LivLite of Alabama Bariatric Center
At My initial visit Dr. Chandler told me the benefits and also the risks of having this surgery and talked in great length about how important it was for my family to "buy into it". He really stresses family support and after care. I feel his surgical competence is great, afterall if he's not sure of himself then why should I be? I have only heard great things about Dr. Chandler and my experience with him has been outstanding. I would recommend him to anyone. His staff over at the Liv-Lite office is great also. Thank you April and Kathy! You have been very kind and patient and understanding towards me. April, I know I drove you crazy in the beginning, thanks for all your help! I love you guys!
I really really really love Dr. Chandler. I recommend him to EVERYONE. He is a great person in general. I didnt know much about him when i first starting going to him. But as the time went on, the more i just liked him. He cares, alot of surgeons are in it just for the money. and to say here, ive done 1000000 surgeries. Dr. Chandler isnt llike that. He truely cares, and cares about your HEALTH. not just about the surgery. He came and checked on me EVERYDAY i was in the hospital along with Kathy Grover from Liv-Lite.
I recommend him and Decatur General Nurses to everyone i had the BEST nurses while i was there. 4 of them had had Gastric Bypass so it made it LOTS easier. It truly was a great experience and i'll let Dr. Chandler do another surgery of any kind on me in a heartbeat!!!!
I THINK DR.CHANDLER WAS A GREAT DOCTOR. I HAVE NOTHING BUT PRAISES FOR HIM. HIS OFFICE STAFF AND HIS NURSE LISA IS FAR ABOVE RUBIES AND PEARLS. ALSO KATHY AT LIV-LITE IS WORTH MORE THAN HER WEIGHT IN GOLD. LIV-LITE HAVE THE BEST FOLLOW-UP STAFF THAT IS AVAILABLE. IF I HAD HAVE THE SURGERY ALLOVER AGAIN I WOULD STILL CHOOSE DR.CHANDLER I CAN'T SING HIS PRAISES ENOUGH. I FEEL THAT DR. CHANDLER IS NOT DOING THIS SURGERY FOR THE MONEY. HE IS DOING IT TO HELP PEOPLE LIKE ME WHO NEEDED HELP WITH THEIR WEIGHT PROBLEM. HE COVERED EVERYTHING AND HE LISTEN AND ANSWERED EVERY QUESTION I ASK HIM.
I was very impressed with his knowledge of the surgery He answered every question that I had. I grew to love Dr. Chandler more and more as I go to my visits with him His office staff is great. They've helped me with any problem that has occured. He isn't a man of a lot of words but when you start talking to him then he opens up and talks back with you. He lets you know up front about things that can go wrong but that he will be with you all the way to fix things that may go wrong. His aftercare is great. He wants your family to be there to support you also. His nurse will even call you at home to see if there is any problems. Kathy Grover calls quite often to check on you and to see if there is anything that I need help with or tho see if I have any questions. He will tell you up front that there are risks from the surgery and that you can even die from the surgery. He is a BIG 10 in my book. I trusted him with my life for this surgery and any other surgery that he may have to perform on me. His surgical competence far exceeded my expectations of him and his bedside manner is great even for a man!
