Munroe Regional Medical Center Bariatric Program Bariatric Center
I was scheduled to have surgery with Dr. Overcash, but something hapened at the last minute and Dr. Hoddinott stepped in. He was wonderful! He has a great personality and made my family feel at ease. He is a very competent surgeon and an overall good guy! Surgery went well even though we had a few unexpected surprises. Aftercare is a MUST with him. He focuses on proper nutrition and food choices. I have had to follow up visits and progressing well.
1. He was very nice. He explained what he would be doing and the good and bad of the surgery. 2. I like him very much. He took the time to talk to me. 3. The staff was very helpful. You could call anytime if you had any questions. 4. I liked everything so far. 5. He is very busy and takes as much time as he can to answer your question but if he can't i have talked to Rhonda and she was very helpful to me. rnI'm not here to say anything bad about him. It is now 6/08 and i am almost back to my weight i was when i started. i don't know what happen but i am really upset with the way things worked out. i have gone through so much the last 5 years and being in and out of the hospital and whatever has been so so so hard on me and my family for me to return back to my old self. i still really like Dr Hoddinott and wished he didn't leave cause now i must look for another doctor to help me and he knew everything that i was going through.
Dr. Hoddinott, was one of the nicest doctor I have ever gone to. He was down to earth and told me everything I needed to no. I was very nervous before he came in the room, and he must have known that I was nervous. He made me laugh and never looked at me as I was huge. Boy, what a great guy.And Karen and Erica are so great. They also answered a lot of questions for me. And Karen is handling all the paper work. All I got to say is what A great gang. Thank You Dr. Hoddinott.rn9/22/02 Well I would give Dr. Hoddinott a 100%. He was good at the surgery and it took him 1 hour to do the surgery. He came in the hospital to see how I was and cared about me. Thank you Dr. Hoddinott!!!! 10/2/02 I meet with doctor Hoddinott today for my 2 week check up. He is still the best and I would recommend him to anyone. He is so caring and dosen't hurry out the room.I will update nov. 6th.rn03/30/08 My doctor is moving to florida. I'm so sad, but he has family down there. Who ever is looking for a good gastic bypass doctor Dr. Hoddinott is the best. He will be going to ocala, FL. I don't have a doctor now. I guess I will have to go down there for my appointments. I will make a vacation out of it. I just don't trust no one else. I truly love him.
He explained everything in great detail and made sure me and my husband understood what would be happening. He was very pleasant and friendly. He listened to my questions and answered them.rnrnMy opinion did not change over time.rnrnHis staff was very friendly and professionalrnrnThe only thing I didn't like was that he was always in a hurryrnrnHis office advocates a support group.rnrnThere was no structured aftercare program.rnrnI would rate him very well.rnrnBoth surgical competence and bedside manner were great.
My first impression of Dr. Hoddinott was that he was pressed for time, but very kind. He listened to my questions and took the time to answer them; however, I wish I could've spent a bit more time talking to him.rnrnI was most impressed with his level of confidence. He is 100% sure I will be a success as long as I follow his instructions. That made me feel wonderful and at ease about this surgery. My boyfriend, who is worried about this surgery, also felt better after speaking to him.rnrnThe staff was very nice and the best thing was that I didn't have to wait long to see him. That was a plus. rnrnI can't really say there was anything I didn't like with the exception of wanting more time with him. Of course I could've asked him questions all day if I had the chance. I heard this hospital and surgeon are wonderful so I have no doubts.rnrnThere is a structured program you must follow and aftercare is a MUST for him. His surgical competence slightly overshadows his bedside manner - both are outstanding. Overall I'd rate him an 8. We'll see if he gets a 10 after surgery.rnrnUPDATE: I'm now 6-weeks post-op and I'd have to say that Dr. H definitely deserves a \"10\" for all that he has done for me. When I call with a concern he is patient and very helpful. He always tries to make me laugh too so I feel at ease.rnrn<b>12+ month update</b> I still think Dr. H is THE BEST. I had a small obstruction last week and he was there for me. It was comforting to see his face - and Debbie's (she's a BIG part of the bariatric team there)too. They are both so wonderful. Thanks again, guys!!
I liked Dr. Hoddinott right from the beginning; and while his staff was friendly, I was not sure about some of them. I was wrong but that is often true about first impressions. Even though it took over two years to get this thing done, the staff was helpful. Dr. Hoddinott is terrific. I had and still have some post-surgery complications. Dr. Hoddinott is right there with me through all of it. His bedside manner is great and I believe he is more than competent as he has done many, many of these. Because of prior surgeries, I presented many unexpected problems but he has handled them well and much to my satisfaction. I am pleased with the results and the care I receive from Bethlehem Surgical Associates and Rhonda and Dr. Hoddinott in particular. The only bad thing I can say is the time that it took to get this accomplished. I was a very severe diabetic and I needed the surgery badly to put the brakes on the complications. Two plus years was a long time to wait. While it was not totally their fault, the last year's delay was--even though I realize they were trying to protect me in other ways.
First impression was good. office staff was not helpfull. surgery went ok but when I got an infection with my stiches Dr. H was not very helpfull nor was his staff. My infection became more infected and he was not treating it (it was starting to turn green). I ended up going to a wound care specalist who eventually helped me. Dr H was very insulted that I went to this care specalist because eventually I had to go back to Dr.H because of other complications. I would definiely not recommend him to do your surgey. no aftercare program. no follow up.
rnrn<FONT SIZE =4><B>8/1/02 - I am doing a very happy, happy dance today. I have met the new surgeon, Dr. Hoddinott. I was very impressed with him. rnrnI had resigned myself to having open RNY Surgery even though I originally wanted the Duodenal Switch. As the doctor was going over my patient information he noted that I had wanted the DS and then proceeded to tell me that he had been studying and learning all he could about the DS procedure and had just recently performed his first DS.rnrnNeedless to say if all goes well I will be his 2nd DS patient on Sept. 3. I am so excited I can hardly stand it.rnrnThe office staff, and nurses were more than friendly, outgoing and generally made the visit very enjoyable----- rnrnUPDATE...SURGERY was performed on 10/01/02.-----rnrn04/21/03 I am now 6 months Post Op and I am doing well. I have developed an incisional hernia which will have to be fixed some time down the road. I am still very pleased with my choice of surgeon and reccommend him highly.rnrn11/17/06... This is my 4 year post op check up and I am happy to report that Dr. Hoddinott is still addressing all the issues that have come up post operatively. He is still a fine surgeon and I reccommend him to all who are looking for a reliable and skilled WLS surgeon.
