When I first met Dr. Christou, I was in aww...Sitting in his office, I felt like this was the only solution for me and I finally realized exactly how obese I really was...Dr. Christou told me that I would not reach my mother's age (At that time my mom was 52 and I was 25). Now I'm 27 and thus far I have lost 177 lbs and need to lose another 68...Dr. Christou is an extraordinary surgeon and quite an impressionable person. I thank him for saving my life.
Dr. Christou's staff are wonderful caring people. Mary, his assitant, is the most patient person I've met and she has been able to answer all my questions and has continuosly reassured me that I would eventually have my surgery after it was postponed.
The Bariatric staff are exceptional and have taken very good care of me.
I recommend Dr. Christou, he's my hero.

Dr. Christou was very professional. He communicated very well and clearly with me and even visited me the day after surgery.

Mary was amazing during the long process of waiting. She's such a valuable resource.

I've had no complications to date (four weeks out) and have lost over thirty pounds so far.

Quebec Medicare needs to fund his program more though as the after care needs some help, and it's very important to have someone in the hospital with you, especially if your stay is over the weekend.

dr Christou is an amazing man ,very calm and put me at ease . my meeting with him was short but his secretary is also great ,very patient with us . in Montreal we have to wait a long time compared to the U.S.A. to get operated,since health care is not private .... and they don't have a big budget for bariatrics ,I promessed myself once I'm operated and lost enough weight to be in shape, I will do anyhting to make people aware of the importance to have shorter waiting periods , people die while waiting or get very sick .In my case i waited two years and I am 100 heavier than when I signed up for wls...UNACEPTABLE!!!!

They have an amazing staff and they informed us wel of risks and benefits of the wls , diet after surgery ect...

I am positive that my experience will be great .

To make things happen - you have to strive and be very persistant. After researching for many months, I knew at that very moment that Dr. Christou would be the one to operate me (positive thinking here!). I researched his credentials, visited the www.weightlosssurgery.ca many times for informative purposes and spoke with many patients who had the surgery done by Dr. Christou. There are a few steps to be able to get a consultation with this doctor. His assistant Mary is the multi-tasker - from appointment planning to the post op support - what a kindred spirit. A phonecall is what is needed to schedule an appointment with Dr. Christou, sessions will have to be attended, preevaluations done and pretests as well. The time span can be very long but once the surgery date has been fixed - everything is normally a go. Dr. Christou and his assistants are formidable - though very busy, the preparation, operation and lifestyle you undertake is always supported by this group. I highly reccommend.

I have my first appointment on this upcoming Monday May 31/04. I will let you know how it went when I'm back home.
My surgery took place on October 26/2004.
The waiting before the actual procedure was longer than expected but the surgery itself was about 1,5 hrs - as I was told.
Dr. Christou is a very friendly and attentive person and he made me feel comfortable. He seems very professional and knowledgeable. Mary, his secretary is a warm and welcoming person, which makes it so much easier to go through everything.
I would always go back - don't have any regrets.

Dr. Chirstou is a very quiet person. Don't have much contact with him. He is the only one performing this surgery in Montreal, so we get to see other doctors. One of them is Dr. Maclean. He is excellent.

Dr Cristou is a very quiet unassuming man. Very competent & professional. His office assitant Mary was very friendly and helpful and the staff at the Bariatric clinic are always available for questions.
He is a very popular surgeon in Quebec and has a wait list of up to 3 years or more which can be very frustrating.

The surgery was covered by the Quebec health care system.

Dr Christou schedules follow up appointments with his patients at regular intervals.
