 5 pages of questions and he stayed about 10 minutes after everyone left and went through they with me. I am doing the RNY but if you are doing the band
He is very nice and cares about his patients. The office staff are the best people I have ever met. There is nothing I did not like about him. You should know that he is very attractive and extremely tall. I have to see the nurse and doctor alot to make sure I am doing ok. I can call him any time day or night and he will respond in a caring manner. There is a nutrition class before surgery and another at 6 months out and maybe one at one year out, I'm not sure. I think he is a great doctor and would recomend him to anyone a hundred times over. His surgical competence is better but his bedside manner was not bad either.
Dr. Nicholson is a very personable doctor and seems very interested in all that I had to ask him. He and his surgical and business staff all seemed to care about my thoughts and must have noted the anxiety that I had. I am still a little anxious in that I haven't met with the nutrition class yet or talked to the Psychiatrist. I was very impressed with the knowledge of Dr. Nicholson of some of my past surgeons. His dad did surgery with one of my ex-surgeons. He seemed to know a lot about how they did things and noted that he would want Dr.McCarty to assist him on my surgery, because of this fact. The staff made me very comfortable while I was there and made it easy for me to try and get ready for my up coming surgery.
I love Dr. Nicholson. He is warm, concerned and great looking! The WLS program at Baylor is fantastic. No worries about anything. They take care of me and make sure I have all that is necessary as far as insurance and information. I wouldn't trade their program for anything.
Dr. Nicholson was very thorough in explaining the surgery to me - Lap RNY - and answered all of my questions. I was not only confident in him, but also the surgical nurses who assisted him (they both had RNY surgery recently). My only disappointment was that I had not been informed of the lovenox shots to my stomach that had to occur for 10 days after the surgery.
Dr Nicholson is a great doctor with a very friendly staff that is alway thier to help.My impression of the doc and staff has not changed through out this time before and, after surgery.Dr Nicholson has alway been very helpful.I don't know of any aftercare program. In all our meeting the doc addressed all the risk.I would rate the doctor a ten.As for his bedside manner he checked on me both days i was at Baylor also, he is great doctor overall i would tell any he the best.
I think he was very nice, he didn't mind answering questions. It was as if I was his only appointment for the day, or at least he made me feel that way! His office staff was absolutly WONDERFUL! The main thing I can can stress about Dr. Nicholson is that he WON'T do the surgery if you are still smoking! Trust me! Mine had to be postponed.
