Munroe Regional Medical Center Bariatric Program Bariatric Center
My first impression of Dr. Hoddinott was great. He is very kind, super nice, funny as can be and full of energy. My impression over the last several months has not changed, it has only gotten better. I am very glad that I was fortunate to find a doctor who really new his "stuff" and who has a great bed side manner. I can't really say that there is anything that I like the least about him, therefore, I will continue with my praises to him... Future patients should know that Dr. Hoddinott is a wonderful doctor who is very thorough with aftercare. It's very nice to see that there are people within his profession who do not just look at you and tell you to go on a DIET. He truly cares and knows that this is a disease that is battled daily by many.
I also found Dr. Hoddinott to be very honest when he described the risks of the surgery. He did not "sugar-coat" the surgery and he answered every one of my questions very honestly (which is very important). Overall, Dr. Hoddinott basically saved my life and has given me so much to be thankful for. I'm sure that he hears it so often and thinks nothing of it, but I am VERY, VERY GRATEFUL and pleased with the success of this surgery. The only thing that I wished Dr. Hoddinott would have been able to explain to me was how terrible some of the nurses (not nurses aids) would treat you. I wished I would have prepared myself for this because I spent so much time mentally preparing for the surgery and the after effects of the weights loss that I didn't really take the time to consider how the hospital stay would be. The best advise I can give is to bring something to help reach in the areas that are difficult to reach after using the bathroom, because if a nurses aid is not around...some of the nurses might not be as helpful as you would think.
He appears to be a very knowledgeable gentleman. I was not as impressed with his staff but ythe young nursee from his office who initially saw me was very positive and uplifting. His office staff did not have enough contact with me to give an oppinion yet. I am scheduled for surgery on the 22nd of January and will keep you posted.
Good first impression as I got an appointment within about 2 months. So far so good and seemed very positive. I told him about this web site and that I had read good info about him and he said he would have to check it out. Staff is nice especially Phyllis who handled a majority of the visit really. Overall, I am very pleased with Dr. H. as he is not only very competent, but very friendly, knowledgable, and supportive. What more can one ask for?
Dr. Hoddinott spent nearly an hour with me on my first visit. I had done alot of research and he helped to clarify the information I had. He was very helpful and reassuring. His office staff was wonderful and very helpful. I had my surgery approved after one letter! There was a good nutritionist at the hospital who met with me on the second day post op., however, there is not a great structured aftercare program at St. Luke's. SHe is working on it, though. I had the surgery on 10/9. It went well, I'm 7 days post op now. No major complications, the hospital staff was great.
Dr. Hoddinott has been wonderful. I felt immediately at ease with him because he has such a casual, but professional demeaner. When I ask questions, he takes the time to explain everything thoroughly and clearly, and he has alot of experience with this type of surgery. He does between 3 and 4 weight loss surgeries a week and really knows his stuff. He always gives me a warm smile and a nice pat on the shoulder before I leave, which is very reassuring. I would definately recommend Dr. Hoddinott to anyone considering him for surgery.
My first impression was of somebody who
truley cared about my well being!
My impression of him has only gotten better
since my surgery and recovery(everytime I
leave his office now after a check up he gets
a hug...or sometimes 2)
His staff is TOP NOTCH...only way to discribe
Future patients should know he is one hell
of a doctor and a great guy too:o)
After care is very important. I see him every
3 months and actually just had tons of blood-
work done this past week (all of which was
normal).
WE hadnt really discussed risk factors, I
think because I am an RN and he knew I had
researched,I feel that he felt I knew what I
wanted and knew what I was getting into.
Since I am not supposed to say everything
was perfect I would rate him a 9.9 out of 10
and would recommend him to anyone!!!!!
My first impression of Dr. Hoddinott was that he didn't come off AS a Dr. Not stuffy. Not holier than thou. Very nice and charming. Straight forward. As well as his staff.
I met with him again for my EGD.. such a horrible, horrible procedure THAT is but did say I took it like a pro and was the best he had for it.
My second office was great. I brought a list of questions which he answered completely and honestly.
Very laid back, relaxed. Concerned for every patient.
I like him more and more.
Very helpful. Takes time to answer any little question.
Never sits still for very long. Sometimes hard to catch.
I would ask very specific questions to get specific answers.
Stresses mush for four to six weeks then trial & error.
No, unfortunately
Very upfront.
I would recommend him in a second.
Both are teriffic. I trusted him with my life, didn't I.
Dr. Hoddinott is a very laid back nice guy who explains what he is going to do very matter of factly he patiently answers questions and I felt that his aproach to his patients is both thorough and compassionate.
The office staff is wonderful and accomodating never once did I feel like there was a stigma attached to being at the fat dr the overall experience eased my mind and gave me hope they are a wonderful staff who I'd recomend to anyone.
