Have not met him yet, but spoke with Ileen and she was very helpful, I go to see him December 13, 2001! I am now getting excited hoping all will work out.
12/14/01-met Dr. Tillquist yesterday. Wow, I am so comfortable with him. I took a whole sheet of questions. He answered everyone completely. I am now able to feel good about this decision.1/12/02 Would highly recommend to anyone in Colorado!

My first impression of Dr. Tillquist was that he was very knowledgable about this surgery. He seemed very kind and genuinely concerned whether or not he had answered all of my questions satisfactorily. He answered all of my questions and more. He was even able to put my husbands concerns to rest. I am confident that I have chosen a great surgeon and will be in very capable hand!

I am now 9 days post-op and can say without a doubt that Dr. T. is a great guy and a great surgeon. I have had no problems at all with my surgery or recovery. Dr. T. was there every day in the hospital checking on me and I knew that I was in good hands. I have no complaints at all Dr. T. is the best!

Dr. Tillquist is a very confident Dr. you can tell this just by the way he talks to you. He has a very good reputation and prides himself on the skill he has aquired doing RNY Lap Bariatric Surgery. He has done over 60 lap procedures and by the time I get surgery he will have done a lot more. The office staff is great and all my paper work for the time off of work went smooth. I really didn't spend much time with him because I didn't have to many questions but he assured me that if I had anymore to just call and he would answer them over the phone. He explained the procedure in detail. Not even knowing him all that well I'd have to say there is no one I would rather have than Dr. Tillquist.

I met with Dr. Tillquist on December 3. He seemed very confident, very serious. He answered all my questions. His office staff was very knowledgable and efficient. Dr. Tillquist greatly emphasized the importance of after care, we discussed this a lot as I live in the Mountains approx 120 miles from his office. I left there feeling very comfortable with the decision I had made.

I met with Dr.Tillquist two weeks after I called to schedule an appointment. He was on time for my appointment. I found him to be a very soft spoken, knowledgeable doctor. I had prepared a list before hand of about twenty questions, and he patiently answered all of them. He explained everything I asked from what kind of pre-op tests I would need to what kind of pain medication I would be on after the surgery. He went over the aftercare with me, and told me of symptoms I would have to look for, and call about. He said I would have to see him Once a month for a year. If there is an area that he is lacking in it's probably the aftercare he didn't go into too much detail. I didn't feel rushed, and after my appointment he walked my husband, and I out to the waiting room, and told me to feel free to call him if I had any more concerns.I think it helped that I brought questions with me, because I'm not sure he would have gone into so much detail if I hadn't been the one to ask. He seems very competent, and I felt that he also had a good bedside manner. I am glad I selected him to do the surgery. His office staff was also very friendly.

When I first met him, I found him to be friendly and willing to take as much time with me as I needed to get all my questions answered. I didn't know what a sweet and genuinely funny personality he had until after my surgery. Each morning between 6:30 and 7 he would gently wake me up with such a cheerful disposition that it was such a pleasure to have him visit. He let me pace my discharge, and as such I felt I needed to stay 4 days after the day of my surgery, not the typical 2 days.

The only thing that surprised me was that I was never measured or weighed before the operation. I also had no pre-operative blood or other tests. Perhaps this was because I'm fairly healthy and young, just overweight.

UPDATE 12/9/01************
I've had some real serious problems develop with Tillquist's staff. I had never found them to be particularly efficient, and sometimes not even friendly. However they have now failed in a monumental way. I say they but really it is the gal who handles the insurers. She scheduled me at Porter instead of Swedish and assured me that it was covered by my insurer. WRONG! In fact I am covered Swedish and NOT Porter. I'm now facing a $12,000 bill because of her incompetance. I've turned the matter over to my mother, who is also my attorney. She has just begun to handle it. Hopefully Tillquist's office will do the right thing and handle this issue with the hospital themselves. We'll see.

I thought Dr Tillquist was very confident and had a great personallity. He was very thourough and to the point. He didnt leave any questions unturned,. I think he and I will have a great pt and dr relationship

His office staff was very knowaleble about the procedure Im haveing an open rny revision from a previous stapling done 15 yrs ago.

He emphasizes that the after care if what you put into it. But it is very important to succeed. He has you come everymonth withoufail., Yes he has a structured after care program that will give you the tools and the success you need to survive with eating minimumly He was very thourough about addressing the risks of the surgery and of eating and doing what is right afterwards Overall I would rate him and his office staff a 10!

I first met with Dr. Tillquist on Oct 15th 2001. Physically, he is a very small, nice looking man. He is soft-spoken, yet seemed very honest and intelligent. Answered all of our questions/concerns and was very thorough. I would highly recommend him to anyone considering this surgery. His staff seemed very nice. The only problem I have had with his office is that they tentively give you a surgery date and wait for the insurance approval. They tell you not to call them that they will call you when it is approved or if they need anything. I waited 5 weeks and finally called them to find out that they had not filed the papers because they were waiting on paperwork from my PCP. Well everyone just sat on it and so here I am two weeks from scheduled surgery and I still am not approved because the paperwork is not complete. Advice--don't wait 5 weeks to call.
