My first impression of Dr. Chung is that he was young, attractive, informative, has a great sense of humor, and professional. My impression of him hasn't changed post-op, he checked on me right after surgery and gave me a picture of my lap band. Marcie is really sweet along with the other staff members that I have met. They really wanted the best for me and explained my options thoroughly. To put it this way the center has the whole package.

My first impression of Dr. Chung is what helped me to make my decision. He was so knowledgeable and showed true concern for the obesity problem. I was afraid of this surgery until I met Dr. Chung and now he and God have given me a new life! Of course, behind every good man, is always a good woman and in Dr. Chung's case, she is Marcie and she is terrific!

I highly recommend Dr. Chung. Update: One year later and I feel even stronger about my above statements on Dr. Chung and Marcie. They have the best after-care support and I feel I have made it as far as I have because of their support. God bless you both! :)

I wanted to take this time out of my busy schedule to let you know how much you have changed my life. It has been four months since my surgery and I have lost right at seventy pounds. I wanted to have gastric bypass surgery due to my being obese as well as my hypertension. I have two small children, a 2 year old and 11 month old that I wanted to see raised. I often thought that my children would not even know who their mom was or would be ashamed of me. Since my surgery, I have tons of energy (which I desperately need to keep up with the kids) and I have developed a tremendous amount of confidence. I actually feel like people turn their heads when I walk by. It is really good when someone does not recognize me since I have shed so much weight. I have currently joined a gym and train with a personal trainer three times a week. On the days off, I walk and run two and a half miles. I used to be a very athletic person and a distance runner, but since I experienced a tremendous weight gain, I could no longer do the same things. I have had no problems since my bypass except for drinking while eating, which causes my weight loss to be a little slower. WE ALL KNOW THAT IS A NO-NO! I just have not been able to master that just yet. HOWEVER, I would just like to thank you from the bottom of my heart because you definitely changed me INSIDE and OUT. Thank you.

My first impression of Dr. Chung was that he was a caring person, very professional and he has a great sense of humor. His attention to detail is awesome. I have never found a doctor that had all of these qualities. Usually if you find a good surgeon his bedside manner leaves a lot to be desired. His office staff is second to none. Marcie is Dr. Chung's right hand woman and she really takes care of everything. It was very comforting knowing if I had problems once I was discharged from the hospital I could call her 24/7 and get a live person not an answering service. They have an incredible aftercare program. We have support group meetings once a month and I really enjoyed meeting everyone and sharing our experiences. Dr. Chung did not "sugar" coat anything when it came to the risks associated with this surgery. He met with my husband and I and explained everything in great detail and answered every question we asked with the utmost concern. There are no numbers to rate Dr. Chung he is the best...so can I say 11 on a 1-10 scale? The thing that most impressed me is he did exactly what he said he was going to do. If he told me I will be back later tonight to check on you - he did. Even if it was 8:30 p.m. he showed up just like he said he would. My favorite quote of his is "I'm not God you know" Well... maybe he's not but I have my life back now and I have to say he rates right up there with him in my book. I AM 32 YRS. OLD MY STARTING WEIGHT WAS 402 PDS. WHEN I MET WITH DR. CHUNG AND MARCIE IN THE OFFICE THEY BOTH WERE VERY HELPFUL. DR. CHUNG TOLD ME I HAD TO LOSE 70 PDS BEFORE MY SURGERY. I REMEMBER THINKING OH MY GOD I SURE HOPE I CAN DO THIS. IT WAS A LONG ROAD BUT I DID WHAT HE ASKED I LOST 70 PDS AND HAD THE SURGERY. I HAVE HAD SURGERY NOW 10 DAYS OUT AND ALREADY HAVE LOST 13 PDS. I AM ALREADY FEELING SO MUCH BETTER AND MORE HAPPIER WITH EVERYTHING. IT WAS A LITTLE PAINFUL AFTER SURGERY BUT THEY TOLD ME TO WALK!WALK!WALK! I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO WALK ALOT MORE AND THE PAIN IS GOING AWAY. I AM VERY APPRECIATIVE TO DR. CHUNG AND MARCIE FOR ALWAYS BEING THERE WHEN I HAD A QUESTION. THANK YOU BOTH AND GOD BLESS YOU. The first time I met Dr. Chung I felt he was a very talented, kind, caring, conscientious doctor. My opinion of him has never changed. His office staff was very helpful and they made you feel very comfortable. I guess the only problem I would have was when one of the office staff would answer questions that I felt should have been answered by the doctor. Also a patient's privacy needs to be taken more seriously by the staff. Dr. Chung makes you well aware of the risks involved in the surgery. He does have an aftercare support program as well as a support group. I think one thing that all patients should be made aware of is that the surgery is only a tool. In my opinion the true success will be determined by the patients committment to changing their lifestyle. The first six months after surgery was like the honeymoon. It seems like the weight fell off. Then I had to learn to push myself back from the table at the first feeling of fullness. Exercise MUST become part of your life for you to have long term success I think. I would rate Dr. Chung at about a 9.8 on a ten point scale. In my book that is about as close to perfect as you can get. His surgical competence and beside manner are both great. I have no regrets about my surgery or my surgeon of choice.