I was first scheduled to go to another Dr. in another town about this surgery. I had prayed very much about this, my appt. was already scheduled when I picked up a local paper one day and there was Dr. Ken Chandler's name announcing he was doing this surgery. Something just told me that he was the one I really needed to see about this. Dr. Chandler had done some surgery on me back in 1982 that was very rare at the time on a bile duct problem that I had and I have not really understood until this surgery what it really was that he did. Thank you Lord for the message to change and go to Dr. Chandler. Dr. Chandler is one of the best Drs I have ever seen. He is very professional and had a caring that is unseen in so many of our Drs these days. But the thing that struck me the most during this is that I found out that he is also a Christian Dr. and that means more to me than anything else. His office staff was very professional and very helpful also. What I liked least about him? Only that he forgets he can be human sometimes too, but that is the kind of Dr. he is. But then its there just when you need that human, kind touch. Any of his future patients should know not to be fearful you are in good hands!! I know first hand!! He is very careful to let you know that you are his patient and he cares about you and encourages you to be a participant in his aftercare programs. He was very up front about the risks of the surgery and encourages your questions about it. How would I rate Dr. Kenneth Chandler? At the very very top of my list and would reccomend him to anyone!! By the way he is surgically competent, he does have bedside manner,(you just have to know how to get it to come out),Its there as I said earlier just when you need it the most. I think all these things are great to have in a surgeon when he is about to do surgery on YOU!! Dr. Chandler my hat is off to you, Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
My first impression of Dr. Chandler was he was a very nice man who made you well informed about what surgery I was wanting to have. My impression did not change over time. His office staff are very friendly. Dr. Chandler makes it clear that he will be your Docter as long as you want him to be. He really wants to make sure you know that no question you have is too dumb to ask. We watched a video of the surgery and also gave us pamplets and booklets on the surgery as well as letting us ask all the questions that we had. He made sure that we knew all the risks involved. Out of a 10 rating I would give Dr. Chandler a 10 1/2. He has a really great bedside manner and has a excellent reputation as a wonderful surgeon. I would use him again in any surgery that I was going to have.
I was so excited to hear that Dr Chandler was doing the WLS. He had done surgery on my husband and grandmother. I knew he was and still is well respected in the community. He is an excellent surgeon. I had worked at DGH for about 10 years and knew him. His nurse Lisa and office staff are all very nice and pleasant to work with. Kathy Grover helps him along with his nurse Lisa at the WLS office in Decatur and with them 3 you are truly blessed. I had the RNY Lap. I had veryl little pain day of surgery which can be expected but since then there has been none. I feel great.I went into the surgery knowing in depth the risks this surgery has, as well as what I had to do after surgery to help decrease the risks. Dr Chandler puts it to you streight there is no beating around the bush. He has a structured aftercare, since I am a week post op I know that it is 2weeks and I am not sure after that if it is 1 month or 2 months and so forth. Dr Chandler is a great surgeon, his bedside manner it could be better but it is not bad. He just dont beat around the bush He tells you the truth and nothing but the truth, wheter that is what you wanted to hear or not. But that is what everyone needs to hear the TRUTH so they can be informed.
I WAS VERY HAPPY WHEN I FOUND OUT THAT DR. CHANDLER HAD STARTED DOING THE GASTRO BYPASS IN DECATUR. I HAD MET HIM SEVERAL YEARS EARLIER WHEN MY MOTHER HAD SURGERY AND HE PERFORMED THE SUGERY ON HER. SHE LOVED HIM, ACTUALLY HE HAS PERFORMED TWO SUGERIES ON MY MOTHER. SHE MADE THE STATEMENT THAT HE COULD OPERATE ON HER ANY TIME. I HAVE TALKED TO MANY PEOPLE WHO KNOW DR. CHANDLER AND HAS WORKED WITH HE. THEY ALL HAVE NOTHING BUT POSITIVE WORDS ABOUT HIM. I AM NERVIOUS ABOUT THE SUGERY BUT I AM DIABETIC AND TAKING HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE MEDICINE AND WEIGHED THE PROS AND CONS AND I BELIEVE THE GOOD OUTWEIGHTS THE BAD. AT LEAST I HOPE SO.
I HAD NOT EVEN CONSIDERED THE SUGERY UNTIL A FEW MONTHS AGO. I TALKED WITH MY FAMILY DOCTOR AND HE WAS VERY POSITIVE ABOUT IT.
My inital impression is that he is very business like and professional. He has had extensive laproscopic and gastric bypass surgery but has only this year (2004) started doing lab RNY's. His office staff is still on a learning curve but they are very friendly and helpful. The office leader has had WLS so is very understanding re. clients needs. There is a strong emphasis on aftercare and a requirement to attend a minimum of 2 support group meetings prior to surgery. I will know more after my next appointment which is the pre-op meeting. I personally believe that surgical competence trumps bedside manner any day though bedside manner is nice.
