Surgical Weight Loss Solutions at Tempe St. Luke's Bariatric Center

Dr. Sprunger performed my surgery on November 18, 2016. I found him to be completely capable in what he was doing. I had zero complications from my surgery and as of today, January 11, 2016, I have lost about 38 pounds since the day I came home from the hospital. I've read a lot of reviews which say his bedside manner is terrible, but I found it to be the exact opposite. He came to see me every day that I was in the hospital and kindly answered any questions I had. I've had to call his office with questions since my surgery and I always get a prompt response. I feel Dr. Sprunger gave me back my life and would highly recommend him.

My experience began with strife. Prior to all of this as a requirement I had to see my doctor for 6 months and document a diet that I was on, I had to see a nutritionist, I had to see a psychiatrist for a psychological evaluation, and I had quit smoking.I did a lot of research and decided that if possible I would much rather have the lap band than gastric bypass. It was decided that I was eligible for either however, they strongly suggested gastric bypass as the results were much more immediate. I respectfully declined. The day of the surgery I'm reading over all the papers that I'm signing and realize they had me signed up for gastric bypass and not a lapband. The surgery was rescheduled and everything went fine until Doctor Sprunger decided to leave and start his own practice. I had only had two fills in my lap band in 4 months when Doctor Sprunger left to start his own practice. Doctor Schlesinger took over and refused to fill the lap band stating that I was not losing weight because of my diet,(he thought I was lying to him about what I was eating even though I went through all that training prior to surgery). 3 more months went by making a total of 6 months with only 3 cc's of fluid. I would also like to mention that the front desk staff were very kind in person but on the phone were real jerks. It's my opinion that Doctor Schlesinger is padding the bill trying to recuperate money for me not getting the gastric bypass. My mother had the same procedure at another facility and her experience was much different she got a fill a month until she reached her target goal. In 6 months I've only lost 40 pounds and have now completely quit losing. I'm extremely disappointed and would not recommend surgical weight loss solutions to anybody ever. They say they have a 99% success rate on gastric bypass but they do not tell you that years later you may die due to gastric bypass. Yes, the surgery is a success but people are dying years later due to gastric bypass related issues but not due to the surgery itself and therefore does not reflect on surgical weight loss solutions.

Dr. Sprunger cares deeply about his patients. And his staff is the same way.

I had a rouen y on january 21st 2010, It was a surgery that was desperately needed and a very easy choice for me. I was 316 pounds the day I went in for surgery, now I am 218lbs. Dr. Kurt sprunger did my surgery, and would have to say the best doctor I have ever met. I had my bypass thru scottsdale Healthcare, which I now dont recommend, a week after my surgery Dr. Sprunger had left that practice, I have searched every where for him for 3 and half months to follow up on complications from surgery. The surgeon that was still at scottsdale healthcare refused to help in any kind of way, which would be Dr. Blackstone. I resorted to my primary care doctor, who was wonderful and have help me thru all my troubles. Good news is that I finally saw Dr. Sprunger today, I was very excited about my appoinment, it was really a sigh of releif to see his face again and the big hug that followed, he has a wonderful bedside manner. He is the reason why Dr's get into medicine and the reason why I myself have chosen to go in the medical field. People like Dr. Sprunger really make the medical proffesion a wonderful thing. If anyone is curious Dr. Sprunger is now affiliated with Tempe St. Lukes off of mill ave, so if you have been looking for him he is there and an excellent surgeon.In my opinion I would highly recommend him to anyone who seeking some type of bariatric surgery

Dr. Sprunger is such a great person inside and out. I got a great feeling that he truly did care both prior and post surgery. He even called me to make sure I was ok weeks later. The office staff is also amazing and always let me know that they care about my progress.

I have nothing but negative things to say! rnrnI have the worse experience with Dr, Sprunger and his associate. rnrnThey just do not seemed concerned about my health. On a good side they dress nice.

I HAD MY GASTRIC BYPASS ON 09/10/09. I AM SO GLAD I MET DR. SPRUNGER. HE IS THE ABSOLUTE NICEST MAN. GREAT BEDSIDE MANNER. HE IS SO SWEET AND TRULY CARES ABOUT HIS PATIENTS. JUST LOVE HIM!

He was amazing before and after surgery. His bedside manner is impressive and I would refer anyone to him that is looking for a surgeon in the area. The program through Scottsdale Bariatric is just teriffic also!

Dr. Sprunger is great. Professional, understanding, and attentive. The program at Scottsdale Bariatric Center is very comprehensive.

Dr. Sprunger is the man! He's totally awesome, completely laid back, and completely on your side from the moment he meets you. He has a passion for bariatrics and you can feel that as you chat with him. The office staff is great at Scottsdale Bariatric Center too! He and his staff are fantastic! Everyone who works over there is incredible! Strongly reccomend him for anyone in the Phoenix area, or anyone willing to travel here. He make me feel important and I knew he valued me as a person, not just another \"notch on his belt\" so to speak. He cared about me and my progress from first meeting, all the way through surgery and then even after I've come home. He knows what he's doing, he's very good at it, and he loves what he does. Can you ask for anything more?! I'd rate him an A+, 10 out of 10, 5 Stars, etc! He's AMAZING!!!
