The first impression I had of Dr. Crum was that he was a confident and capable person to handle my surgery. That impression was probably the biggest factor in my deciding to have the surgery. I was fearful of the procedure until I went to Dr. Crum's pre-op meeting / support group. My impression of Dr. Crum was reinforced with each meeting and or appointment. He has had many answers and options for me to try for each new challenge I faced after the surgery. He has developed a program and faced obstacles with other patients to give him a rich file of successful experiences to draw upon. His office staff is very knowledgeable as well.

His aftercare program is structured well. He anticipates challenges that his patients will face and offers his help at all times.
He emphasizes that we should follow his aftercare program as it has proven to be very successful for past patients. However, he can easily adapt for each patients personal situation if issues arise.

I do not think I would have had the procedure done if I had not found my way to Dr. Crum's pre-op meeting. That is a credit not only to his staff and Dr. Crum, but also to the many patients that are active and attend both his pre-op suppot group and post-op support groups and offer their help to prospective patients and fellow post-ops alike.

Dr. Crum's surgical competence is a great asset. His demeanor is something that I like about him, I found it to substantiate my feelings of his competence and capabilities. This led to my coinfidence in his ability to safely guide me through this new journey in life. his demeanor is best suited for patients that are committed to following the program, pre-op and post-op.

My first impression was great, he was right to the point with diagrams of the surgery, what they will do how long it will take etc...I have 1 friend and 1 aquatance that went thru this surgeon so I had a little fair warning as to what to expect. His office staff consits of 2 fabilious women, both post op 18 months +. They are available 24/7 as well as Dr. Crum. He is very crucial about before and after care. I had to make SEVERAL appointments with pulmonogy, cardiology, psychiatric, registered diatician, sleep center. All of this was for pre-op. I will continue to see the dietician 10 days after surgery and once a month there after. I will see Dr. Crum 10days/3weeks/3months/6months/9months/12months/18months/2years and then 1/year there after. There is a strict diet to follow as expected. Overall, I am confident with this doctor. I believe both surgical competence and bedside manner are important.

Wow, what can I say about Dr. Crum?? I sort of feel like he has saved my life already and I have not had the surgery yet. I have been a patient of Dr. Crums for many, many years now as he has repeatedly helped me with another problem that I have been struggling with for years so when I decided that I would seriously consider this surgery I knew that there was no one else in the world that I would want to do it then him. I trust him with my life and would never let anyone else perform this or any other surgery on me. I think that he is a very informed and skilled surgeon. His staff is great and they are always avaliable and willing to talk through any questions or problems that you may encounter. When I decided to have the surgery we talked about it at great lenghts and not only did he talk to me about it but he and his staff took the time to talk to my family about it. The girls in the office have taken countless phone calls from me with questions that I am sure were crazy, yet they never made me feel like I am neurotic, they are always so easy to talk to and so informative. I am still very nervous about this upcoming surgery but I am comforted in the decision that I have made to have Dr. Crum as my surgeon.

Dr. Crum is a really great person. I liked him as soon as I met him. I was nervous at first but when my appointment was finished, I felt there was no other surgeon I would go with. I researched his profile and comments made by others and found nothing but stellar reports. He stressed that he did mainly laproscopic surgery and was very anal about his work.I absolutly believe him and wonder why people in Connecticut would choose any other surgeon over Dr. Ralph Crum.
His staff is very sweet and helpful. I enjoy talking to them.

I was very impressed with Dr. Crum. The first time I saw him was at a pre-op seminar that I accompanied my sister to. She was a couple months pre-op at the time. I found the seminar quite informative as was Dr. Crum. He looked a little tired, but I figured it was becuase he was so busy. The next time I saw Dr. Crum was well over 1 year later when it was my turn for a consultation. He was great. He was very caring and answered all my questions, and those of my life partner too. I was pleased with the way he acknowledged her and included her in the explanations and how he asked her if she had any questions. His staff was very informative, friendly and efficient. There wasn't anything I didn't like about my initial visit with Dr. Crum. (Although, I haven't had my surgery yet..lol) Future patients should know that Dr. Crum is a skilled surgeon with a big heart that has excellent pre and post op programs in place.
Overall, I would rate my pre-op experience with Dr. Crum a 10.

First time I met him, I was very nervous, but he was so calm, informative, professional and caring that all my fears went away. I have seen him a few times before and after surgery, he is still the same professional, caring person that gave me the confidence to go ahead with the procedure the first time I meet him; I didn't dislike anything about Dr. Crum, new patients should know that he is the best they can go with (to have the surgery done) he is sincere telling you what it is, what and how he does it, and the risks that you may or may not have after; then he doesn't stops there after performing the surgery, but keeps giving outstanding care on your Post Op visits and/or questions that you may have at anytime. His office staff! ah; I can't ask for more efficient, knowledgeable , helpful staff, every time I call, even when I can't express what I'm feeling, they know exactly what I'm talking about, and explain to me, that it is or not normal and what I can expect after. I rate Dr. Crum (from 1-10) 10 1/2, I am completely satisfied with both his competence and bedside manners. Thank you Dr. Crum, you've changed my life.

I would like to note that Crum was and still is the best choice for my decision. I feel the same way today about him that I felt when I went to my first pre-op meeting. I liked him. I liked his attitude. His staff has been nothing short of great with me and it is appreciated. I would, however, like him to speak louder in the meetings. All in all he was best for me.

He is a straight forward cut to the chase guy, very honest-- he's not gonna yank you around.

I haven't talked to him much yet, but my impression of him since the pre op support group and the consultation today is the same.

The office staff was excellent.

I didn't really have any problems with him. Future patients should know he's very efficient, and if you're going for this surgery you better be 100 percent ready. He's the meaning of no nonsense.

The man emphasized aftercare a whole lot. He even went as far as to say that he "owned me" (LOL) because of the after surgery checkups and getting approval from him for any medications i might be put on for any reason.

He said if you followed all of his directions that the surgery would work fine. Went over the operational procedures of the past, and how the new one eliminates some risks completely and is overall much safer.

The surgical competence, and his over all demeanor were good to me. He's a good guy.
