Let me tell you.. Before the surgery, my opinion of him was he was a great surgeon. Now that I have went thru surgery, and I had complications, let me tell you. ANYONE WHO HAS Dr Williams AS YOUR SURGEON CAN REST THEIR MIND IN KNOWING THAT YOU HAVE ONE OF THE BEST. As my mom has said, when Dr Williams steps into the OR, know that you have an angel in the OR.

His Staff is excellent. While I was in, I saw his interns and residents. Everyone of them were professional, as well as caring.

His secretary is perhaps one of the best as well as busiest ladies I know.

I would recommend Dr. Williams in a heartbeat to anyone in the area as you really have a true professional, as well as a caring Dr.

I have had only my first consultation with him and found him to be very sensitive and informative. He explained everything in detail and drew a diagram for my husband and me. I felt he was very confident in his work, which made me feel very at eased. He took my fears away with having the total gastric bypass as opposed to just the band in which was what I was comfortable in having done since it is not as advasive. He is a surgeon in Europe and the United States and that made me feel more confidence in him for whatever reason I not sure. But that made the difference in picking him out of the group. Overall so far I am happy with him and the staff, guess time will tell the rest of the story as I go through my long journey.

He was very open about the risks of surgery and we talked in great length about what i was going to go threw ..

Dr. Kirkland on first impression was very attentive to my interest in having the surgery performed. No matter what question I asked he was able to answer it. Until my visit, he was unaware that there was such an informative website to educate potential surgery candidates. He was very please that I was so well informed and decisive about having the procedure performed. I have referred several interested candidates for the surgery to Dr. Kirkland, advising them to make no decisions about having the surgery before they have thoroughly done the research and are comfortable that it is what they truly want. My opinion has not changed about Matt Kirkland. If I had to do it again I would choose him again! The staff is very friendly, warm, caring and helpful. As a result of my being so informed of the risks because of my research of the website, I discussed with him the risks that I knew exists. On a scale of one to ten, I would definitely rate him a big fat 10. He is a competent surgeon with great bedside manners.

Negative:In my opinion he's so busy that he wasn't personally available to answer questions I had after the surgery. I would ask the staff and they would ask him and they would call me with the reply.

I liked Dr. Schurict from the minute he walked in the door. He is very personable, knowledgable and has a good sense of humor. He made me feel very comfortable and answered all questions thoroughly.
He explains everything from A to Z and also uses visual aids to help you understand the procedure. He addressed what to do before hand, the surgery itself, the difference between lap and open, who is more likely to have open or lap, the aftercare, the diet, everthing. He left nothing to chance. I feel very confident in his abilities to do my surgery. He did not talk down to us or make us feel ashamed to be overweight and seeking help. He made us feel that we are people and he is here to help in any way he can.

I did make a comment about the size of the chairs. He only has a few large chairs in his office. I made the suggestion to possibly get chairs with no sides. He took the suggestion and also said that after surgery I would not have to worry about the size of chairs. He was very good natured about the whole thing and made me feel good.

First impression: Congenial, caring and trustworthy. Office staff and those connected to the program are extremely competent and a wealth of information. Pleasant and caring. Give every individual the utmost attention.

After care is structured and outlined in a class and covered thoroughly.

Risks of surgery made very clear as well as the precautions taken to prevent them.

I haven't had my surgery yet, however, so far I am extremely impressed and confident in my surgeon and his staff.

My first impression was very positive
Dr.Noel Williams. He explained everything and made a picture to tell me what was going to happen to me if I decided to have the surgery. He told me what medical problems would be helped by having the surgery. He said they would send a letter to my insurance company. The staff At University of Penna. was very nice. They answered all my question .And they were many.

I had my surgery with Dr. Kirkland on 6.19.02. I found his office staff very helpful and they got my insurance stuff taken care of very quickly.

Technically, I would say Dr. Kirland's skills were great, I have had no problems post-op.

Care at Pennyslvania Hospital was good, I had good pain control and was able to get help when I needed it.

My only caution for other patients would be to go into the first visit with your questions ready- Dr Kirkland can talk pretty quickly.

He was wonderful, and put you at ease. This is about 40% of his business, the rest is with cancer patients.

Somehow this comforted me to let me know that he wasn't out there gouging desperate people.

His staff is polite, especially Tinyetta Bagley.
