I am 6 months post op from my gastric sleeve surgery with Dr. Alvarez. While making the decision to undergo surgery is not easy, for me, it was a long process and did my research. The key for me was finding the right surgeon. I have met many people all of whom have had the gastric sleeve surgery. I knew surgery in the US was not an option for me as I was not severely overweight, and most importantly, the best bariatric surgeons are in Mexico. I looked at different bariatric practices in Mexico and different surgeons, spoke and saw different patients both veterans rookies with gastric sleeve. I came across Dr. A’s profile, did my research some more. Met some of his gastric sleeve patients and compared the results both long term and short term versus results with other surgeons. Sure, Tijuana and Monterrey were the cheaper option. But let’s face it, this is an important investment so to me, money was not what I valued most. I met 2 of Dr. A’s patients both 11 and 12 years out, and they both have maintained their weight and are in great shape. I met other patients alike, but who went with other surgeons, and they had gained almost or all their weight back. That was key to me, and decided to contact Dr. Alvarez and his staff. I cannot say enough about his staff and facilities. Second to none, and better attention, care and service as compared to anything here in the US. Not to mention, Dr. A’s human nature and true passion for what he does. It is rare to find a Dr. who not only has the passion, but one that is really good at what they do. So fast forward to today, starting weight 190, surgery weight 180 , current weight 129lbs. I feel great and could not be happier. I am no longer on high blood pressure medications or asthma medications. And I am no longer pre-diabetic! Process was simple, I drove back home to San Antonio (2 hours) the next day after surgery. Piedras Negras is the safest border town in Mexico that I have visited. My stay at the hospital was safe and peaceful, 0 complications pre and post op. I cannot thank Dr. A and his staff enough. I am a new person, full of energy and a completely new outlook on life. If you are considering bariatric surgery in Mexico, Dr. A is the way to go.

I first heard about Dr. Alvarez from a supervisor at my college internship. I've been thinking about getting the gastric sleeve surgery but didn't have any particular surgeons in mind. I took a leap of faith and I'm glad I did. My surgery was this past July. Dr. Alvarez and his team were professional from day one. Highly communicative and helped me understand exactly how the process before, during, and after surgery would be.

My husband joined me for the trip to Dr. Alvarez's facility and when we arrived, we were welcomed with smiling caring faces from his team. Every single one of his team members were very nice and professional. My husband and I really enjoyed our stay, and we loved Dr. A's Poblano Soup! The day of the surgery I was naturally scared, but I will always remember that Dr. Alvarez said, "I got you." in an effort to calm my nerves.

My recovery period in the hospital after the surgery went smoothly, minimal pain once I returned home. A little into three months since surgery and the way I feel is surreal. I'm finally under 200lbs. which I have not seen on the scale in several years. I started jogging this past week and can jog without being out of breath within 30 seconds. Today I was jogging and found myself going into a sprint which I have not been able to do in more than 10 years.

Most of my clothes are baggy on me now, and I'm still trying to come to the realization that my dreams of a healthier life are coming true, thanks to Dr. Alvarez and his team. I'm looking forward to living my life now, going more places with my kids and husband without being self-conscious about my body. One of my dreams is to be able to ride a horse and within a few more months I will feel comfortable enough to finally ride one. Thank you Dr. Alvarez for helping me dream again, helping me be a healthier, more confident me.

I researched bariatric surgery for months, I went through all the up and downs of deciding wheather or not to even have this surgery because of all the negative aspects that I would hear from other people. Things from regain to complications, but then I found Doctor’s A’s youtube channel were he discusses and answers every question you can possibly ask. He’s knowledge on the surgery is what made me feel safe and comfortable with picking him as my surgeon. I absolutely have no regrets. I only wished that I had done it sooner. Dr. A is so professional. I received the best care from him and his team and recommended him to all my friends who are impressed with my results. If you are having any doubts, I promised that Dr. Alvarez is the best surgeon out there. My recovery and journey so far as been a smooth experience and I’m so grateful for the Endobariatric team.

Dr. A completed my surgery March 2024 and it was a wonderful experience. I read and watched a lot of videos before my procedure and had actually booked an appointment with a clinic in the US. But after I found Dr. A, I knew I wanted him to do my surgery. His staff was great and the facility top notch, I was treated very well. Dr. A visits every day to see how patients are doing and to answer any questions. I literally didn’t have any pain or gas and had to remind myself that I had surgery so I wouldn’t over exert myself. I think my following pre-op and post-op instructions to the T allowed my surgical experience to as great as it was. Im thankful to Dr. A for providing me with this “tool” to aide in a better and healthier lifestyle. Since March I’ve lost 65 pounds and counting! It was made a big difference in my life!

Dr. Alvarez is an amazing surgeon who provides exceptional care. I had the best experience and am doing fantastic with zero issues 3 months after surgery. Dr. Alvarez and staff provide great information so you know exactly what to except. My only regret is not having surgery sooner!

I had my vsg surgery April 22, 2024 with Dr. Alvarez. The entire staff at Endohospital were the most attentive and caring people I have come across. Dr. A was very reassuring and answered any questions or doubts. I don't have a single regret of choosing him as my surgeon and I thank him and his entire staff for what they do. Im immensely grateful for having the opportunity to get the surgery to begin with. If anyone is considering having this surgery, I would say go for it. It's a good feeling to know you're taking the first step to changing your health but even more when you're choosing a surgeon who genuinely cares for his patients like Dr. Alvarez. Thank you again!

I’m a year and a half post op with Dr. A and all I can say is he changed my life. I’m so thrilled with the results and I can’t say enough for the experience. Dr. Alvarez, his team, the facility, all exceeded expectations.

Dr. A and his staff are the best! I have no regrets at all. They treated me like family. I would recommend Dr. A to anyone and everyone. Best thing i have ever done for myself.

Great experience!! It started with the patient coordinator Brandi. She was so helpful with all the pre op instructions. She is very knowledgeable about the process. Next was Jesus, who picked us up in San Antonio and drove us to Endo hospital. He was very friendly and helpful. We even stopped halfway to stretch our legs and get a drink. Upon arrival at the hospital we greeted by a compassionate and caring staff. Later that afternoon we got to meet Dr. Alvarez, who is a genuinely caring surgeon with an amazing bedside manner. After talking to him I was totally at ease with my upcoming procedure. Everything went so smoothly, I was up and walking just a few hours after my surgery. I had a little discomfort, but no pain.The next day my wife and I went and got massages and walked around the local market. The facility is top notch, it was so clean and perfectly set up for the patient and their companion. The next morning we were discharged and once again Jesus took us back to San Antonio. Crossing the border was breeze, no issues at all. I came back with my sister 2 months after my surgery to accompany her during hers. I got to experience the whole thing again but from a different perspective. Once again 5 stars all the way around. I am now 3 months post op, CPAP gone, BP meds gone, cholesterol meds gone. Down 55 lbs. Best decision ever, wished I would have known about Dr Alvarez years ago.

I would recommend Dr. A to anyone that is needing gastric sleeve. From the beginning when I was seeking information about the surgery until I was post-op after having the surgery, him & his staff have all been wonderful. I went to his hospital alone to have my surgery and everyone was so wonderful & took care of me so well. They made me feel as if, I were their family that they were caring for. Dr. A is a wonderful surgeon and has a great bedside manner. I would not hesitate to do it all again. I just can't say enough about him & his staff. If anyone is thinking on making this life changing decision, then they should absolutely let Dr. A be the one to help them! He is awesome!!
