Surgical Association of Mobile, P.A. Bariatric Center
My first impression of Dr. Weinstein was that he was very to-the-point, which I aprpeciated. He didn't sugarcoat anything for me. I had originally seen him approximately 5 years ago for the RNY, but was "talked out of" the surgery by my family. When I saw him again in April of this year, he still remembered me, and exactly what had brought me to his office the first time (and which doctor referred me - stuff that is not in my chart).
His staff is absolutely wonderful - very caring and compassionate. It helps that he has these angels working with him - especially for those of us that are extremely anxious about the surgery.
Not only was Dr. Weinstein very knowledgeable about the surgery (as well he should be!) he answered any and all of my questions, no matter how trivial they might be. He carefully explained all the risks, complications, and benefits the surgery has, so I felt like I was making a truly informed decision. And he REALLY emphasizes after-care, and how to learn to re-train yourself how to eat with the new "pouch". I'm very impressed.
Overall, I'd HIGHLY recommend Dr. Weinstein to anyone that wants to have the RNY done.
Dr. Weinstein has got to be the best dang doctor I have ever seen. His bed side manner is A+++++, and his knowledge about gastric bypass and health in general is remarkable. I could not have asked for a better person to be associated with. Anybody that is thinking about the surgery, should really consider finding someone like him. He talks you through the whole procedure, the risks, the pros, the cons, what to expect after surgery. He is just there for you all the way. There are honestly no words that can show my gratitude for this doctor. All I can say is God really blessed him with a very special gift and talent!!!
I had heard good things about Dr. Weinstein prior to my consultation visit with him. He was very helpful. My mother is very worried about me having this type of surgery. I took her to my visit with me and Dr. Weinstein was able to reassure her about some of her concerns. I had researched different weight loss surgeries and he was able to answer any questions I had about my options. He went ahead and gave me literature on the aftercare program he advises. When you have a good surgeon with good doctor-patient relationships, the outcome is sure to be great. The only bad thing is his scales in the office only go up to 350 lbs., so I had to walk miles and miles( it seemed like anyway) to the scales in the hospital.
Dr. Hannon is a VERY kind, caring and encouraging person who will give you all the time you need while you are with him. From the first time I went to him, two years ago when I was denied coverage by my husband's insurance till now (six mos post op) he is still the same caring man I first saw. Dr. Hannon's competence as well as his bedside manner are GREAT!! His nurse is also very nice.
Dr. Hannon told me ALL the negatives involved with the surgery so that I knew that this is a lifelong commitment once you have it. It is not just something you do to make you loose weight; it is a TOOL to help you loose weight. He also says (at EVERY visit)"Water, water, water; walk, walk, walk. Nobody has had to return to the hospital for not eating but have had to return for not drinking".
The only thing remotely negative that I have to say is that when you call and when you go in, the people in the front office are not as personable as I think they should be.
He also came highly reccommended to me by a friend in the medical community.
I was very nervous the first time I met Dr. Weinstein but just hearing him speak with his much wisdom about the surgery reassured me I will be in good hands. I didn't even have to ask questions because he went over everything that I was going to ask him. The office staff was very helpful but not as friendly as I had suspected they would be. I will express more as I get further into the process of weight loss surgery. I've only had my first consultation so these are my first impressions. These are my views and mine only.
This visit was to set up my surgery after my approval from the insurance. After my second visit to Dr. Weinstein's office I felt like I was at home. The Doctor and his staff were very caring and considerate of my needs. I didn't feel rushed at all in his office. Dr. Weistein went over the procedure again with me to make sure I understood everything about the surgery. I am confident that I am in very good hands, His and the Lord's. I thank God for surgeons like him.
I can't say enough good things about Dr. Weinstein. He is a very caring and professional Doctor. I admire him for his honesty when explaining the surgery. His staff is wonderful and courteous. I would like to see a better booklet distributed to the patient of what you can eat after you become a Post-Op. I rate Dr. Weinstein a 9 because no one is perfect except Jesus.
I had my first consultation with Dr. Lane
yesterday. I had already heard a little
bit about him from a friend I met via this
website, so I somewhat knew what to expect.
He is such a nice person. I was really scared
about the visit and he put me at ease
right away. He was very open to questions, so
if you are planning to see him, go ahead
and make a list. He was also very frank
about possible complications. He described
the procedure, diet, after aftercare in
detail. It was refreshing to talke with
a doctor that didn't talk down to you or
make you feel bad about yourself. He stressed
that this procedure should be something you
do, only after you have tried everything else.
He made it clear that this was something that
I needed to be committed to and that I should
not look at it as cure-all, but a tool to
help me along in my journey. He did a brief
exam (listened to my heart and lungs and
checked my belly). I never felt uncomfortable
during the entire visit with him. He is great.
I cannot imagine a better doctor for this
type of procedure or any other. He was
great!
1st impression of Dr. Hannon was that he was a very busy man. The second time I met him, he was more reassuring, which I greatly appreciated. The office staff was helpful, but not too friendly.
Aftercare has not been really stressed. I was given an aftercare eating rule sheet.
I would rate him a 6 in bedside manners, but I've heard nothing but good about his surgical competence.
My first impression of Dr. Hannon was standard...meaning, he was just like every other doctor I had seen. He didn't get to really talk to me because he had an emergency, so I went ahead and filled out my insurance paperwork. I am not putting Dr. Hannon down, but I feel like I was "thrown to the wolves". I guess I should have asked more questions about nutrition. After my surgery, before I went home, the dietician talked to me for about 10 minutes. I still have trouble "finding" things to eat.
His office staff is very helpful. I've called them twice to asked several questions and got results. Future patients of Dr. Hannon's should be very persistent in asking questions...take a family memeber or friend with you so you won't miss anything. My mother and sister went with me and I thank God they did. It eased their nerves...and mine, too.
Dr. Hannon does emphasize !NO SUGAR WHATSOEVER! Many people can eat sugar after their surgery and it doesn't make them sick..
it makes me horribly sick...which I guess is a blessing. All in all, I am satisfied with Dr. Hannon and his team. He does need to work on his bedside manner and the anesthesiologist does, too...he called me by the wrong name while trying to wake me up right after surgery.
Dr. Lane has been very helpful and informative. I would recommend him to anyone. He has really calmed my fears. But he will tell you there are risks.
My first impression of Dr. Ringold was he was a very nice and patient man. My opinion still hasn't changed. He took all the time needed to explain the risks and positive aspects of this surgery. He went through the risks thoroughly. He wanted me to understand what to expect with no surprises or regrets. And even though I live a couple of hours from Mobile he wouldn't stray from his normal pre-op tests and procedures.
I don't think there was anything I disliked about him.
His office staff was friendly, but I misunderstood about getting my records together for the insurance deremination letter. I thought his office would send for my medical records from my primary physician, instead of me being responsible for that. This little miscommunication delayed the whole process about a month longer than necessary. I like Melissa the best. I felt very comfortable asking her anything that needed answering after my visit.
I was given an aftercare program on my second visit so I knew ahead.
