My first visit with Dr. Mitchell was an emotional one for me. I knew right away that he had compassion for me as well as others who are stuck in the obesity trap. His staff seemed so caring, and answered all of my questions. They took their time with me and educated me as much as possible. I think so highly of Dr. Mitchell that I've had my skeptical best friend go along with me to an appt. just so she could get an idea of how much confidence I had, and see for herself that my decision was a good one.
Dr. Mitchell requires follow-up visits after every 3 months, including blood work to check for nutrients & vitamins.
I would rate Dr. Mitchell and his staff superior in bedside manner and surgical expertise.

Seems like a nice guy, very knowledgeable, staff very caring. (No skinny arm chairs) Very adamant about aftercare.

On 11-5-02, I had my first one on one meeting with Dr. Mitchell. I was already impressed with his information session. I just didn't know how I'd feel about him as my personal doctor.
But I was very impressed. He has a way of putting you at ease. He is very concerned with you as the patient and answers any and all questions you have.
I think I may have short-changed myself in that respect. I had a couple of questions, but not many. I've done nothing but research this since I've found out about it and just can't come up with much to ask right now. I'm just ready to go for it.
I'm very glad that I decided to go with Dr. M.

My initial impression of my surgeon, Dr. Kenneth Mitchell, was very positive. I felt Dr. Mitchell was extremely compassionate and showed a genuine concern for the patients he serves. (Not to mention that he is extremely easy on the eye!) Once I became his patient, I learned that he is very concerned about the success of his patients and provides constant encouragement. Dr. Mitchell is very warm and open and treats you like he has known you his whole life. He has a wonderful sense of humor and his bedside manner is terrific. I am hard pressed to find anything I don't like about Dr. Mitchell. I suppose if I could change something about him, I would like him to not be so rushed when I see him in the office setting. He does answer all my questions, but I sometimes get the feeling that he is in a hurry to move on to the next patient. I do realize that he is a very busy man and I'm also aware that this is a common complaint amoung most all patients who see doctors.
Dr. Mitchell's office staff is always very friendly to me and always return my calls. I am welcome to drop into Dr. Mitchell's office and weigh whenever the office is open and I am grateful for that. I think overall Dr. Mitchell is an extremely competent surgeon who is honest about the risks of this surgery, is realistic about the outcomes of the surgery, and who provides excellent care to his patients both before and after the surgery. I also have to say that I love the P.A.'s who work with Dr. Mitchell as they are all great guys who have treated me with dignty and respect everytime I have seen them. On a scale of one to ten, I would rate Dr. Mitchell as a 9 1/2! I am thankful to him for the excellent care he has provided thus far.

I met Dr Mitchell at the seminar on 4-23-01 and he seem Like a very competent surgeon. He was willing to answer all questions asked. We viewed a short film of the WLS being done lap. From what I could tell Donna and Shirley his staff are very friendly and willing to help I have called a few times and spoken with Donna she was more than happy to answer my questions . Dr Mitchell tells it like it is and he wants to make sure everyone knows that this is a lifetime change being made to your body and it's best you think things through before you make up your mind.

Dr. Mitchell is straight-forward, direct, polite and professional. He tells you up front that the first 3 months after surgery will probably be the hardest you have experienced. He has my full confidence. He stresses an aftercare program. A nutrition class is mandatory and it is very informative.
I would highly recommend Dr. Mitchell and his staff.

I first met Dr. Mitchell in a ssession he had on bariatric surgery. Which he requires you to attend first before he sees you. He is a charming man and down to earth. Not to mention very nice looking! The more I saw him I felt he knew what he was talking about. I felt very confident in him. His staff is wonderful. They make you feel part of a family. There is nothing I did not like about him. HE is wonderful. Caring, compassionate, and understand you. He also takes the time to be with you. He is very serious about aftercare and very strict about followups. He lets you know upfront about the risks of bariatric surgery and answers your questions with honesty. He is the best!!!

Dr. Mitchell is a very compassionate man. He is not new to this procedure. I feelings toward this doctor has remained steady and strong. This is not the first doctor my sister and I looked into. The first was a Doctor Gonzolas and we did not feel comfortable with him. We were accepted by doctor Strickland in Columbia, SC but Medicare would not pay for an out of state procedure. We were accepted by Doctor Mitchell. We are in our late 60's and we could not find a doctor in the Charlotte, NC area that would take anyone our age. We do not look our age and have a good outlook on life. Dr. Mitchell answered all our questions. We attended his seminar prior to a appointment with him. His offfice has a support group at the hospital, has follow up visits and answers your emails in a timely fashion. I would highly reccomend Doctor Mitchell. I feel surgical competence and bedside manner are needed to get you through this life change. His staff is knowledgeable and helpful and thoughtful.