The first time I met Dr. Chung, he was holding a seminar at the mall. He sat down and talked one on one with all of us, Taking alot of time to answer each question. I knew that day I had found my surgeon. I called some people I knew who had the bypass and Dr. Chung was their Doctor. They all had wonderful things to say about him and Marcie. I attended another seminar he held at his office and after nine months of following my insurance company's guidelines my surgery date was set and all the tests were done. My surgery went just fine. Women & Children's Hospital was wonderful. Dr. Chung and Marcie are great. I enjoy going to the support group meetings. Dr. Chung always has a good program with with lots of useful information and the group talks about their experiences. It's a big help to know you are not the only one going through these times. My weight lose has been right on schedule. A year ago I spent all day trying to keep up with taking all my medications. You name it I was taking a pill for it. All my problems were weight related. Today the only prescription medicine I am on is my for hormones and ladies you know how important that little pill is. What a difference a year makes. I have gone from dreading to get out of bed everyday to looking forward to each day and I owe that to Dr. Chung. Now that I have lost so much weight people are always asking me how I did it and I tell them about the surgery. and I give them Dr. Chung's number. I tell them not to make any decisions until they talk to him. He is not only a good Doctor, he is a good person.... Thanks for everything!!!!

My impression of Dr. Chung and staff was that they were very caring. The best! I was informed of all the risks and benefits of the surgery. I feel confident in the choice of surgeon and program that I made. I would recommend Dr. Chung and his staff to anyone looking to have this surgery. I had 9 months of eating problems, trouble holding down foods. This is still the best thing I've ever done for myself. I feel great, occasionally suffering from food problems but my health has improved 100%. No high blood pressure, lower cholestrol. I now have energy to spare and I look like I use to and should look.

I find that Dr. Chung is what a Doctor should be. He'll sit down and take the time to talk, explain, ask questions, and give you time to ask questions about what you need to know. His staff is the Best. They'll talk to you and if you need to you call 24 hours a day. I was given a folder of information for me to read about all the risks and benefits of the surgery. But best of all Dr. Chung and his assistant Marcie will sit down and explain anything you need to know. He'll explain step by step all you need to know about the surgery. I studied for one year and what I didn't know Dr. Chung or Marcie explained it to me. I would recommend Dr. Chung and his staff to anyone considering this surgery because you could never ask for a better Dr. and staff. They are nice and willing to help in anyway possible. I could have never found a better Doctor or staff to bea around or work with.

Dr. Chung & Marcie were very well informed on the procedure and explained it very well to me. I was told of all the options and the risks involved. I feel that Dr. Chung has done enough surgeries that I was confident in choosing him to do my surgery. I would highly recommend Dr. Chung & his staff to anyone considering this surgery. I would rate Dr. Chung a HIGH 8 only because I had a stitch get infected at the base of my surgery, which caused me some discomfort. But this was taken care of by Dr. Chung. If not for that problem I would rate him at a 10! Thanks to Dr. Chung & Staff!
