Dr. Fielding is a wonderful surgeon. He is Australian born and is very passionate about this line of work. Dr. Fielding is open to sharing his personal experience with his patients. rnrnHe is not only a surgeon, he also has had banding. He grew up overweight and when he performed almost 600 weight loss surgeries he decided to have it done himself. Many of his staff members have had the surgery as well, therefore they can relate with their patients first hand.rnrnI was extremely happy with NYU Program for Surgical Weight Loss.

My first impression of Dr. Ren was caring, professional and a Dr very confident in what she does....Her office staff is GREAT!!! supportive, helpful, concerned, and caring and friendly...There is nothing to not like. Future patients should just trust Dr. Ren and her staff they are very good at what they do and care for you not just a typical Dr's office.Dr Ren addressed the risk of the surgery right on point no betting around the bush, spoke very freely and honestly of all the pros and cons and I enjoy that very much, honesty is the best conforting feeling to know that there is no curiousty of what if, it is all put on the table. I will rate Dr Ren 120% if I can....I would have to answer that surgical competence and bedside manner are great...

The first time I meet Dr.Fielding I was a bit taken back at first. For one his office was packed with tons of bariatric patients. There was this really nice lady in the waiting room who I was talking to about getting fills. She let me come into the exam room with her, to watch her get her band filled(really nice of her). I was orginally expecting a nurse to come into the waiting room and call my name but Dr.Fielding himself came to get me. He was very nice and outgoing.I immedtly loved his accent and still do :) He made me feel very comfortable and explained to my parents that there was no reason to take food away from me since I would enevitbly just sneak more. He spent about an hour with me and made sure to address all of my concerns. He has an exceptional bedside mannor and overall I would highly recommend him to future patients. rnThe only bad part is that he does have a very big practice and sometimes take a little while to get an appointment, but in anycase if it was an urgent matter he personally makes sure to fit you in.

My first impression of Dr. Fielding was \"honesty\". He had no problem speaking about his childhood suffering from obesity and his struggle with having the surgery and dealing with living with it afterwards. He was compassionate and understanding and did not rush me out of the meeting. He let me talk and he listened! I have to say my impression of him only changed for the better on the day of surgery. He made me feel very comfortable and at ease. The office staff there, although i have to say, it is sometimes difficult to get in touch with someone especially when you have alot of questions or anxiety or are just having insurance problems and must speak to someone quickly and unfortunately, you have to wait and wait. I had a 5 week hell period with my insurance company picking apart all of my paperwork even though i did everything by the book! Get ready because it can be a very frustrating time of your life!!! Dr. Fielding was recommended to me by 3 of my friends and not one had a bad experience. So far im into my 3rd week and had my first check-up yesterday Feb. 8th. Everything looked good on the Esofogram(you drink a white liquid and they take an x-ray of your stomach to check on the position of the band and make sure everything is ok). I go back in 2 weeks for the first tightening of the band and then 2 weeks after that because they like to do it slowly and also check your weightloss and answer any questions you have. His office recommends seeing them at least every 3-4 weeks for the first 6 months. Then every 4-8 weeks unless you need to tighten or loosen. The staff is very helpful and understanding and i would most definately recommend this team of doctors and staff to anyone. As far as which is better, competence or bedside manner, i feel both are very important and with Dr. Fielding you do get BOTH!!!rnrnrnrnrn

I have all good things to say about Dr.Ren, she keeps her answers straight to the point. She answers all of my questions and always set my expectations. It's been three months since I had the lapband surgery and there hasn't been anything that I have been dis- satisied with yet.

I'm very happy to have had Dr. Ren do my surgery. She makes you comfortable immediately when you meet her. It's obvious that she understands what her patients go through and that she cares.rnrn

My first impressions of Dr. Ren were good. She is informative and pleasant to speak with. She is younger but competent. What I like least about her office: The office is very busy it seems. I arrived early but had to wait over 30 minutes after my appointment time each time I visited. However the office is clean and has a nice view. The office staff members are very curteous. rnrnDr. Ren identified all of the pros and cons of the surgery and left the decision up to me. The procedure and the length of hospital stay was explained. The risks of surgery were discussed and given in written form which I had to read and sign. There is a structured aftercare/support group program. rnrnOverall Dr. Ren receives a good rating. I am seeking a Revision and therefore am in the insurance approval stage. Surgical competence and bedside manner are both important when making a life changing decision like having WLS which is permanent!

Well I picked Dr Fielding because he had the surgery and for his no nonsense approach. Plus when you see him losing weight it definitely inspires you. The staff at NYU is great. You feel like your among friends because everyone is routing for you and they remember you so when you come in theyll be the first to recognize your body changes. rnrnMy only thing was I never got to see Dr Fielding on surgery day. I only saw his asst and nurses. Guess that's the price for having a famous doctor. lol. But the staff is thourogh. And I would recommend them to everyone.
