Mid-Westchester Surgical Associates Bariatric Center
I thought Dr. Roth was awesome. My initial meeting with him was filled with information but not overwhelming. He was optimistic and realistic. The office staff, Vicky, was amazing. She really did everything she could to get my date asap.
Dr. Aaron Roth is a genius! I had my laproscopic RNY on May 1st and here it is 8 days later and I cannot believe how wonderful I feel. No pain at all - with the exception of being tired and that is to be assumed since I won't be getting my vitamins or food plan until I see him this Thursday - I am fabulous. My hospital stay was pleasant - the nurses were wonderful although short staffed at times. Dr. Roth came in everyday to see how I was doing and the day of the surgery, I just found him to be very comforting and his confidence in himself and his skills made me just totally relax. I thank God that I was lucky enough to be one of his patients. I am following his orders to the letter as I want my pouch to heal properly.rnrnAnyone considering this surgery in the Westchester County area...please give Dr. Roth a call. You own't be sorry.rnrnSuzanne P.rnBronxville, New York
My husband and I both met with Dr. Roth and found him to be very open and honest with both the positives as well as negatives. He was articulate and confident and answered all of our questions.
What a pleasant experience to meet Dr. Roth. While I was waiting for my turn to see Dr. Roth, he came out a few times and every time he had a beautiful smile on his face—very reassuring and warm.
I was very impressed, not only by his credentials, but also by his soft demeanor. Dr. Roth explained every little detail about the surgery; the pros and cons, the different procedures he offers and each one's risks. He emphasized the importance of aftercare and how it will be up to me (the patient) to use this tool appropriately to achieve the expected results and do well overall.
On a scale of 1 to 10, I guess I'd give him a 9+...no one's perfect, right?
His staff is also very nice--Annie and Laurie are both sweethearts and very helpful...and funny!
I'll update about his bedside manners and postcare after my surgery.
Dr. Roth really takes his time to explain the procedure in detail. He turned out to be one of the best in the business. He has an incredible bedside manner.
PRE-OP
I was referred to Dr Aaron Roth by my endocrinologist, Dr Weiser, who I like. Meeting Dr Roth at first was very reassuring as he nicely laid out my options in detail. I had come in expecting to get the RNY procedure which he had been performing for 3-4 years.
After listening carefully to my "story", he strongly recommended the Lap Band. After the extensive research I'm sure we all do, I agreed. He had me see a Cardiologist, a Pulmonologist, a Nutritionist, and a Psychiatrist for pre-op certification.
His office staff, Annie and Laurie, are terrific, and didn't too much mind my frequent calls.
Since I am his 8th or 9th Lap Band patient, I asked what felt like pesky questions about the differences between surgeons with his experience compared to those having done 1000's of Lap Band's: His answer was straighforward: He said that more experienced surgeons will do the operation faster, but that a significant amount of specialized training alongside Lap Band experts and Inamed certification must precede the first "Solo" Lap Band operation. He also said that he does his own aftercare, whereas many of the Lap Band "operation mills" use nurse practioners rather than the surgeons.
POST-OP
The surgery began at 7:30am and took a bit longer than planned. All went well and I was walking within hours of the surgery.
Dr. Roth made a point to see me that day, look over my abdomen, and answer any questions. He also stopped by next day, which was very nice. His no-nonsense, matter-of-fact approach is both warm and welcomed. I heartily recommend Dr. Roth and his team.
My overall experience with Dr Roth was wonderful, he is a very skilled surgeon, he was extermly thorough with explaining the pros and cons of WLS. I knew he was the surgeon for me when I first met him..
The girls int he office are wonderful Annie, Natasha & Laurie
From the moment I met Dr. Roth I new that he was the surgeon I was going to entrust my life to. He made it very clear that, like any other surgery, there are risks. He promised me that if all was successful - and it has been - my life would change for the better.
I am now almost 6 weeks post-op and I feel great. I have lost a considerable amount of weight and my healing process is going better than I imagined. I am sleeping better and I now have a new spring to my step!
I look forward to the monthly support groups he has. There I can share my experience and gain strength from others.
Rating? On a scale from 1 to 10 (10 being the best). I would have to rate him a 9.5
No one is perfect ... but he sure came close!
This doctor is extremely talented, and you get that impression when you first meet him. He is very sure of himself, without being arrogant. His office staff are great to deal with.
Can't really think of anything I don't like about him. He doesn't tolerate hospital staff slacking off in their duties, relating to his patients.
His aftercare is fairly simple, and easy to follow. It's a basic common sense approach, that makes transitioning to post-op quite easy.
He went over the risks, emphasizing the possible negatives, not glossing over them. This was not a surgeon looking for a fast buck. He took the time to explain everything from start to finish, by putting the facts out there. You, the patient, then has to decide on your course of action.
I would rate him 99.9% (no one gets 100%).
I'd rather have surgical competence over bedside manner (although a good bedside manner isn't bad to have).
I liked Dr. Roth the first time I meet him. He was very stright foward and direct. He is very knowledgeable regarding weight loss surgery.
His office staff is excellent. They were very helpful. After care is very important. he has a support group in his office. Both are great Bedside amnner and surical competence.
