Dr. Mikami and his staff are just wonderful. They are the most kind and sincere group of people you would ever want on your side. Dr. Mikami answered all of my questions from start to finish. He told me all of the benefits and risk of the surgery. After surgery, I never had to ask to see my doctor. He and his staff came to check on me daily. They kept me informed on my medical progress. They had a dietician come to spend time with me to make sure I knew what I needed to do when I left the hospital. They gave me all of my after surgery care instructions in writing. I felt prepared to go home and take care of myself. When I was ready to go home, I went home informed and very happy.

When I had my first appointment with Dr. Mikani I was impressed. His office staff were very nice and polite. When I got to meet with Dr. Mikami I was very impressed. he took the time to answer every question. I did not feel rushed or like a number. I felt like I was the only patient he was seeing that day. He even let me take a before picture with him. And then the day of surgery he asked again if there were any unanswered questions. I can not say enough about Dr. Mikami & his staff. He is excellent!

Spent significant time with me, answering all questions. Was flexible about how the discussion went - it was my interview of him, not a pat speech he gave over and over again. Has a sense of humor. Is positive and upbeat, but also straight-forward about risks.

Spent significant time on after care and what I should expect from his team after surgery. Was a far more pleasant experience than I expected - he has a great personality.

Office staff was personable, thorough, prompt and extremely competent and organized. Waiting room and exam rooms all had fat-friendly chairs and doors.

At my pre-surgery appointment, Dr. Mikami was great at answering my questions and spent a lot of time discussing the risks & benefits of the surgery. I was happy to learn that my follow-up visits with him and my dietician will be at a suburban location, not at the OSU campus.

Surgery went very well, with no complications. Dr. Mikami stopped in each day I was in the hospital, even though they were weekend days. I had several questions after I got home from the hospital and Dr. Mikami's nurse was prompt and responsive in helping me out with these.

I met Dr. Mikami on 8/16, and was impressed with the time he spent with me discussing the procedure.

Dr. Mikami is very nice, and has a great bedside manner. He allowed both me and my husband to ask many, many questions at the pre-op appointment. He kept my family informed at the hospital, and came to see me every day that I was there. His surgical competence is outstanding. I was a difficult case due to a previous abdominal surgery, and he still managed to perform a lap RNY. He is wonderful and I would recommend him to anyone.

Dr. Mikami was great, he took his time and explained the procedure completely. He drew out the surgery for my husband and I to make sure that we understood what was going to happen. He also informed me that because my BMI is very high, I will probably have to have the procedure done open. That was nice to know that right up front. Everyone in his office was so nice, made me feel very wonderful, not bad because I was fat.
