My first impression of him was very quiet, but seems to know what he is doing.rnrnDidn't much.rnrnHis staff is wonderful, they do everything under the sun to make you comfortable.rnrnNothing.rnrnDon't expect him to talk a whole lot...he gets to the point or gives you the facts and that is it, but he is great.rnrnGives you rules, follow or find another dr.rnrnYes.rnrnGave all the facts to the surgery.rnrnI would give him a 110% fabulous dr.rnrnSurgical Competence....not everybody can be friendly all the time.

quite, knowledgeable, straight to the point. Office staff GREAT. Sandra Jones is very caring. Aftercare is very important always expressing if there is a problem to call. Everything was Great in Park Rapids, MN.

He's a very quiet man, soft-spoken but yet speaks VERY fast. He had no problem answering all my questions, in fact most of them were answered before I even had to ask. He really knows his stuff! His PA Sandy Jones is wonderful as well. There are also several staff members who have personally had this procedure and are more than willing to help answer any questions. I have to say this was the best medical situation I've ever found myself in. I HIGHLY recommend this dr. and this hospital, my experience was amazing.rn

Dr. Smith and his team are wonderful. I couldn't have asked for a better team. Yes Dr. Smith is quiet, but he is very knowledgable along with his staff. My experience from the very first phone call to now (4 months post op) has been wonderful. You can expect the best when working with Dr. Smith and his team! You can call 24/7 and someone will be there to answer you questions, I dont believe you could ask for anything more.rnrnThank you Dr. Smith for giving me my life back!

Speaks very softly and quickly gets right to the point. Has a kind of standoffish bedside manner but lots of surgical competence. I'll take competence over a sweet talker any day. Also works closely with his NP who does most of the follow up care after you leave the hospital and she is great. Overall 10/10

Dr. Smith is a soft spoken person who is concise in his explanations, and does not waste words.
The gastric team are knowledgeable and and work well together. The entire unit appears to have a real pride in their work.
One of the things that my wife noted and that I was surprised with was how quiet it was in the hospital, Their were few pages over the hospital intercom, and staff was very respectful of privacy.
Having worked in a hospital setting I was very impressed with the quality of care and attention to detail.
There is a structured aftercare program, and participation is encouraged.
IN the initial orientation, a very through discussion was provided regarding risks that I would be facing, again prior to the surgery this material was again reviewed with me.
On a scale of 1 - 10 I would rate the program 8.5
I felt that both surgical competence and bedside manner were both great, although I only have a fleeting memory of the OR.
The care when brought back to my room was as good as care I have had in Metropolitan hospitals, and there was a friendliness which sometime is lost in larger markets.
One minor thing is that the remote control for the TV works in only one direction and does not tell you what station you are watching. And I did not discover until discharge that there was a card in the nightstand that identified the various stations. (No bigee)

I had heard from a friend who had her surgery with Dr. Smith that he is soft spoken and a quick talker, so when I met him I wasn't surprised. He is a very quiet man but he is extremly knowledgeable and very friendly. Dr. Smith's entire staff is kind, compassionate and WONDERFUL! I will recommend Dr. Smith to anyone considering RNY.
