Northern Colorado Surgical Associates Bariatric Center

The doc was super professional and amazingly kind. He stopped by and saw me in preop to make sure I was okay and came to my room the morning after to check on me and see if I had any questions. He has been nothing but helpful and amazing since I first started seeing him. He is very gentle as well and cares 100% about all his patients and makes time for them. Definitely the best surgeon I could have ever asked for.

I had my surgery in 2004... it's been 10 years, WOW. I did loose 120lbs and I felt absolutely wonderful. I went from 286 down to 170. It took me a year, but I felt great... I loved being thin!! Dr. Pettine was absolutely wonderful to me.. great bed side manner, great sense of humor, great people skills, he knows how to get to the heart of the matter and he asks good questions. All of my family that met him were very impressed with him. He had a wealth of knowledge and he was more than willing to talk with anyone and answer all of your questions. My first consultation with him, I believe, was about 2 hours long and he really didn't seem to mind. I was very impressed with that fact.. he was a doctor who was willing to take the time with you. I believe that was the most impressive fact of all about him. I would recommend him to ANYONE as a doctor and a surgeon. I had to drop my doctors care shortly after my surgery because I lost my job and my insurance. I couldn't afford to go back to him on a regular basis... I felt bad about that cause now I could really use the support. I have put back on 45lbs and I can't seem to take it off again. He said that my weight loss was unusual for GBS and that putting on weight after loosing so much is normal... but it doesn't feel normal. He is very supportive and gave me good tips to refocus me again. I still want to loose that 45lbs again... But, Thank You Doctor Pettine... You are Awesome and I still think about you often even though I am 250 miles away from Fort Collins. I am trying to get reconnected. I am sooooo very glad I had you for a GBS doctor instead of other doctors in your practice... You were the BEST!!! I hope to see you again soon. Thank You for the follow up visit about a year or so ago. I remember the Calendar.. 2007... I think?...

Dr.Pettine was very nice and informative. He made me feel at ease with my decision and I felt confident that I am in good hands. His office staff was very nice and the furniture was comfy. They have a structured weight loss program with seminars, support groups, bariatric navigators ( Michelle carpenter is great). I have not had surgery yet but right now I would rate my overall experience at a 9.... I am totally excited about my surgery date Jan. 10th 2011...
After surgery--------
I had my surgery Gastric Bypass RNY on Jan. 10, 2011.. I have to say that I have the best Bariatric doctor in the world. Dr. Pettine is the nicest man and he really cares. On a scale from 1-10 I would rate him at 100.. I recommend my doctor to everyone. My husband is also having the same surgery and DR. Pettine. He likes him alot and loved the way he treats me. Poudre Valley Hopital is very nice and the Nurses here are great. Rik, Stevie, Melissa, Lindsey, Angela, Norma, Marge and all the rest of the Nursing Staff I am so grateful for you all. You all care and thats what makes a great Nurse, Nurse Aide and Doctor.. I love you all and you will each hold a special place in my heart for the rest of my life... Thank you.. — Sabrina Moreno

Dr Roller was open and friendly but kind of distant too. He is a complex individual. He did put me at ease in the first visit, by taking the time to answer questions and draw diagrams of what would be going on in my body. He did not make me feel rushed or like I was taking up his time with stupid questions. When I left the office, I felt that I was going to be in safe, competent hands. Life got in my way of having the surgery right away, so I ended up going in a year later for a new consult and having the actual surgery (Aug 3rd, 2010). My overall impression of Dr Roller did not change. He made sure I was ready this time, was going to put myself first (for once) and was just as firmly friendly as before.
His, office staff are the tops in their field, (in my opinion). They are knowledgeable, courteous, friendly, and will answer any question they can, (without being exasperated, for the most part). I live in another state, so I called a few times during my first couple of weeks home afterwards, and it kind of depended on who answered the phone. Sometimes I could get the answer I needed right away, other times it was like pulling teeth from a hen. But overall, my experience has been good.
I cannot think of anything right off hand that I liked least about him, He checked on me daily while I was in the hospital. He treated my Parents with respect and dignity, took the time to answer their questions as well. Mom stayed in the hospital with me, and he always took the time to ask her if she had any questions, as well.
I think that future patients should know that he is very good at what he does, but he likes his patients to have questions ready at the consults and afterwards. It seems to me, (in my opinion) that Dr Roller kind of uses a rule of thumb, that the more questions a patient asks both before and after surgery; the better prepared and successful the patient is going to be throughout his or her lifetime afterwards. I noticed this fact right away because of my year apart consults and the change in his maanner towards me since I did not come very prepared the second time around. In this scenerio, He can seem brusque, but he genuinely wants to make sure his patients are ready for this life-altering surgery.
Dr Roller and the whole team at Northern Colorado Surgical Associates emphasize aftercare. They have both a short term and lifetime structured program in place, and require that their patients make the commitment to do both the Short term which is the first full year after surgery, as well as the lifetime, which includes follow-up appointments for life.
NCSA has a very indepth Consult which addresses the risks and complications of the different surgeries prior to meeting with the Surgeon. Then Dr Roller goes back over the risks and makes sure you understand them thoroughly for the surgery you will be having, before setting the surgery date.
Overall, I would have to rate his overall performance as 100%. I have nothing negative to say about his abilities. He and his staff are tops in my book. I feel both competence and bedside manner are great. His staff are superb amd I was very glad I picked NCSA as my Surgery team. I am two weeks out now, and doing good!! My adventure has just begun! Thanks to Dr Roller, the staff at NCSA and the Staff at Poudre Valley Hospital!! I am looking forward to my new adventure!! :O)

Dr Pettine, is a awesome surgeon and a wonderful caring person, I had some major complications and even though after my surgery he left town because he was off for a few days when he got the message about me he came right back to take care of me. He will explain everything in a way you can understand, he is so uplifting and makes you feel so positive about the whole process. I had a G-Tube when i went home it was over the Christmas holiday he made light of it and made me smile, he made sure that I was to call him and not the hospital if i was not feeling good, he had me go for a weekly checkup for 6 weeks. I can not say enough good things about him or their practice. His bedside manner was the best, he saw me 2 times a day, the day before my surgery we went over the risks, and both of us never expected that I would have the complications I did, he was there for me, and he still is very caring and always concerned. He makes it a very strong point about aftercare and keeping appointments, if you feel as if something is not right call them ASAP, the nurses in his office will call you back. The only neg. thing i have to say is that what ever went wrong with me was not really talked about to me or why it went wrong, I would of liked myself and family to have had more info. on that issue.
