Southern Oregon Bariatric Center Bariatric Center
I can't say enough about these people. Beginning with Mark Mortenson the bariatric program coordinator who gave me and my support person wealths upon wealths of information and support. If you had a question, very easy to call or email to get an answer. I never felt like I was shut out in the cold by myself. The support is incompareable. I am now 19 days out from surgery and feeling pretty well. I am surprised at how this really works. I have lost about 47 pounds pre and post operatively.
Dr. Eaton has a passion for what he does and it shows. He is very helpful, very nice, very informative and also answered all my questions completely. I never felt rushed in his office nor like a second class citizen. He is sensitive to the needs of his bariatric patients and I was completely confident in his surgical skill.
The staff at Rogue Regional Medical Center Bariatric wing were also very helpful and kind. They were immediately attentive to my needs, whether it was needing to get up to the restroom or repositioning in bed or literally needing 6 warm blankets to be comfortable. They showed concern and care and sensitivity in dealing with me and although I didn't have too many special needs, I am certain they would have done anything to keep me comfortable. They did not push medication but certainly made sure that I had it before I needed it so I would be on top of my pain levels.
Best decision I ever made.
Dr Eaton was referred to me by my long time Dr. I was so very impressed with the complete program that his office had in place. They had all the information anyone would need and such a great support staff in place. They took all the time you needed to learn all about you as a person and your personal history. There was never a question or concern that did not get taken care off. I have been a patient for a year now and have never had a single negative thing to say about him or any of the staff members, they are all very professional and caring.
My first impression of Dr. Eaton was of a warm, charismatic man who genuinely was interested in my health and well-being both before and for after the surgery. As time progressed during the pre-surgical process, the one on one time that was spent with him decreased, but with the Bariatric Coordinator, Kathleen, the time increased, which I found particularly helpful, as she had also had the surgery, and was well schooled in answering the questions that I had. The staff was WONDERFUL...always answering any questions regardless of the amount of time that may have taken pre-surgery. The one issue that I did have with the office was the lack of staff, aside from the coordinator, that had the surgery itself...and therefore the ability to speak to them openly. At times...during the vulnerable times like weigh ins and such...it was difficult walking into an office where everyone that worked there seemed to be a size 6. The pre-op procedures were WONDERFUL. The emphasis on exercise..the regimen and insistence that you get into a habit of gym and eating correctly...worked. The aftercare program left something at that time to be desired. There was no real followup program. I would rate the program there very highly, but would suggest that anyone going there have a FIRM support group set up for aftercare...as many of the questions that you will have after...they dont seem to have as much time for. This is just MY personal opinion...as things may have changed since I had my surgery 2 years ago..and they may have a stronger aftercare program in place now.rn
